My son loves dinosaurs this book really helps me to teach him how to properly clean his room.

we love the dinosaurs! :D 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought all of the Jane Yolen books I could find in here and had them shipped to my daughter for my grandchildren. She said that they are helping a lot and that the kids love them...and the kids told me they LOVE dinosaurs over the phone! :D The three year old is autistic and had a meltdown if anyone cleaned her room or moved anything...now, with the help of this book...she cleans it up with the dinosaurs ideas and she has no problem with the dinosaurs telling her what to do LOL. I do remember when my own daughter was a child, having Bert and Ernie puppets talk to her and tell her what they would like done and how well it worked. Well, this is the same theory and really helping with an autistic child especially.

Editorial Review:

Come along for some BIG fun as your favorite dinosaurs learn to pick up and put away their toys. How do dinosaurs clean their rooms? With trash cans and dusters and brooms! Now Jane Yolen's playful, read-aloud text and Mark Teague's hilarious illustrations show your own little dinosaurs just how fun and easy it can be. Brimming with the same infectious humor as the other HOW DO DINOSAURS tales, this new board book is a perfect companion to the immensely popular picture books and a great baby gift as well.

What every Children's book Should Strive to Be 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book truly has it all! The story takes place at night and goes through a shimmering array of charcoal looking style illustrations that seem to perfectly showcase kitten during his journey of discovery without detracting from the simplicity and sheer determination of a naive baby kitten. You can't help but laugh even as an adult at the adventures this poor, tiny kitten has in his quest for the irresistible bowl of milk (I mean of course kitten thinks the moon is a bowl of milk its her first moon and shes clearly not properly informed about the moon and how it glistens in the sky and obviously beckons to her "come drink me"). She runs, she climbs, she leaps, and even ends up soaking wet in what she thinks is another bowl of milk only to find that in the end everything she wants is waiting for her right on her very own doorstep. I love reading this to my daughter I never get sick of it, this book will absolutely stand the test of time! In fact I was so smitten with this book I've gone on to buy at least five other Kevin Henkes books for my daughter who ironically has a floral name as does most of Henke's mouse characters and their all as equally fantastic as kitten, but in my opinion for a reader with a bigger attention span 2 and a half+. I actually think "Kittens first full moon" would be absolutely amazing as a board book and so I recommend it from birth+.

Erin Hunter has to stop while she's behind.... 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Okay, so my friend bought this book and read it, then let me borrow it. I finished it in a few days and decided this:
Erin Hunter's works have really gone down hill....
I thought it was great how Hunter showed us the reality of what wild bears are currently going through due to mankind's disregard to the environment, but the way she shot down characters one by one, that whole Ujurak thing...it makes very little sense. My friend and I both decided we aren't going to bother with the rest of the series, to be honest. It was well written and all, but I just couldn't get in to it..it wasn't gripping enough I guess.
Warriors still takes the cake..and I don't even LIKE cats.

Editorial Review:

Three bears . . . one destiny

From the author of the nationally bestselling Warriors books comes a brand-new animal fantasy series. Three young bears from different species—black, polar, and grizzly—are separated from their families when they are just young cubs. They find themselves brought together on a perilous journey. Fate is about to change all these bears lives forever, setting their paws on a path toward a future they cannot yet imagine . . .

Beautiful Book 3 out of 5 stars.

This book is beautifully illustrated. The simple story has enough repetition for little ones to quickly start reading aloud with you. The story of love, acceptance, and putting others first told in this book is heartwarming and delightful.

This is a sweet book for a little one. It tells the story of Jesus's birth in a way that someone very young can understand. The picture illustrations are so beautiful, they almost tell the story themselves. A great way to introduce a child to the real meaning of Christmas and certainly a book for them to read over and over every year.

Great Book 5 out of 5 stars.

A Retelling of the Christmas Story for Both Children and Adults 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Often we forget that the innkeeper who allowed Mary and Joseph to use his stable did so from kindness, not from dismissal, or meanness as is sometimes depicted. Both the innkeeper and his ox, Kind Ox, give all that they have to give in that moment, just the warmth of a humble stable. As the ox rests in his stable one cold winter night, one by one he sees a stray animal weary with cold, and Kind Ox (The Holy Spirit) invites them to spend the night in his shelter, where there is no fear, only warmth, peace and love. The night wears on and eventually the tired donkey carrying Mary comes to the stable and is entreated to come inside, since "There's always room for a little one here."

This beautiful book reminds us that Our Lord works miracles through even the humblest, as Kind Ox displays the great love of the Holy Spirit, a love that is a foretaste of Heaven. The illustrations have that golden glow and hazy dreamlike quality that give the art a timeless feeling. A retelling of the Christmas story that both a little one and an adult will enjoy and ponder upon.

I bought this book for my 4 year old grandson who sometimes has 'scared' moments that upset him. He loves this book because it both acknowledges a fear and shows how it is conquered by caring friends.

Another classic "Bear" story 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We received the first "Bear Snores On" book as a baby gift years ago. Our only child is now six years old and everyone in our family can recite the "Bear" books by heart (I've even broken out with the rhymes at work). As Alaska residents, where folks routinely get mauled by bears within city limits, it's nice to put a friendly face on a potentially scary animal.

This book is a great compliment to the series, we love it just as much as the other one. We anxiously await the next chapter in "Bear's" life.

