Great Book for Golf, which you can apply to entire lifestyle 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a 24 year old former collegiate golfer, and this book is probably one of the best I have read for golf specific training. The exercises are described well and the workouts are easy to follow. There is also a nutrition section which talks about how to be healthier day to day as well as what to eat pre / during a round. For anyone looking to increase flexibility, strength, power, eat better, prevent injury, this book is a must.

Just a side note, but the movement prep sequence for the workouts / pre round are worth the price of this book itself. I will never workout or play golf again without completing the Movement Prep beforehand, it is the best stretching / warm up routine I have seen.

I highly recommend this book.

I'll admit, when I first picked up this book, I was a little skeptical of John Little's workout suggestions. How is it possible to work out for MINUTES a week and achieve any kind of results?

Turns out, John Little knows his stuff.

By pushing your body to the max (which means doing extremely heavy loads of weight for a very short amount of time), you're asking the most of your muscles. Which means they continue to grow and develop. Other exercise programs would have you do 15 or 30 reps at a low weight, which does nothing to encourage actual muscle growth.

In this book, John teaches you how to make the most of your exercise time, and destroys some of the myths about which muscles you need to keep in shape in order to maximize your golf game (it's all of them, folks, not just the arms and shoulders).

Don't be fooled by the title, though. Even if you're not a golfer, just a busy person who'd like to get in shape but doesn't have time to spend 2 hours a night in the gym, this book is a perfect starting point.

Pilates is great for anyone even non golfers 5 out of 5 stars.

After a severe back spasm, I was told to try Pilates by my golf instructor. He has been doing Pilates for years. I looked for a good instruction book and decided on this one. It covers every exercise in detail and ramps you up slowly so you gain strength and flexibility. Within 3 weeks my back was feeling wonderful. After a few months I could feel the difference in my golf swing. It's been 6 months now and my golf game has much improved and I last 18 holes without getting tired. I now know I'll never have another back spasm and my game will keep improving.

I used the yoga positions in the book to help me increase my flexibility and relax my mind. Does yoga increase flexibility? That's a definite. The writing in the book is well-done and is simple to follow.....

When I go to play golf I'm definitely more relaxed and more focused because of what I learned and practiced from this book.

One of the biggest mistakes non-golfers and even casual duffers make about the Royal and Ancient game is assuming you don't have to be in shape to play it. The truth is, golf can be an exhausting affair. You can't be a physical wreck and play golf consistently well; as in any sport, the better your condition, the better your chance of success. Two-time U.S. Open champ Ernie Els uses his Guide to Golf Fitness as both a soapbox to stress the benefits of good conditioning and a virtual gym to present a series of general and golf-specific exercises designed to drop your scores as successfully as a good putting tip.

Els developed his program--geared specifically to address a golfer's strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular system--with David Herman, the fitness trainer who helped Els shed the 15 pounds he credits with the resurgence of his game and better health overall. Though many of the exercises--all of which Els himself demonstrates in photographs--require gym equipment, others don't, and while all provide a workout, the program can be easily adjusted in its difficulty and demands to fit any level of desire and ability.
