A high-end paperback at a low-end price. 5 out of 5 stars.

This Penguin edition of the Science of Getting Rich also contains Wattles' five-chapter How to Get What You Want. If you're a bibliophile, you'll also appreciate this book's ecru stock, deckle (ragged) edge, and covers that open up to serve as bookmarks.

The best Law of Attraction book I've read! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was great. It filled the gaps left after reading The Secret.
At first I was a bit turned off because of the some of the psycho-babble but in the end it was perfect. The author explain concepts well and reinterates points just frequently enough that they became something that I kind of sang along with and now I am putting in to practice everthing that I learned in the book. The book explains our place in the world and that our desire to get rich is ok and even expected. Please take the time to read/listen to the book yourself. It was quick and it won't take anything out of your life it you don't like it. I think it was wonderful.

Editorial Review:

THIS book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

You either get it or you don't 5 out of 5 stars.

As I read this book I gain flashes of insight from almost every page. I am an engineer and, while not expert in the scientific fields Wheatley discusses, I had read quite a bit about them. As I venture into unfamiliar organizational territory, I find that we have been instinctively using Wheatley's approaches. They seem especially suited to what we are endeavoring to do. Reading her book has clarified and affirmed what we are doing and allowed me to more deeply understand the processes.
Reading the reviews here, I see that some people 'get' what Ms. Wheatley is saying and some people don't. The ones who 'get it' are going to change the world.

Editorial Review:

Leadership and the New Science launched a revolution by demonstrating that ideas drawn from quantum physics, chaos theory, and molecular biology could improve organizational performance. Margaret Wheatley called for free-flowing information, individual empowerment, relationship networks, and organizational change that evolves organically -- ideas that have become commonplace. Now Wheatley's updated classic, based on her experiences with these ideas in a diverse number of organizations on five continents, is available in paperback.

Editorial Review:

The 80/20 Principle--that 80 percent of results flow from just 20 percent of our efforts--is one of the great secrets of highly effective people and organizations.

One of the decade's most original, provocative, and powerful books, The 80/20 Principle shows how you can achieve much more with much less effort, time, and resources, simply by concentrating on the all-important 20 percent.  Astonishingly, although the 80/20 Principle has long influenced today's world, Richard Koch is the first person to show how to use it in a systematic and practical way.

The pattern of predictable imbalance underlying the 80/20 Principle was first discovered a hundred years ago by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto while studying income and wealth patterns.  But the pattern of "predictable imbalance," as he termed it, crops up throughout life.  In The 80/20 Principle, Koch opens our eyes to the way the principle works through a wide range of examples in business, commerce, and virtually every aspect of our lives.  For example, 20 percent of products account for 80 percent of sales and profits; similarly, 20 percent of customers account for 80 percent of revenues.

By identifying and focusing on the 20 percent of our efforts that result in the huge bulk of our success, we can leverage our efforts to vastly increase our effectiveness.  For we discover that little of what we do really counts.  By concentrating on those things that do, we can transform our effectiveness in our jobs, our careers, our businesses, and our lives.  By showing how to unlock the enormous potential of the magic 20 percent, The 80/20 Principle will revolutionize your life.

Missing the practical approach 3 out of 5 stars.
16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

This is one of the better books about PMBOK-based ProjectManagement. But what I really miss, is a practical explanation of how to switch theory to reality. For example: The PMBOK defines 44 processes. Some of them have to be done one time (e.g. defining a Project Charter), but many process steps have to be done daily, weekly, monthly and with different participants. So, what I miss is a description how to organize all these processes during a concrete project including a project plan with all these process steps defined as meetings.
This book is a really good introduction to PM and it helps to understand every PMBOK process. But when trying to use this methodology in daily work, you dont know what steps to do with whom and when. I simply miss a kind of project calendar showing how to spread these processes over the timeline.

This book does not have a lot of depth to it - and it is somewhat dated (each year a bit more), but there are some handy examples that make it a worthwhile read... especially for the price.

The book was brand new just as described and had absolutely no flaws. The only problem I had was the slow delivery. The book was not sent out within two or three business days as promised and this caused a delay in getting the book.
