Good for very young toddlers 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This is a "I spy" book for beginners. My 2 1/2 old was mesmerized by it the first time he saw it and immediately asked me to "read it again". However, he found all but one of the objects relatively quickly the first time around and now it won't take him more than one minute to go through the whole book. I encourage him to look for objects that are not featured on the left pages to make it more challanging.

A must-read if you child is crazy about anything with wheels 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

My 21-month-old son loves trains, cars, buses, tractors, diggers, motorbikes... anything he can roll along on their little wheels. I brought him to the library one day and he picked up this book and thus began our fascination with the I-Spy series. This clever book has green cars, police cars, zooming airplanes, a long choo-choo train etc hidden in places that challenges a toddler to seek out. It actually isn't all that easy! (I missed the kitty cat face for a while...) A wonderful book to read with eye-catching illustrations and catchy rhymes.

Editorial Review:

A bright and funny learning tool, this "I Spy" board book invites toddlers and preschoolers to find the hidden cars, trains, and other "things that go" using simple, rhyming clues.

This is an adorable little board book with some fantastic feline art in it! Our first son grew up with a cat in the house and this book was one of his favorites. I remember him crawling after the cat with this book in one hand when he was about 9 months old, as if to say "Hey wait! I have this book you'll love!" :>) This is a must-have for any feline-loving home. The colorful images range from classical paintings to modern art. You can also get Baby Einstein's Baby, Birds, and Dogs for a nice set.

Yawn 1 out of 5 stars.

My 11 month old is completely bored with this book. She doesn't even want to look at the pictures, she just tries to turn the pages as fast as she can to get to the end. Also, it is a teeny book! Much smaller than I expected even after reading other people's reviews. We have several of the Baby Einstein books, none of which get opened very often. Stick with the classics. Dr. Seuss is a winner every time!

Cats (Baby Einstein) 2 out of 5 stars.

A little underwhelming. My 9 month old daughter has little interest in these Baby Einstein books (we also have "Dogs" and "Babies"). The size is smaller than you would expect, but the real problem is that the content is not very exciting.

Entertaining for little ones throughout the infant, toddler, and preschool years 5 out of 5 stars.

This series of "that's not my" books is really done well. Bright colors with fun themes that kids like, and happy images. Good mix of textures in each book. My son loved them before he was one year old and was just reading this very book with delight a couple of days ago, and he's almost four. I highly recommend these (and almost anything else Usborne!)

bedtime book 5 out of 5 stars.

Love this book! My 5 month old has been reading this before every nap and every night before bedtime. It's the only book he doesn't squirm away from! It's repetitive and the contrasting colors are enchanting! Love it!

Great book 4 out of 5 stars.

My 1 year old son loves this book and the different textures. The only thing that could be better are more words or a story. All that the book keeps saying is "That's not my Dinosaur." But over all it's worth the money!

Editorial Review:

Every double page of this book features an interesting texture to feel, such as bumpy teeth or slippery flippers, as the reader explores the surface of a toy dinosaur. Combined with simple text and illustrations this is intended to help very young children develop sensory and language awareness.

Delightful 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is a delight for kids and adults. It's fun to read out loud, with goofy creature names like yottle, nooth grush and quimney. I've read it many times to my two kids without getting tired of it. The artwork is fun and playful. What else would you expect from Dr. Seuss?

fun book 5 out of 5 stars.

All right book, rhyming book with creatures, but a bit pointless 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

My 4 year old daughter is quite interested in this book but doesn't really like it. She keeps hoping, (I think) that there is more too it.

The joy in this book is that it is all about rhymes, nureau's in the bureau, tellar, sellar, bellar etc in the cellar and so on. Which is a nice early rhyme style story - learning about sounds and I guess you could say the texture and rules of language. However the story is almost pointless. Some of these animals are good and some aren't - but it is difficult to tell while - the Nofa on the Sofa is apparently an animal he doesn't like, but it just appears to be reading a book quietly.

I found the illustrations a bit unsatisfying as well. They are in colour, but when I compare them to the glorious detail of Horton Hatches an Egg (which is only coloured in three colours) then the Wocket in the Pocket does not match by any stretch of the imagination.

It is a simple easy story to rattle off at bedtime, it teaches rhyme but it doesn't inspire my children.

Most colorful 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a toddlers dream come true lots of bright colors and thing to of that color to pracrice talking and learning.

Woo hoo! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Exciting, amazing, impressive, these are just a few words that describe the works of DK Publishing. This work is on par with the pinnacles of the Romantic era, sure to become a modern classic in scope and style. The characters are likable, but each embodies subtle flaws that make them the subject of realistic empathy.

But seriously, it's got bright colors and it's nice to look at. The color examples are better than a lot of color books.

Editorial Review:

DK continues to put early learning first with the award-winning My First series. Providing parents with the necessary tools to give their children a head start, DK's award-winning, best-selling My First series are the essential preschool learning tools for young children. Specially designed with large, colorful photographs and simple labels that introduce first words and concepts, My First books make learning easy and fun for children from birth to five.

my twin 2yr 9mo boys like this book, but they quickly grew bored because it was just a tad bit too easy. it's still a fun book for them to read, but with very short longevity because we got this book for christmas.

