A wonderful classic, boardbook ed. slightly abridged 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I loved this book as a child, now my baby does, too.

This new boardbook edition (2008) is slightly different from the original edition in that a drawing or two are different and the text has been changed slightly. I am making my comparison to a "full-sized" hardcover edition published many years ago that I checked out from my local public library.

"Caps for Sale" delivers. 5 out of 5 stars.

I remember having this classic book read to me when I was a young 'un and was one of my favorites. Now I'm reading it to my young kids and they are enjoying it as much as I did and am again.

And on the very top were... the RED caps! 4 out of 5 stars.

My three year old son LOVES caps for sale! I bought the boardbook version for him because I knew it was a classic story and I remember liking it as a child. I have to admit I do think the words are a little dated or not detailed enough so sometimes I switch it up a bit adding and taking away here and there. It's a story that kids just seem to love, I recommend reading to your little one.

Good for very young toddlers 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This is a "I spy" book for beginners. My 2 1/2 old was mesmerized by it the first time he saw it and immediately asked me to "read it again". However, he found all but one of the objects relatively quickly the first time around and now it won't take him more than one minute to go through the whole book. I encourage him to look for objects that are not featured on the left pages to make it more challanging.

A must-read if you child is crazy about anything with wheels 5 out of 5 stars.

My 21-month-old son loves trains, cars, buses, tractors, diggers, motorbikes... anything he can roll along on their little wheels. I brought him to the library one day and he picked up this book and thus began our fascination with the I-Spy series. This clever book has green cars, police cars, zooming airplanes, a long choo-choo train etc hidden in places that challenges a toddler to seek out. It actually isn't all that easy! (I missed the kitty cat face for a while...) A wonderful book to read with eye-catching illustrations and catchy rhymes.

Educational 5 out of 5 stars.

This very cute book has pictures of real "neighborhood animals" and is a good educational book for little ones. My 14 mo. old enjoys it every time I read it to her. It has approx. 8-10 animals inside and also has questions for your little one to answer about each picture. Also lets you know more in detail about each animal.

my twin 2yr 9mo boys like this book, but they quickly grew bored because it was just a tad bit too easy. it's still a fun book for them to read, but with very short longevity because we got this book for christmas.

Occupies My Toddler 5 out of 5 stars.

My daugher received this as a gift when she turned 1. I was surprised to see how quickly she picked up on the game and how much she enjoyed the book. I personally like the simple rhymes and I agree with the other reviewers that it's a great way to teach patience.

Now, at 20 months, she still enjoys it. We use it to point out different colors and different objects. I can see how we can alter this game to keep challenging her through her toddler years. We also read/play this book when we need a quiet game.

Great book 4 out of 5 stars.

This is the best picture book I have found. My 1year old daughter is intrigued with the bright initeresting pictures.

Wonderfully entertaining 5 out of 5 stars.

My 11 month old daughter LOVES these books. She has since we got them about two months ago. There are big, bright pictures, and interesting pictures and backgrounds to look at. We talk about all the pictures and make the animal sounds. She loves to turn the pages herself and talks to the pictures of the babies in the book. We could probably spend half an hour each on this and the first 100 animals book.

The cardboard pages and binding are sturdy, although I wouldn't let baby use it as a chew toy. I'm getting this with the First 100 Animals for a shower gift next month.

Editorial Review:

My First 100 Words is a bright board book featuring pictures and labels of baby's first words. The spreads are themed and work out from baby's body, clothes, and the activity of the day, to playtime, going out, transport, and animals. The small format, with sturdy board pages and a soft, padded cover are ideal for baby to handle. The Busy Baby series presents a range of bright board books, many with novelties, that focus on baby's world. Full of babies, and objects and activities from their world, these lively books will stimulate children and foster their development, as well as providing a fun first introduction to books.

Good book, apparently a classic (who knew?) 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a good book of a few rhyming couplets featuring fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters, perfect length to catch the attention of a young child - and enough detail in the pictures to keep the attention of an older one!

For those people who are concerned about this sort of thing, there are some references to "the Wicked Witch" (she's not shown being any more wicked than anybody else, and she eats pie with her neighbors at the end. Wicked is just her name, I guess) in the book, and there are also a few images of the three bears being very careless with guns while hunting. I don't find that this hampers our enjoyment of this book, but if these are sensitive topics for your family, you may want to check the book out of the library before committing to a purchase.