Two Hooves Up! 5 out of 5 stars.
18 of 18 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed reading this book with all of the true stories like a girl who babysits minature horses, a girl who show jumps, a rodeo rider and much more storyies. But if you If you want to learn about how to take care of horses thhis is not the right book. I love the information in the back of the book and the trading cards though. It tells you a typical day at a horse farm and tells you about some grooming tools and the parts of tack. Over all I think this book rocks. and should get two hooves up!

Great for young horse riders 5 out of 5 stars.

My 9 year old daughter (and I,her mother) really enjoyed this book. Although intended for young girls, I also learned from it. The book does a great job of explaining different kinds of riding and of some of the work involved in taking care of horses. I would highly recommend it for someone interested in taking riding lessons.

Great for horse lovers everywhere! 5 out of 5 stars.

I loved this book! It had cool stories about girls and their horses. I love horses and this book told me about what other girls do to take care of their horses. I also loved the horse trading cards, hey had many differnt kinds of horses on them. I also learned many things you can do on a horse. I think that if you love horses than this is for sure the perfect book for you!! I also loved all the full colored pictures. I would recommend this book fo everybody! -kristen

We LOVE this book! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is one of those books that I could read every night and not get sick of. In fact, over the past three years I HAVE read it every night for weeks at a time and still love the flow of the text.

My favorite lines include, "And she gazed at the sky, the sea, the land, The waves and the caves and the golden sand. She gazed and gazed, amazed by it all, And she said to the whale, 'I feel so small.'" The word "small" is in a smaller font than the rest of the text and is so appropriate for the two page spread that includes the tiny snail (barely visible) amidst a scene of snowy mountains, forests, bears, bald eagles, the sea.

Perfect for teaching the concept that it doesn't matter how big or small you are, you ARE important and CAN be successful. As the snail sets off on his mission (I won't spoil it), the text reads "'I must not fail,' said the tiny snail." GREAT lesson!

Can you tell that we love this book?!?!?

Editorial Review:

When a tiny snail meets a humpback whale, the two travel together to far-off lands. It’s a dream come true for the snail, who has never left home before. But when the whale swims too close to shore, will the snail be able to save her new friend?

From the creators of Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo comes this touching tale of adventure and friendship. With vibrant illustrations and rhymes that are both playful and lyrical, here is a story that shows us that even the smallest creatures can help others in a big way.

Fireflies 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a teacher and have been using this book with my 3rd graders for a few years now. They can make many connections with this book and can infer and make predictions when the story is done. It is a great book because they've all got some story to tell about catching fireflies.

Great story! 5 out of 5 stars.

Catching fireflies 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Hasn't almost everyone, at one time or another, captured fireflies on a warm summer evening? This story tells about such an activity. All you need is a jar with air holes punched in the lid and the patience to carefully collect these lightning bugs and, of course, your parent's permission. It is fun to collect the insects, then to go to a very dark place (like your bedroom) and watch the bugs light up and throw a dull glow all over your bedroom. But, don't forget to let the lightning bugs go free outside before you go to sleep...Tomorrow is another day and you can collect more lightning bugs then. Have fun and enjoy reading about one of my favorite bugs, other than lady bugs.

Editorial Review:

A young boy is proud of having caught a jar full of fireflies, which seems to him like owning a piece of moonlight, but as the light begins to dim he realizes he must set the insects free or they will die.

Second Generation to Enjoy This Book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The Big Hungry Bear was a favorite of my grandchildren and I took great delight in reading it to them while they cuddled on my lap. They are grown now and I have a great grandchild on the way and bought the book as a gift for my grand daughter to read it to her new niece. It was the book I had my grandson (the father of the new baby) read to me when he first learned how to read. I'm sure the "greats' will enjoy this book as well as the Christmas Big Hungry Bear book too.

Editorial Review:

A book for pre-school and early primary readers, The Big Hungry Bear is the story of a little mouse and you (you are the only one who speaks). What you try to do is trick the mouse into giving you his 'red, ripe strawberry' by making him think 'a big hungry bear' is chasing him, wanting to take it away.

Charming, endearing, and timeless! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This has always been my favorite Christmas Book (just edging out "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by a glowing-red nose!). I'm happy to say that I own an original first printing of both books, but it's "Willowby" that I continue to purchase, year after year, for my friends and their children.

The charm of this story lies in the "one person's discards are another person's treasures" category. The oversufficient tree that old man Willowby brings into his mansion is snipped on top to clear his cathedral ceiling, and every recipient into whose hands the pruned remnant falls must perform the same whittling fix to adapt the orphaned fir to his own, progressively more spartan, hovel. Passing from maidservant to gardener to a scavenging bear and other various critters, after smaller and smaller sprigs make the rounds throughout the countryside near Willowby's estate, the last one eventually ends up with a family of mice who just happen to live in Mr. Willowby's wall! Thus, one huge tree is inadvertently able to make everyone's Christmas a bit brighter! Joy to the world!

Robert Barry's verses are easily read, and are exquisitely enhanced by the accompanying artwork -- especially the portrayal of the Benjamin Rabbit family. Too cute! While "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree" is no doubt a children's story, at Christmas aren't we really ALL children? And what better way to enjoy one's Yuletide holiday than with a delightful, uplifting tale where everyone wins?

Editorial Review:

Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree
Came by special delivery.
Full and fresh and glistening green--
The biggest tree he had ever seen.

That was the trouble. Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree was so tall, it couldn't stand up straight in his parlor. Mr. Willowby asked his butler to chop off the top of the tree. What happens to the treetop? Where will it be for Christmas?
