The Chronicles of Narnia, pop-up book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

What a delightful work of art. The mechanics and cut out art work are superb. One must understand that the pop up book depecits all the stories within Narnia. If you have the complete series as shown on BBC or have read all 3 stories by C.S. Lewis then you will be able to relate to each page. Walt Disney has only released one movie "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" so one can only connect the first pages of the book to the movie. But even if you have never seen any part or read C.S. Lewis books, this is wonderful pop up book to own. I bought one for my granddaughter and one for me.

Editorial Review:

C. S. Lewis's classic Narnia books spring to life in the hands of award-winning paper engineer Robert Sabuda. Each of the seven books in the series has its own pop-up spread rendered in spectacular detail with stunning special effects. Experience a different adventure from Narnia on every spread in this beautiful addition to the Narnia library—sure to enchant fans of both C. S. Lewis and Robert Sabuda.

Changing old beliefs 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The Biology of Belief reinforced my belief that drugs do nothing but cause problems for the body. Bruce Lipton shows exactly what drugs do to the body which for myself was a vindication of what I believed for the last 20 years. It also gives great hope for the power of belief in providing a means to listen to the body and act on what you feel when the body speaks. It was very eye opening to find that beliefs are formed in new life before it comes into the world by the environment which it is exposed to. The Biology of Belief shows a new direction that the medical profession can at last provide guidance to their patients instead of the old paradigm of surgery and drugs. Thank you Bruce Lipton.

Editorial Review:

Since the publication of The Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton has received widespread acclaim as one of the most accessible and knowledgeable voices of ?new biology.? The science is called epigenetics?a revolutionary field that shows us how the energy of consciousness is as important in shaping life on earth as DNA and chemistry. In this original author adaptation, Dr. Lipton brings his clarity, insight, and humor to unveiling a profound change in how we perceive the way life works, including: ? How environment?including our thoughts and emotion?controls the character of every cell ? Quantum physics and life: the key to understanding the bigger picture of how mind over matter works ? Cooperation and evolution?moving beyond the ?selfish gene? theory to see that a natural trend toward harmony literally shapes the biosphere ? Why the oft-dismissed placebo effect is really the most powerful healing tool we have, and much more

Beautiful and Mentally Satisfying 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Reading this book I gained a logical confirmation of the natural beliefs of the heart, which in modern times are increasingly condemned as illogical. The best scholarly defense of religion/morality in general and Christianity in particular I've read! To make the most out of it, read "The Everlasting Man" by G.K. Chesterton, a book which greatly influenced Lewis and played a major role in converting him to theism: The Everlasting Man. These books go hand in hand. Read them both!!

'Oxford Retard' yet to receive a coherent rebuttal... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I agree with the 1 star reviewers. This was no scholarly work. It wasn't nearly enough pages long. He didn't even use long words. If he was really an intellectual don't you think he would have used longer words?

Editorial Review:

This work brings together Lewis's legendary broadcast talks of the war years, talks in which he set out simply to "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times". Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity's many denominations, C.S. Lewis provides an opportunity for believers and non-believers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith.

More traditionally novelistic, tells the backstory of Atlas Shrugged 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This novel predates Atlas Shrugged, and sometimes reads like a prequel telling the backstory of John Galt's life before he went on strike in Atlas. In its focus on individual characters, it sharpens the picture of pain and painful consequences to significant choices that drive the character's in Rand's objectivist world, so in some ways is more interesting and readable than Atlas Shrugged. It is more traditionally novelistic and less explicitly philosophical.

Worth of money. 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought a used book in good condition. This book arrived very fast and of course was in a better condition than my expectation. I am happy with my current purchase and would like to continue in future.

important novel/philosophical presentation 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

In the Fountainhead, Ayn Rand presents her philosophy of objectivism told through the lives of her characters. The protagonist is architect Howard Roark who portrays the epitome of the heroic individual standing against mediocrity. The villain is media figure Ellsworth Toohey who is known for raising up what is insignificant and tearing down what is excellent. Don't be surprised if many of the events and dialogue in this book rings true in regard to current events.

I read Atlas Shrugged before Fountainhead and found Atlas Shrugged to be much more compelling and a better presentation of Rand's philosophy. Fountainhead is still worth reading but is not quite as good.

Editorial Review:

Howard Roark is an architect whose genius and integrity will not be comprised. He has ideas that work against conventional standards.

Editorial Review:

Immaculee Ilibagiza grew up in a country she loved, surrounded by a family she cherished. But in 1994 her idyllic world was ripped apart as Rwanda descended into a bloody genocide. Immaculee’s family was brutally murdered during a killing spree that lasted three months and claimed the lives of nearly a million Rwandans.

Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them.

