I remember loving this book as a child, so I was so excited to order it for my kindergarten class. Unfortunately, I purchased the book and never received it. Be careful what you order!

Eric Carle's books are very enjoyable for toddlers and young readers. Children enjoy listening to the stories and participating in the story. He is one of my favorite authors.

Great product. I was hard to find. But of course, I found it on Amazon.

the book is very small 2 out of 5 stars.

Didn't realize this was a mini-version of the book till I received it. It's about the size of an adult's hand (fingertip to palm). Doesn't make the best gift.

Two boys' review: Suess with simpler rhymes than Fox in Socks 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is one of our first bedtime books for our sons along with "Hop on Pop" and "The Foot Book". This beginner's book provides simple rhymes that are easy to learn and repeat.

We don't read this book as much anymore. We later graduated to "Fox in Socks." My oldest has returned to this book as an early reader. (I have to mix up the pages because my boys have much of the book memorized).

An Under-rated Classic!! 5 out of 5 stars.

"Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham" get all the fame and glory, and I actually don't remember ever reading "One Fish Two Fish" as a child. But I've discovered this book now that I have a three year-old of my own, and it has become our favorites. Dr. Seuss is exceptionally skilled at playing with words and rhymes and coming up with hilarious, fun, well-crafted sentences. This book contains some of his best work. The books make learning language great fun. I was amazed last night when my daughter started rattling off the sentences in the book from memory as I read it to her, and she had great fun doing it. A children's book that both children and adults can appreciate and one that inspires in children a love of learning language: what more could a parent want?

And one other editorial comment...now that I've spent much time scouring the library shelves for good books for my child, I have come to have tremendous appreciation for Dr. Seuss's talent and wit. Almost all children's book authors fall far short of the standard Dr. Seuss set decades ago. Give me "One Fish Two Fish" or "The Lorax" over "The Polar Express" any day!

Silly & Fun! 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If you're looking for a serious book about Thanksgiving, then 10 Fat Turkeys is not the book for you. This book is about ten fat turkeys walking along a fence, when one by one they fall, break the fence, and perch on a tree instead. It's funny, and intended to appeal to the very young, or young at heart. The illustrations are bright, and bold, and will appeal to young children say 1 to 5-years. My son laughs when I read this book, and now at five he's starting to read it to himself.

10 Fat Turkey's mimics the pattern in Melanie Gerth's, Ten Little Ladybugs, although Gerth's book is sweet, this work is just plain silly.

10 fat turkeys fooling on a fence.
"Looky!" says a silly turkey, swinging from a vine.
GOBBLE GOBBLE WIBBLE WOBBLE whoops! Now there are...9.

It's a lesson in simple subtraction, and one we enjoy reading after Halloween. It's not a Thanksgiving book per se, there is no mention of the holiday, or even the season. It just a fun, nonsense book for little tykes.

Editorial Review:

"Looky!" says a silly turkey swinging from a vine. Gobble gobble wibble wobble.Whoops! Now there are nine.Girls and boys will gobble up this hilarious story about ten goofy turkeys and their silly antics: swinging from a vine, strutting on a boar, doing a noodle dance, and more. Veteran author Tony Johnston has written a joyful text, which first-time illustrator Richard Deas brings to life as wild and wacky fun!

Counting Kisses. Read it, do it, love it! Priceless! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Even at five years old, my son loves it when we read Count Kisses. We read each page then count the kisses. We just fall into giggling, tickling, kissing fun. Daddy will even join in the fun. It's those moments as a Mom you will just treasure in your heart forever.

This book is just precious. Would make a GREAT baby shower gift. Who wouldn't enjoy sneaking in kisses on their baby's toes, knees, tummy, chin, hands, eyelids, and their precious round heads? Again and again and again?

The art is adorable, the writing is simple. The kisses are priceless.

Good quality book, in every respect 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

First, let me say from the top that this book is physically well-constructed. Strong pages, durable binding. Can't get better than that.

Each page has one sentence on it, counting down from ten kisses at the start to one kiss at the end. They also have (though this is subtle) a number of hearts corresponding to the number of kisses.

Very short, very simple, very sweet and (if you don't go overboard with your own kissing) very calm.

Not just for Thanksgiving? 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book on sale and planned to save it for Thanksgiving. My five month old son loved it so it is one we read a lot now. This board book has five "feathers" that make that crinkle sound babies love. I didn't give it five stars because ideally it would have a better coating around the feathers to protect it a little more from all the chewing it is forced to endure.

Adorable 5 out of 5 stars.

What a sweet little counting book for Thanksgiving! The fabric tail feathers make it a "must touch" book for children.

Awesome Turkey book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for my daughter's first Thanksgiving. She loved it. The feathers are great for her to pull and chew on. This story is a cute, fun little ditty.

Editorial Review:

Toddlers will love the silly Thanksgiving turkeys in this fun counting book full of silly turkeys doing very silly things! From twirling on a dance floor to being chased by a bee to tanning in the sun, these are no ordinary Thanksgiving turkeys. And at just $5.99, this shiny fabric–tabbed book is a holiday treat that is sure to be gobbled up quickly.

A little bit of joy in a little set of books 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

These were a set I remember from when I was young - and they are still great. Wonderful illustrations from the creative (where the wild things are) Sendak, easy to read, great rhymes and even educational. Quirky sense of humour and my daughter loves the size so they encourag her to take the books and read them herself. In short, 4 endearing, quality works well worth keeping in the family library forever!

