Terrific! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This a a SUPER choice for little ones preparing to become older siblings. Although somewhat detailed with regard to "mommy's womb", "umbilical cord" and "baby's development" still enthralling to my 3 year old. She LOVES this book.

The art is great and the book helps the little one to feel like they can really play a special part in the new baby's life. It even focuses on nursing and the benefits behind it. Good for you Lizzy Rockwell!

I highly recommend this one. The best I have found. There are not many choices out there unfortunately.

Editorial Review:

Told from the point of view of a three-year-old whose mother is expecting, Our Baby is a slice-of-life picture book describing all the new experiences that siblings-to-be are likely to encounter. The young narrator feels the baby kick inside his mother's tummy, listens to its heartbeat during a doctor's visit, and sees a chart showing how the fetus grows inside the womb.  At home, his parents are busy preparing a nursery and unpacking his old baby clothes.  When Mom goes into labor, Grandma comes to stay and tells him about the day he was born and they look at pictures showing how he has grown from newborn to toddler.  He gets to visit his mother and Baby Eliza in the hospital, and when they come home, he is ready to assume his new role as big brother.  With its soft, sweet illustrations and non-threatening approach, Our Baby is a perfect blend of story and information, encompassing all the changes that come with a new baby.

Well liked by my toddler already 4 out of 5 stars.

She's only had this a week (she got it in her Easter basket) and my 2 year old already loves the book and is "reading" it to me. Granted, she LOVES Barney, BJ and Baby Bop, so it's great that all make an appearance here. She also got the Zoo book (lift the flap book) and loves that one as well. Good picks by the Easter Bunny!

Great toddler book 5 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

In this book Maisy and Charley go grocery shopping. My two year old loves grocery shopping and is fascinated by the book. We read it over and over and over. Actually it is great for me too, because I use it to talk about what kind of foods we can buy at the grocery store. Maisy and Charley buy apples, bananas, yogurt, bread etc... It is a good opportunity to get in a plug for nutritious foods.

Maisy at the Grocery Store 3 out of 5 stars.
6 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world.

Both of my daughters love the Maisy books; there's something about their simple stories and colorful pictures that even appeals to adults. The books are short and easy to read. But, the stories are never obnoxiously simplistic, like so many other books for small children.

Maisy visits Charlie only to find his cupboards are bare, so its off to the grocery store. For reasons known only to them, my children aren't real wild about this Maisy book. Still, like all Maisy books, they liked it the first time around; maybe we've just read this one too many times.

Editorial Review:

Two new adorable new Maisy toys with favourite books strapped to their backs! These wonderfully cute Maisy dolls each carry a little backpack with a velcro fastening, which opens to reveal a board book version of a bestselling Maisy picture book. Soft and huggable, these ingenious "plush pals" combine all the fun of a Maisy doll with the entertainment of a picture book. The front and back covers of the mini picture book are slotted into convenient pockets in Maisy's rucksack and can be removed if the toy needs washing. Maisy fans everywhere will soon be inseparable from their Maisy Plush Pals!

daily favorite 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this book for my curriculum at school for my 4 year olds. But my grandson loves it so much that it hasn't made it to school yet. It is one of his daily favorites that we have to read multiple times. I love the informational components (he now knows what tracks, pistons, jacks, etc. are and what they do). I also love the rhyming component. It is a wonderful story especially if your child loves machines.

A book toddlers will love 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My twin toddlers love this book. The author has tapped into all their obsessions - diggers, trains, airplanes, fire engines and rockets - in his series. They love the rhymes and the simple text makes it easy for them to join in while you are reading. A real hit with the two year old boy set!

Catchy, fun books for toddlers who like all trucks 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

our 2 1/2 year old son is realy enjoying the whole "amazing machines" series. i like them too. they are fun, and the rhymes are clever. they even give me more to talk about with my son when we see different trucks that go by. i can "discuss" the truck parts, and the jobs that the trucks do. in my opinion, a very fun series that has helped me spend quality time with my little truck lover.

Editorial Review:

In "Dazzling Diggers", a wacky animal crew take charge, inviting children to join them on the building site. This text makes learning about machines fun for young children.

My Daughter's First Maisy Book 3 out of 5 stars.

This was the first Maisy book we ever bought our oldest daughter. Both of of our daughters still like it as Maisy attempts to take a bath but finds herself interrupted by Tallulah. Not one of my personal favorites, although I really can't explain why. I suspect my children are part fish, so maybe they like it because of that fact and because they love bath time (or any other opportunity to get wet).

Editorial Review:

When Tallulah comes to visit at bathtime she decides to join Maisy in the bath to play.