It was during those endless hours of unspeakable terror that Immaculee discovered the power of prayer, eventually shedding her fear of death and forging a profound and lasting relationship with God. She emerged from her bathroom hideout having discovered the meaning of truly unconditional love—a love so strong she was able seek out and forgive her family’s killers.
The triumphant story of this remarkable young woman’s journey through the darkness of genocide will inspire anyone whose life has been touched by fear, suffering, and loss.

Extremely interesting book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

No matter what side of the fence you are on regarding past lives, reincarnation, etc., the book is extremely interesting. For anyone who has ever met someone and kept thinking they had met before or instantly hit it off, this is a great book to read. No matter what your beliefs are, it doesn't hurt to try to be a good person and treat other people well, a good universal message.

If you read one book about regression and reincarnation this should be it. 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I've read litterly dozens of books on Reincarnation and past life regression. This book does is all. Coming from a scientist and doctor who are very sceptical about any mention of the words reincarnation and past lifes. This book opens the door to these subjects in a clear and non-threatening mannner. At the end you will not only want more but you will want to meet the subjects and the doctor mention in this book.

Editorial Review:

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from the "space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss' family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

Editorial Review:

Can God’s Love Save Anyone?

Bestselling author Francine Rivers skillfully retells the biblical love story of Gomer and Hosea in a tale set against the exciting backdrop of the California Gold Rush. The heroine, Angel, is a young woman who was sold into prostitution as a child. Michael Hosea is a godly man sent into Angel’s life to draw her into the Savior’s redeeming love. This remarkable novel has sold over a million copies and is among the top twenty on the ECPA fiction bestsellers list for four years running. A six-part study guide, suitable for individual use or group discussion, is included in this bestselling novel.

ALSO AVAILABLE: Now own this beloved classic in the keepsake hardcover edition!

California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.

Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.

Then she meets Michael Hosea.

A man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything, Michael Hosea obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance her frozen heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she can no longer deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael Hosea does…the One who will never let her go.

A powerful retelling of the book of Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.

Story Behind the Book

“Writing Redeeming Love was a form of worship for me. Through it, I was able to thank God for loving me even when I was defiant, rebellious, contemptuous of what I thought being a Christian meant, and afraid to give my heart away. I had wanted to be my own god and have control of my life the way Eve did in the Garden of Eden. Now I know to be loved by Christ is the ultimate joy and fulfillment. Everything in Redeeming Love was a gift from the Lord: plot, characters, theme. None of it is mine to claim.”

Editorial Review:

Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant," a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager.

What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating can do for women. This groundbreaking book shows readers the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be. By revealing the core desires every woman shares-to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a grand adventure, and to unveil beauty-John and Stasi Eldredge invite women to recover their feminine hearts, created in the image of an intimate and passionate God. Further, they encourage men to discover the secret of a woman's soul and to delight in the beauty and strength women were created to offer.

Editorial Review:

EFFECTIVE PARENTING-WITHOUT THE POWER STRUGGLES.

As parents, you have only a few years to prepare your children for a world that requires responsibility and maturity for survival. That thought alone can send shivers down your parental spine!

So what do you do? Hover over your kids so they never make mistakes? Drill them so they'll remember the important principles when you're on their own? Tear your hair out, wondering if teaching them responsibility is anything but a battle of wills?

According to Jim Fay, one of America's top educational consultants, and Dr. Foster Cline, a trend-setting child and adult psychiatrist, parents who try to ensure their children's success often raise unsuccessful kids. Responsibility is like anything else-it has to be learned through practice.

If you want to raise kids who are self-confident, motivated, and ready for the real world, take advantage of the win-win approach to parenting. Your kids will win because they'll learn responsibility and the logic of life by solving their own problems. And you'll win because you'll establish healthy control-without resorting to anger, threats, nagging, or exhausting power struggles.

Parenting with Love and Logic puts the fun back into parenting!

"Parents consistently tell us they wish they had known about love and logic earlier. This common sense approach gives parents a tangible hope that they can still influence their kids."-Dave Funk, staff development coordinator, New Berlin Public Schools, Wisconsin

"I have been a principal for four years now and have used these methods with great success. Thank you for all the creative ideas."-Steven B. Vande Ven, principal, Sherrelwood Elementary School, Denver, Colorado

"I'm continually amazed at how well these principles work, not only with children, but with parents and other adults. It's great to get away from punishment and anger and into love and logic."-Sharon Alexander, principal, Disnard Elementary School, Claremont, New Hampshire

"I really believe that this material can benefit every parent. I have never enjoyed my children more. Parenting has become fun, and stress and anger no longer dominate my life."-Pam L. Tourigny, group home foster parent, Snelling, California

"Parenting with Love and Logic meets with wonderful results. For the first time in four years, we're making progress in the right direction with our teenager."-Billie Leafgreen, parent, Lander, Wyoming
