Great book if your ECG skills need a polish 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book for anyone from an MS1 to currently practicing physicians. I am a board certified ER physician, and I found Dr Taylor's book extremely useful while also being a very easy to read/use text. But I also was amazed by how he presented something complicated in a concise and systematic manner that could be understood from the beginning by someone with only a basic cardiology background. Perhaps the only negative is that you probably should have another cardiology reference available for just a few times in the practice ECGs because he is occasionally sparse with his explanations.

The Handbook of Cardiac Electrophysiology is aimed for the cardiology of EP fellow, engineers, technicians, nurses, and others working in field. The book begins with an excellent review of the basic concepts of the electrophysiology procedure as well as the instruments used. This review is very concise and clear. The book progresses to explain the induction and interpretation of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. Each section provides a very organized, clear description of the arrhythmia. In addition, the text is accompanied with excellent illustrations of arrhythmia circuits and EP tracings. The methodology used allows for a clear understanding that can be applied immediately to the EP laboratory experience. The organization of the chapters also allows for quick review. The book concludes with a section on mapping techniques and new technologies that may be encountered in current or upcoming practice. This book is an excellent resource to provide a fundamental understanding of the electrophysiology laboratory. Furthermore, it is organized in a manner to be a constant reference for ongoing learning and review. It is also a valuable resource for those teaching the science; as it presents a very effective manner in which to teach both basic and complex ideas.

Its focus is to enable the reader to understand and interpret the recording and stimulation techniques used during an EP study. The primary emphasis is on tachyarrhythmia diagnosis, but the book also includes bradycardias, the principles of catheter ablation and new mapping techniques. The main concepts are explained diagrammatically in original color diagrams with clinical multichannel intracardiac recordings used to illustrate the concepts discussed. The book provides sufficient practical information to enable the reader to plan an EP study and interpret the intracardiac recordings of most common tachycardias.

Okay, I'm the author. In all these years no one has ever put a review up here, so I'm going to do it.

This is a guide to scanning the vascular system with ultrasound. It was meant to be a vascular-sonography version of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Volkswagen Repair, or the Pete Seeger banjo book: easy to read and make sense of, and practical. It takes the reader step-by-step through protocols for scanning first carotid arteries, then lower-extremity veins, LE arteries, upper extremities, and the abdomen (though that chapter is necessarily only introductory, since that's an especially complex area). In other words, rather than theory and interpretation, this book is about how to push the probe around and get the images and Doppler--very concrete.

My feedback on this book has always been positive: people tell me that they have been able to learn the techniques with a minimum of grief.

So what the hey, I'm giving myself five stars. Excuse my towering immodesty.
