Thought provoking 5 out of 5 stars.

This book will really make you think and evaluate how you perform and react in the workplace. The book has many different sections that should assist you in how you may want to behave in your workplace. Chapters include: dealing with a difficult boss, 25 career blunders, 25 moves you must make, how to get your boss to advance your career, building your power, major players in your company and how to get them to go to bat for you, and so much more.

What I like about this book is that it does not ask you to employ and dirty or devious tricks with your co-workers, but rather, it asks you to take the high road, and to treat people well. When things do go wrong, it has many suggestions for bringing to light situations in a delicate way that will aide in helping the situation without a huge loss of face to the instigator.

I would highly recomment this book, as it may help you get to get along with your co-workers, how to deal with a difficult boss, and how to move ahead in the company. Excellent suggestions are made on networking, learning your own motivations, and tips and changes you can make in your career. This book is well worth the read.

Editorial Review:

Nothing New 1 out of 5 stars.

I didn't find this book terribly useful. Most of the concepts presented in the book were common sense and did not specifically apply to business. The book centered around typical social etiquette (which certainly applies in the business world), but did not provide much business-specific guidance. I found that most of the concepts were covered in general etiquette publications. I was also disappointed to find that the book did not provide specific solutions for breaches in business etiquette. I guess I was looking for some nice catch-phrases and replies for the business user. I do think the book was simple to read, and might be a good book for newcomers to American business etiquette.

Editorial Review:

Ann Marie Sabath, the "Ms. Manners of the Midwest," according to USA Today, offers to-the-point solutions to the most commonly asked business etiquette questions. She helps readers overcome moments of indecision, giving them the ability to function with the confidence that the impression they are making is a positive one. She helps us avoid that oh so embarrassing office faux pas, or unintentional inappropriate behavior, or appearance blunders that could lead to ridicule, social seclusion or even business disaster. This book thoroughly examines: the art of getting people to talk; proper attire; correct correspondence including rules about email; pleasing phone manners with tips about voicemail; dealing with decision-makers; handling social occasions and situations with ease and grace; international courtesy including the dos and taboos; and many business occasions where knowing the correct thing to do will pay off.

A True Success Book At Last! 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I am sorely disappointed that many of the major bookstores are not carrying The Art of Achievement.

It should be proudly displayed on the New Book stand in all its glory!

I've read other "success" oriented books and I can honestly say that Tom Morris latest book carries a depth far surpassing the majority. Although the subtitle "Mastering the 7 Cs of Success in Business and Life" may sound typical and perhaps a bit trite the vast amount of wisdom, insight, spirit and inspiration within these pages brings one to a point of realization, comfort and hope other pop books on success simply cannot touch!

If you have not been able to win friends and influence people. If your cheese has been moved and eaten up. If your prayer of Jabez is left unanswered it's time you to learn how to master the 7 c's of success!

-Kerry

Very good book. I work in a Korean Co. Very usefull points. Great opportunity to know in theory what I faced in practical reality. Lots of things are clearer now...! A very good book for starters in Korean culture interface. Covers from general aspects to details of daily situations. Easy to read. Subjects and capters ordered very well. A must-have-book for those who intend to work in Korea or in Korean Companies abroad. I strongly recommend. AV.

Great primer and reference for business in Korea 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a "must read" for Westerners unfamiliar with Korean business culture. It is well written in short, easily absorbed chapters. Mr. De Mente does a great job introducing Korean culture, and explaining how that culture is manifest in the workplace. There is an emphasis on recommendations for Westerners living and working long term in Korea. It also works well for Sales and Procurement professionals.

Editorial Review:

This book offers a penetrating view of the morals and values that shape the Korean business personality; cultural "keys" that turn Koreans on and off, and how best to communicate with them.

Korean Business Etiquette will show what really makes Korean workers tick-and how to do business the Korean way. With its authoritative scholarship, practical insights, and guidelines for foreign workers, this book is truly a "must read" for anyone doing business in Korea now or in the future.
