A favorite of my two year old daughter 4 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

What a pleasure to have well written poetry that appeals to my 2 year old daughter! This book is a current favorite of hers, and we read it to her every night. The classic poems by AA Milne are as appealing to me as they are to her, and the illustrations by Ernest H Shepard make me look forward to my daughter growing up with all of AA Milne's books.

One disappointment - nowhere in the book does it point out (for the parent reading them over and over) that the poems contained in the book are often parts of larger poems written by A.A. Milne. You'll need to find a different book if you want the full poems of "Us Two", "Vespers", and "Nursery Chairs" for example.

Otherwise, a great book to add to your child's collection!

Editorial Review:

Generations of children have grown up reading and rereading A. A. Milne's verses, hums, and rhymes from his Winnie-the-Pooh storybooks and two volumes of poetry. This lovely gift collection gathers ten of these delightful verses, carefully chosen for the very youngest of Pooh's fans, accompanied by Ernest H. Shepard's beloved drawings in full color. Here are such favorites as "Furry Bear," "Us Two," "Vespers," and more.

Elegantly designed with a special padded cover and gold edges, this charming volume is the perfect introduction for a whole new generation to the Best Bear in All the World-Winnie-the-Pooh.

Feel good read of the year? 4 out of 5 stars.

I say put this in your bathroom...
Seriously folks, there comes a time in every child's life when they must learn of the unpleasant, but some what adventurous sensation of constipation.
I think its great the authors used the metaphor of a rabbit and his hidey hole, but perhaps a ground hog being afraid of its shadow (the whole ducking in and out thing) would be more appropriate?
Also, their solution involved honey.. I would have gone the magic "It's not really chocolate in grandma's medicine cabinet" route.

A wonderful winter tale 5 out of 5 stars.

For those especially who live where there's lots of snow - this book is a reminder of the wonderful side of winter. There are a few pages of activities at the back of the book , that add to a child's enjoyment. Another wonderful pooh book (we can't get enough of Pooh)

Funs and Crafts 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is one of my 3-year old's favorite books, and we read it year-round. All of the Pooh gang must convince Rabbit to stop worrying about keeping the leaves in a tidy pile and start having fun in them instead. What's especially nice is that Christopher Robbin has the whole gang do a series of little craft projects with the leaves, all of which are easy for little ones to do and require only things you tend to have in the house (e.g. paper, crayons, glue and paint). It's wonderful to read the book and then head out to hunt leaves for the crafts. This book makes for a great afternoon!

Classic Pooh story, warm and inviting 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a very good story about patience, gardening and friendship-my son just loves Winnie the Pooh and this story is no exception--if fact this collection of Winnie the Pooh First Readers are all a real treat-

An excellent story for young children learning to read 4 out of 5 stars.

When she was young, my daughter loved all stories about Winnie the Pooh and I know she would have loved this one. Pooh plants a pumpkin seed in early spring and wants to grow a great pumpkin. He goes to the cupboard and gets a large number of honey jars and takes them to the garden. All summer long he sits eating honey and watching the pumpkin vine grow. The story goes through all the stages of the growth of the pumpkin, from early sprout, to the blossom, to the green bulb and finally to the large orange pumpkin. Since he has consumed so much honey, Pooh's belly has taken on a shape similar to that of the pumpkin. When the pumpkin is finally ripe, Pooh and his friends carve it into the best jack-o'-lantern in the Hundred-Acre-Wood.
The artwork in the book is excellent and totally in keeping with the Winnie the Pooh tradition and the text is large and easy to read. If I had encountered this book when my daughter was younger, I would have read it to her many times.

Wonderful Book (Cute Series) 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful book for young children. Wonderful illustrations as well as simple words and sentences for toddlers and early readers. My 3 year old loves to have any of the books in this series read to him. He especially loves it when his 7 year old cousin reads them to him.

Great story, soft illustrations 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

We have three of the Winnie-the-Pooh first reader series, Pooh's Honey Tree, Pooh Gets Stuck, and this title. My 20 month old daughter loves all of them, but I was disappointed by the illustrations in this book. The story is great, about what makes a best friend and how it is important to BE a good friend, too. I just wish the illustrations, which are soft colors and sort of wishy-washy were closer to the familiar bright Disney-style images in the other books we have.

Independent Reading for Grade 1 5 out of 5 stars.

school project 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Pooh and his friends were having a best costume contest. Pooh started to trick or treat the honeybees and they started chasing them. They ran and finally got away from them. I think this is a good story for kids to read it teaches you how friends will always stick together no matter what through everything. They wont leave you behind ever or make you feel left out. Rabbit said he didn't like halloween. Piglet didn't have a costume. Piglet stayed in his house because he was frightened of halloween, so Pooh arrived at his house and visited him. Pooh was in trouble, and Piglet had to save him if he was afraid or not, because his friend was in trouble so he came out and tryed helping him and scared everyone. Everyone collided. Pooh said Piglet saved them all, they all gathered. Piglet said he went as Pooh's very best and very bravest bestfriend for halloween!

Editorial Review:

Everyone in the Hundred-Acre Wood is excited at the prospect of a night of trick-or-treating. Everyone except poor Piglet, who's terrified by the howling, blowing winds and rattling, chattering doors and windows. Will his "NO GHOSTS ALLOWED" sign keep the ghouls away? Or will he have to confront the strange and scary spookables who come knocking at his door? Ties in with a CBS prime-time special airing in October.