Brings Back Memories!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the best book ever... My mother used to read this book to me at bedtime every night and I loved it so much. It was also one of the first books I learned to read on my own. It is great that I could find it on here. I gave the one I had when I was little to my nephew. I am going to purchase this one for myself and for the friends of mine who already have children...This will definitely be on my childrens' shelves when I plan to start a family. A Great and simple read that teaches children to appreciate the little things..
Thanks for reading...

uses word dumb 1 out of 5 stars.

was excited about this book for my daughter, Nora; but it uses the word "dumb" multiple times.

Great Children's Book 5 out of 5 stars.

This a one of the great classic children's books. Can't miss being a success with your child. You can read it to him or her or let a beginning reader try it as one of their first books.

Noisy Nora 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

ISBN 0803718357 - It's been a while since I've reviewed a kids' book that needed a note for certain parents with certain child-raising ideas. If you're one of them, you'll want to pass up this book - Nora's sister calls her "dumb" twice and Nora's behavior is... well, bad. If, however, you're able to overlook that, or just don't care about it, and want to get your child into books, this is one that I guarantee they'll love to have read to them.

Nora's parents are spending all of their time with Jack, the baby, and their sister Kate. Nora feels neglected and makes noise, hoping to get their attention, but all she gets is shushed. She finally does get it - by announcing that she's leaving! They worry and look for her until she reappears again, quite noisily.

Other than the "dumb" comments, some parents might find Nora's behavior bad enough to keep them from getting this book for their child. She slams the door, knocks over the lamp and flies a kite in the house. Personally, she's a mouse, I never expected my child to take his behavioral cues from rodents and he didn't; if you think yours might, then you need to find another book.

Those exceptions out of the way, I think this book is adorable. If, at first glance, you think Nora resembles Max, she should - they have the same mother. Author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, mom of Max and Ruby and Nora, seems to understand what will work for children and laughing, something Nora will make them do, is a surefire way to get them to come back again and again. The illustrations are great, Nora is just hilarious in her frustrated efforts to get attention and there's the chance for a parent to talk to their own child about the RIGHT way to get attention - once everyone's stopped laughing at Nora. Parents with a new baby in the house might find that aspect particularly appealing because a new baby's arrival is certainly a time when an older sibling might feel ignored.

- AnnaLovesBooks

Editorial Review:

It's tough being the middle mouse. No one's paying any attention to Nora, so she decides to do something her family can't ignore: make noise. Nora slams windows, bangs doors, and upsets furniture, to no avail. It's not until she crashes out the door--and the house goes strangely silent--that her family realizes: a noisy Nora is much better than no Nora at all.

not great 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The drawings are pretty ugly, and the text is really blah. It's written in a very dry, almost clinical way. It talks about baby safety, and how the baby comes out, grandma coming over to stay, but the baby never actually arrives in this book. This is not one I'll keep.

Definitely for older kids 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and bought this book thinking it would be a great introduction for our little guy. I read two pages and realized this is not the book! This is a great book for older kids, but definitely not for preschool age. Too clinical and way to complicated for little ones.....again I would not recommend unless you have older children.

great book for older siblings 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book that prepares a little boy named Sam for what to expect from his little brother. IT is a bit too long for my 2 yr. old son, so we only pick and choose some pages. I would recommend this for kids 4+. comes with a nice CD,though. m

Pull Up a Chair 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful story with delightful illustrations about a young boy who is feeling displaced because he has a baby sister on the way. He is upset to see his old layette painted pink for baby Susie and his infant toys passed down to her.

The one thing that has escaped the fate of the pink paint is his old toddler chair. Peter stashes his chair away and later sets up a clever trap to fool everyone into thinking he is hiding behind the curtains. Peter tries to reclaim his old seat, but he has long outgrown it.

Sadder, but wiser, he accepts his new sister and even gives her a prized gift. This is a wonderful classic!

great book 5 out of 5 stars.

One of my favorite author...love all of Keats books. Great for children who have a new sibling in the home.

Peter's Chair - the best for sibling issues 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My daughter is over thirty years old. But when she got "Peter's Chair" at 18 months, she asked that it be read to her - over and over - so much that she could open the book, turn the pages, and "read" it to herself. She did it almost verbatim except came up with the word "crocogator" when she saw Peter's favorite play animal. The story is about Peter's acceptance of the fact that his new sister was with the family to stay. Ezra Jack Keats's books are all good, but this is my favorite to give to any child who has a new sibling.

Editorial Review:

Peter learns to accept the new baby sister in the family. "(Keats') skillful and imaginative use of collage creates a picture book that delights the eye and wins the heart."--Teacher. Full color.
