Psychology of trading 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

A Wall Street Classic and it does not disappoint. Published in 1923 the book continues to be one of the most heavily references books on trading and speculation. You'll learn about the early days and the history of the markets, some basic trading strategies, and most importantly: the human psychology of ups and downs of trading and how Larry Livingston (pseudonym for Jesse Livermore) dealt with it all.

I'm not a trader, nor am I aspiring to become one, but this was a fascinating read and I'll recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

Editorial Review:

-Worth magazine

"The most entertaining book written on investing is Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, by Edwin Lefèvre, first published in 1923."
-The Seattle Times

"After twenty years and many re-reads, Reminiscences is still one of my all-time favorites."
-Kenneth L. Fisher, Forbes

"A must-read classic for all investors, whether brand-new or experienced."
-William O'Neil, founder and Chairman, Investor's Business Daily

"Whilst stock market tomes have come and gone, this remains popular and in print eighty years on."
-GQ magazine

First published in 1923, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is the most widely read, highly recommended investment book ever. Generations of readers have found that it has more to teach them about markets and people than years of experience. This is a timeless tale that will enrich your life-and your portfolio.

its tiny! 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

i was expecting the full book, not the miniature edition. note: this is an abridged, pocket size version of the book.

Don't get this book 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

It's a small book with no depth. Might be relevant for people who are clueless about stocks but definitely not for people with general idea about stocks.

Not what I expected. 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I thought this book was an abreviated version of the full book, however this book is actually a miniture ~2inch micro-pocket version of the full book. Text is full size, thus it only contains a very few high-level comments. I was hoping for a boiled-down version, but got mini-me.

Wasted my time...don't waste yours. 1 out of 5 stars.

Rich Dad Poor Dad was great...this is not.

The title of this book is totally misrepresentative of the contents. This book is about buying huge apartment buildings all over the US. Not what I would call ABC's of real estate investing. Furthermore, if you are buying apartment buildings then you are probably too advanced for this book anyway.

The book is very basic and is easy to read. If you just want to get excited about the idea of real estate investing jump in.

If you want something to actually teach you about real estate investing grab a book like "Investing in Real Estate" by McLean and Eldred. Also check out the podcast "Get Real, Real Estate Investing for the Rest of Us".

Editorial Review:

Learn how the cash flow generated from property investments appreciates in value and ensures financial freedom, as well as the freedom to be your own boss. Discover real estate investing wisdom from the trenches with The ABCs of Real Estate Investing. Learn how to evaluate candidates based on the qualities of a good partnership, become familiar with various research tools, stay away from shaky deals, and establish systems for maintenance, accounting, rent collection, and more.

Global Changes 5 out of 5 stars.

The global energy, environmental and economic situation is going through major changes. Jeffrey Sachs does an excellent job of analyzing the issues, choices and possible consequences before the world community. Comprehensive in nature, this book makes an excellent textbook that should be required reading for all who need to understand the realities of the new age before us. This is all of us so "Common Wealth" is a must read.

Editorial Review:

In Common Wealth, Jeffrey Sachs shows us that we need a new economic paradigmglobal, inclusive, cooperative, environmentally aware, and science based because we are running up against the realities of a crowded planet. Jeffrey Sachs points out that if we take the right measures, there will be room for all on the planet. He points the way to the global course correction we must embrace for the sake of our common future.

Editorial Review:

If the twentieth century was the American century, then the twenty-first century belongs to China. Now the one and only Jim Rogers shows how any investor can get in on the ground floor of “the greatest economic boom since England’s Industrial Revolution.”

In this indispensable new book, one of the world’s most successful investors, Jim Rogers, brings his unerring investment acumen to bear on this huge and unruly land now being opened to the world and exploding in potential.

Rogers didn’t just wake up a Sinophile yesterday. He’s been tracking the Chinese economy since he first went to China in 1984 in preparation for his round-the-world motorcycle trip and then again, later, when he saw Shanghai’s newly reopened stock exchange (which looked like an OTB office). In the decades that followed–especially in recent years, with the easing of Communist party financial dictates–the facts speak for themselves:

• The Chinese economy’s growth rate has averaged 9 percent since the start of the 1980s.
• China’s savings rate is over 35 percent (in America, it’s 2 percent).
• 40 percent of China’s output goes to exports (so there’s no crippling foreign debt).
• $60 billion a year in direct foreign investment, combined with a trade surplus, has brought Beijing’s foreign currency reserves to over $1 trillion.
• China’s fixed assets–ports, bridges, and roads–double every two and a half years.

In short, if projections hold, China will surpass the United States as the world’s largest economy in as little as twenty years. But the time to act is now. In A Bull in China, you’ll learn what industries offer the newest and best opportunities, from power, energy, and agriculture to tourism, water, and infrastructure. In his trademark down-to-earth style, Rogers demystifies the state policies that are driving earnings and innovation, takes the intimidation factor out of the A-shares, B-shares, and ADRs of Chinese offerings, and encourages any reader to trust his or her own expertise (if you’re a car mechanic, check out their auto industry).

A Bull in China also features fascinating profiles of “Red Chip” companies, such as Yantu Changyu, China’s largest winemaker, which sells a “Healthy Liquor” line mixed with herbal medicines. Plus, if you want to export something to China yourself–or even buy land there–Rogers tells you the steps you need to take.

No other book–and no other author–can better help you benefit from the new Chinese revolution. Jim Rogers shows you how to make the “amazing energy, potential, and entrepreneurial spirit of a billion people” work for you.

A Nice Overview, Without Much Depth or Storytelling 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

"Planet Google" is a simple, well-written overview of Google and its business. The book explains how Sergey Brin and Larry Page started Google while they were students at Stanford and made it their mission to organize all of the world's information.

The various chapters in the book relate how and why Google acquired companies such as YouTube and Keyhole. The book explores the opposition and challenges that Google has faced as it has become larger and entered new areas.

I found "Planet Google" to be neither worshipful nor vindictive. It was largely unbiased reporting. The book does not say much about the people or personalities involved. There is not much time spent on anecdotal storytelling. This book is more of a straight-forward review of how Google started, what Google has done, and thoughts about Google's future.

"Planet Google" provides a good overview for someone who does not know much about the company, but does not really provide much depth.

Editorial Review:

Randy Stross reveals for the first time Googles audacious new strategy for the future of the web and explores the profound implications not only for the business world but also for our culture at large.

Very informative book 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Very informative indeed, and I am more-than-ever convinced NOT to daytrade. I know, now, that I have too little education, the wrong software, not enough energy, and not the gambling spirit. I also learned a bunch of other good stuff that can help my longer-term investing.

Excellent guide.. 4 out of 5 stars.

I don't have time to write a long review about a book, and I assume neither do you to read it. So I keep it simple and to the point:

I have read several books about day trading and this is one of the best by far. It explains in detail what to do and not to do when you attempt to trade stocks as a beginner. It will stop you from losing money and save you a lot of headaches. Make sure to read it twice!!
This book is an excellent guide to anyone new to this field, even if you don't know the technical terms. It is not boring either... I wish it had been longer..

Read it!!