Editorial Review:

"Each Peach Pear Plum. I spy Tom Thumb!" In this engaging, interactive book for the very young, familiar nursery-rhyme characters such as Mother Hubbard and Baby Bunting sneak their way into the gentle drawings. Even young children who might not know all the fairy-tale stars can find them lurking in the cupboard, on the stairs, or deep in the woods. In the happy finale, the whole cast meets up for plum pie in the sun, where the little one on your lap will gleefully find everyone. An American Library Association Notable Book. Cute and fun 4 out of 5 stars.

My son LOVES peek-a-boo and this is a fun book. My only concern is the durability of the flaps due to the weight of the paper used, especially in combination with the size and location of some. We'll have fun with it though.

Great Book! 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter loves lift-a-flap books, and Karen Katz's are great. She has really enjoyed reading this new book which thankfully has replaced reading Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs? every day.

Editorial Review:

It's Baby's birthday, but where is his cake? Little ones will love lifting the large, sturdy flaps to find Baby's birthday cake in this new Karen Katz board book. Children will discover sparkly foil objects under each flap until they finally find Baby's yummy, shimmery birthday cake on the final page of this adorable new title.

Great Book - Great Story for Toddlers' To Relate To! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I think this was a wonderful book. It's simple to understand that pacifiers are not forever, and there comes a time when one grows bigger and it's time to stop using them. I think this books gets the message across really well, giving a lot of positive compliments to a child when they are ready to try and reach that point that they are now "bigger" and "it's time". I would recommend this book to a parent that will soon work with their child to get rid of their pacifier a head of time, so their child knows at some point, they will stop using it. I would also recommend this book for a child that is now ready to give it up, or one that just has and is having difficulty.

Editorial Review:

For many young children, giving up the pacifier is a major milestone. This board book offers warm, comforting words and pictures to ease the transition and make it a positive experience for kids and grown-ups alike. The focus is on minimizing stress and drama, dealing with feelings of loss and frustration, finding fun things to do without a pacifier, and finally being pacifier-free. Includes helpful tips for parents.24 page illustrated 7 x 7 inch, full-color board book.

Great for detail-oriented kids and vocab building! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

My two boys, ages 3 and 2, both pull this book off the shelf over and over. I use it to teach the younger one new vocabulary (both in English and Spanish) and the older one to continue to practice his numbers (also in both languages), as well as colors. It's a great addition to the workbook Flip Flop Spanish, and also just for fun.., my littlest, a one-year-old girl, even looks at the pages and will sit with the boys to watch them. They're sturdy pages, full of all KINDS of things. The kind of book you find something new each time you open it. It has little lists to find items as well.

Editorial Review:

The fourth book in the I Spy Little Book series is a delightful learning game for preschoolers. Simple rhymes introduce toddlers to the concept of numbers, and bright picture clues allow little ones to have fun with the I Spy hunt as they practice visual discrimination and object identification. An engaging, age-appropriate leaning tool, this book features photographs from I Spy School Days that have been specially cropped for the boards book format. Learning has never been more fun!Age: 2,3,4,5 Manufacturer: Scholastic

Wonderful bedtime book 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have enjoyed this entire "Good Night Our World Series" with our son for almost 2 years now. Any child 1 1/2 years or older will love these books. I would go as old as 7 years for the reader, depending on your child. I highly recommend this particular book, Good Night America, for anyone who wants to introduce our land to their children. The quality of their books are wonderful; thick sturdy pages with colorful illustrations. The writing is simple and perfect for bedtime; lots of "hello's" and eventual "good nights" to special places around America that the book discusses. We also enjoy the other "Good Night" series of books that highlight San Francisco, Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket specifically.

Since our child has a tough time going to sleep and likes to travel, this is a perfect series for him. He goes off into dream land with quiet appreciation about adventures in a particular place he loves or wants to visit.

Also wonderful if your child has a friend who has moved to a particular town that these books cover-it will peak their interest in where their friend is living now and it'll make it an interesting experience to explore instead of a sad one. And, if sadness comes up, it is a good way to discover that your child may have deeper feelings you were unaware of around a friend moving.

The only reason I gave this one particular book in the series one less star, is because of a sentence in the book that states: "America stands for what is right". We always replace that with" "America stands for diversity." Seems an appropriate change because these words appear next to the Statue of Liberty, and we recognize the beauty of this as we are only second generation Americans. All in all, these are great books!

Editorial Review:

Young children are invited to explore the wonders of America before bed with this beautifully illustrated boardbook. Simple, rhythmic language lulls little ones to sleep as they watch a diverse group of people engage in community-oriented activities and journey to some of the nation’s majestic natural treasures—including the Everglades, Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, and redwood forests. Moving from the morning and spring through nighttime and winter, each image falls within a specific period during the day and an associated season, making this a perfect introduction to the concept of the passage of time.