Occupies My Toddler 5 out of 5 stars.

My daugher received this as a gift when she turned 1. I was surprised to see how quickly she picked up on the game and how much she enjoyed the book. I personally like the simple rhymes and I agree with the other reviewers that it's a great way to teach patience.

Now, at 20 months, she still enjoys it. We use it to point out different colors and different objects. I can see how we can alter this game to keep challenging her through her toddler years. We also read/play this book when we need a quiet game.

A little bit of fun for the very young set 4 out of 5 stars.

This was a gift for my 2 year old grandson. He finds it almost too easy, so I would suggest giving it to even younger children. It is good for interactive visual reading activity.

Editorial Review:

The original I Spy book has been adapted for younger children. Rhyming riddles with picture clues in a sturdy board book format make this perfect for preschoolers. Full color.

This is the best picture book I have found. My 1year old daughter is intrigued with the bright initeresting pictures.

Wonderfully entertaining 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My 11 month old daughter LOVES these books. She has since we got them about two months ago. There are big, bright pictures, and interesting pictures and backgrounds to look at. We talk about all the pictures and make the animal sounds. She loves to turn the pages herself and talks to the pictures of the babies in the book. We could probably spend half an hour each on this and the first 100 animals book.

The cardboard pages and binding are sturdy, although I wouldn't let baby use it as a chew toy. I'm getting this with the First 100 Animals for a shower gift next month.

Editorial Review:

My First 100 Words is a bright board book featuring pictures and labels of baby's first words. The spreads are themed and work out from baby's body, clothes, and the activity of the day, to playtime, going out, transport, and animals. The small format, with sturdy board pages and a soft, padded cover are ideal for baby to handle. The Busy Baby series presents a range of bright board books, many with novelties, that focus on baby's world. Full of babies, and objects and activities from their world, these lively books will stimulate children and foster their development, as well as providing a fun first introduction to books.

A nice book to read to your children. 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

When it's time to put the kids to bed I highly recommend you read this book "Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest," a midquel to the beloved story "Bambi." The book is pretty short only being 23 pages long with large print. Because the print is large and pretty easy to read this would be an ideal book for young children to start reading. The book also has very beautiful illustrations to incorporate with the imagination.

The book takes place after Bambi's mother dies and the Great Prince is force to take care of him until winter is over; teaching him the ways of the forest. At first the Great Prince is reluctant but he opens up to him at the end. It has some laughs, action and very touching moments. You also see Bambi's old friends like Thumper, Flower, Friend Owl and his sweet heart Faline. You also see Bambi's rival Ronno who teases and picks on Bambi. After all Bambi has learned from his father he took all that and put it into use by saving his surrogate mother Mena from man.

So if you need a good book to read for your kids then this book would be perfect for you!

Editorial Review:

Beautiful artwork from the 1940s stunningly illustrates young Bambi's journey from fawn to prince of the forest! The classic Disney film is retold in this vintage Little Golden Book - perfect for Disney fans young and old.

Superb--Great First Book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The storyline is very simple, a good complement to illustrations that are colorful and detailed enough to hold the attention of very young children. We got this when my first son was about 9 mos. old; within the next year he had it memorized and could "read" it to us. My son is now 22 (YEARS old) and my husband and I can still recite the book . . .

It's dry and it doesn't smell bad 5 out of 5 stars.

This book arrived very dry, which is good. Also, it doesn't smell bad like our other one did. Not that it smell good, mind you. I don't know if I'd say that it smells good, but it sure doesn't smell bad. Our last one smelled like cat pee and was wet. This one is way better. Besides, our boy loves this book.

Excellent 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book is so innocent and unassuming. But inside its cover are so many things for your child to learn and wonder at. Illustrations are superb. I want to get out a flora and fauna encyclopedia so I can tell my son what each of these flowers, frogs and butterflies are. The detail is just astonishing. I wish to find more books like this. It can be read to a tiny baby or a 5 year old!

Editorial Review:

This colorful, sturdy board book follows Nicholas Rabbit through the seasons, in a simply-told story with charming illustrations. Full color.

Hugo's commentary on the death penalty 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This novel was written as an argument against the death penalty. The victim was a young, naive innocent girl caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. She was falsely charged by an overzealous prosecutor, then condemned to death for a crime that didn't even take place!

After being rescued by Quasimoto and hiding from the crowds, the King, thinking the mob wanted her hanged, ordered her death, with no knowledge or even any interest in her situation. Thus, she was murdered.

I never previously paid much attention to the debates charging that the death penalty should be abolished, nor did I understand the reasons. I must say, however, that as hard as it was for me to read this book, (I'm not experienced at reading the classics) it changed my mind and made me see the problems with the death penalty.

Editorial Review:

With spectacular pageantry, memorable music, and endearing characters, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is destined to become a classic. Designed for little hands, these four tiny books tell simple stories about Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and other characters from the film. Full color.-3 yrs.