Keepsake quality 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I always get this small collection of books by Sendak when I get a baby gift. My youngest daughter got this set long ago from her godparents and they are worn and much loved, by her parents as well as my daughter, and are now in use by her children. They are catchy, memorable rhyming stories that stay with you forever and just make you happy. The small size fits so neatly and comfortably into little hands. They become "companions" the way good books are meant to do. I highly recommend this "Nutshell Library" to everyone. Adults should have their own set!

Editorial Review:

This 4-volume boxed set contains an alphabet book, a book of rhymes about each month, a counting book, and a cautionary tale all written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak. Includes the titles Alligators All Around, Chicken Soup with Rice, One Was Johnny, and Pierre.(Titles available separately in library and paperback editions.)

Fun and educational 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 3 year old loved this when he got it last year however he ripped off the flaps so luckily when a friend got him another one he knew enough not to rip it. It encourages parent/child interaction which every child needs for development. The flaps are somewhat difficult to open initially so adult helpful supervision is recommended.

Great Book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My son loves Thomas & Friends and flap books, so this was a hit with him. One of the flaps was not completely cut, so he has messed it up trying to get it to open. I guess I will sit down and try to get it opened up and then reglue the top back down. Other than that...great book!

a great book to interact with your child 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a wonderful learning tool. On one page the flaps contain numbers 1-10, another page has railway cars carrying each letter of the alphabet. And what kid doesn't love to lift all those flaps!

Editorial Review:

Illustrated in full color.  Jam-packed with loads of flaps to "lift, look, and learn" from, this book will have young children searching for engines painted blue, green, or red, counting from 1 to 10, and learning the alphabet.

Sandra Boynton does it again 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book was purchased for my 3 year old grandson. Will give it to him this week.

Just another great book, good pictures and cute story!

Editorial Review:

The amazing Bob! The amazing Boynton! Because who else but Sandra Boynton could imagine 15 Bobs in one book? Actually, that's 14 Bobs, and one Simon James Alexander Ragsdale the Third (he's a turtle), which gives Fifteen Animals! the added dimension of being a unique counting book—count the Bobs, count the pets, count the bunnies, count the fish. The latest of the Boynton on Board Books, Fifteen Animals! also comes with a free song available via download. It's all the energy and appeal of Boynton: the lively language, distinctive illustrations, and inimitable characters. And music. And counting. And, for the first time, a person character, an earnest little boy who loves animals and happily sings:

I really like animals,
I like them a lot.
Fifteen animals is what I’ve got.
I’ve got fifteen animals.
They're friendly and tame, and
I’ve given each one a special name.

Make that Bob.

"Finger-tickling fun for toddlers"...crushing tedium for their parents 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

A well-meaning friend gave us this book, along with a bunch of others, and all I can say is that the other ones were infinitely better. It's true that our little girl (less than 2) is pretty keen on the book, but within a matter of months she had ripped out the waggling tails and I had grown very, very tired of the artist's limited repertoire of facial expressions, jokes, limp rhymes and cutesy-cuddly anthropomorphic animals. A sign of how much it compels our own toddler is that by now, she is only interested in the (admittedly mildly impressive) peacock. Elsewhere, you too will get bored and irritated by the sheer repetitiveness of it all, not to mention the actually kind of nauseating smell of the scratch & sniff skunk's tail.

There are a number of other books for very small kids that I would recommend more than this one. Judith Kerr's 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea', for example, is a truly strange and mysterious story that our girl returns to over and over again. 'Tails', however, is a one-joke book which tries to be educational but which is meanwhile relentlessly inaccurate from a zoological point of view - if you're going to show something about animals that doesn't actually feature them as characters, you could at least show them behaving in something like the ways they really behave, instead of having lions cheerfully hanging out with porcupines. Avoid.

Editorial Review:

Tails are irresistible to toddlers--though most are beyond the reach of small hands. But now there's reason for tail fans everywhere to rejoice: a colorful collection of tails created just for those eager toddlers to tug, pat, and even scratch and sniff!
Matthew Van Fleet's lovable menagerie features furry tails, spiny tails, shiny tails, and tails that wag--all designed to inspire and withstand hours of interactive play. While pulling tabs and opening gatefolds, those tail tuggers can also learn to count from one to ten. Tails is so full of action and fun that even parents will revel in repeated readings.

7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This is a great collection of books. It literally has a number of ways to use them and will grow with your child.

Wonderful ! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This collection of Eric Carle is one of my favorites. I gave it to a friend for her sons first birthday. It will hold up since the book material is sturdy & great for small fingers to hold on to. The illustrations are beautiful with colors that young children enjoy!
You will be pleased with this collection. Start reading with your child when they are young~ it is a gift for a lifetime!

Editorial Review:

Here is the perfect gift for young children learning their colors, shapes, and numbers. All four of Eric Carle’s popular new split-page board books are now packaged together in a slipcased library. A game as well as a learning experience, these early concept books are both fun and smart.

Children can turn the top pages independently from the bottom pages, creating a matching game that offers all the charm of Eric Carle’s bright collage illustrations. Collected here are My Very First Book of Colors, My Very First Book of Shapes, My Very First Book of Numbers, and My Very First Book of Words. Irresistible fun for young hands and minds!
