art: good, story: bad. 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Jim Lee's art is fantastic. The only reason I've cracked this book open again after my first and only read is to look at the art, and the art alone.
Jeph Loeb's storytelling is the same as it's always been. Bits are genuinely cool, good characterization here and there- which keeps you reading. But then the guy starts randomly shoving in cheap twist after twist- until the whole thing is reduced to an unintelligible pile.
He ends with little to no resolution on important plot points.
That sort of thing leaves some people wanting more.
I only wonder why I bought the damn thing.

A great story an excellent art 5 out of 5 stars.

This book presents a new part of Bruce Wayne's life that nobody remembers, the story involve all the greatest villians and friends in Batman universe, but has an open ending that leaves you with more answer and wanting for more.

Nowhere Near as Good as Part I 2 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, this second volume of "Batman: Hush" falls victim to the same problems that usually plague the second halves of graphic novel series. In other words, the storyline is predictable and the action outweighed by tedious amounts of exposition, as though the author is trying to unravel the previous volume's mysteries as fast as possible rather than allowing the story to unfold more naturally. The artwork is still very solid, but I would have greatly preferred to sacrifice some of the mystery of Volume I (which is excellent!) if it would have meant keeping Batman from long expository ponderings while he's supposedly fighting for his life!

Reading this second volume, I was reminded again and again of the second volume of "Superman: For Tomorrow", which suffers almost all the same problems. Overall, I'd say both series are still worth reading, but in both cases, the first half is definitely better!

Not the best one, still lots of fun 3 out of 5 stars.

Need a book to read to a group of kids- the "if you..." is a perfect choice. Not sure what to give a kid 1-6? Ask the parents if they already own it, if not, sure hit! Be sure to laugh with your child, make reading fun, ask them to guess the next step and pat yourself on the back for being a great influence to them.

Cute story 5 out of 5 stars.

My kindergarten class loves this whole series. They ask me to read it over and over!

More whimsical fun from Numeroff/Bond! 5 out of 5 stars.

BOTTOM LINE:

Nothing to over-analyze, really. This series of books is all about a zany day with a child and their pet. It takes them full circle from the first event, and sets off a chain of events that leads -sometimes- to the bizarre!

The whole ride is just pure fun, nothing else. That is what I appreciate about this series. All children's books do not have to be 'Fables by Aesop'. Sometimes its just for the sake of fun.

The illustrations are great!

Editorial Review:

If you take a mouse to school, he'll ask you for your lunch box. When you give him your lunch box, he'll want a sandwich to go in it. Then he'll need a notebook and some pencils. He'll probably want to share your backpack, too . . .

The famous mouse from the New York Times #1 best-seller If You Take a Mouse to the Movies and If You give a Mouse a Cookie is back for his first day of school. Only Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond could make school this much fun!

Not what I was expecting 1 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

If you love the "If you give a mouse a cookie" books - this is not it! It is pretty much a very simple counting book. Not what I was hoping to show my 4 and 5 year olds. It is not very long and the pages are very sturdy, so it would be great for a toddler. My boys were not that impressed with it and neither was I.

Very disappointing 1 out of 5 stars.

We love the "If you give" books and thought this would be a great addition to our library. I was very disappointed when it arrived and I went to read it to my kids. There isn't a story. It's just very few words per page and a very basic counting book. Would not recommend it in the future.

Merry Christmas Mouse! 2 out of 5 stars.

I was not aware that the book was a small board book. I intended to use it for my classroom, but reconsidered because of size and being a board book.

Different from the other If You Give books, but not bad 3 out of 5 stars.

This book is definitely not the same format as the other If You Give books. As another reviewer mentioned, it is primarily a counting books without many words. However, my toddler enjoyed it. We had a good time pointing out and examining the many ornaments on the last page.

TIME FOR SCHOOL MOUSE! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

WHEN I ORDERED THE BOOK I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO READ TO MY NEW FIRST GRADERS. HOWEVER, IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE TYPE MY 15 MONTH GRANDDAUGHTER LIKES, A CHUNKY STYLE BOOK. SO, I GAVE IT TO HER.

Courtesy of Kids @ Teens Read Too 4 out of 5 stars.

Lovable, adorable, not-quite-organized Mouse, from IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, is back in this fun board book that's perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolers.

It's time for school, but Mouse is definitely not ready. He can't find his notebook, his pencils, or his homework. It's time to search, and Mouse sure finds a lot of things - his crayons, his doctor's kit, his cookies.

But it's time to leave, and there's still no homework in sight!

Young children will delight in the further adventures of Mouse, and this would even be a quick, easy story for beginning readers.

Great for enjoyment and for the classroom 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I've read all the Harry Potter books in English, and I've always wanted to read them in Spanish, since I teach Spanish. I am currently teaching lower-level Spanish classes, one of which is the highest level of the lower levels. We are reading "La piedra filosofal" as a class, and, although my students are at different levels, the benefit to reading it is that they all know the story in English, and that helps their comprehension tremendously. Some students are moving slower than others, but they're really enjoying reading something that "real Spanish people" (their words) read. Definitely a good choice for intermediate level Spanish students as an introduction to advanced reading and literature.

Great Way to Brush Up on Spanish 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I studied Spanish and college many (I mean many) years ago and have been trying to relearn the language. I remember the basic grammar but my vocabulary is pretty weak. I decide to read Spanish books geared for young adults and found the entire Harry Potter series (I made it through the first 4 so far) to be truly enjoyable reading.

Of the four I read, this and the second (Chamber of Secrets), were the lightest and the easiest reading. The third (Prisoner of Askaban)and especially the fourth (Goblet of Fire)increased in length and my speed in Spanish is pretty slow, so they took longer to read. The fifth (Order of the Phoenix) and six (Half Blooded Prince) are about 900 pages so I am pretty intimidated to tackle them in Spanish. I will read them in English and move on to some other Spanish books.

After reading these I viewed the DVD's of the films. They have the audio track in Spanish so you can train your ear, too.

The books follow the English versions almost exactly, so you can have a copy of it around to refer to if you find yourself confused about a certain phrase or sentence.

Winter Fun For All 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The cutest dog in books teams up with The-Girl-in-Purple-Sneakers for a lot of snowy Winter fun.

Biscuit and company have a fun day in the snow. There are snowmen to build, snow angels and snow puppies to make. There is even sledding. Then the day ends cuddled in front of a warm fireplace with a mug of hot Cocoa.

Delightful illustrations are what really drive the Biscuit books and this one is no exception. Simple descriptions and the Woof, Woof of Biscuit show some of the fun that can be had in the snowy days of winter. The board book pages are very thick and sturdy.

Biscuit's Snowy Day (Biscuit) 5 out of 5 stars.

Scooby Do The Search for Scooby Snacks

If you like cartoon books you are in the right place. You'll like reading this book.
I like Scooby do because it is very, very funny book.
This story is about Scooby and Shaggy looking for their food that was lost. A bear was eating it. In my opinion this book is very good because you will laugh all through and enjoy the book from beginning to end. This book showed me not to leave my snacks on the floor because someone could come and eat them. This
Book is very funny. YOVANI

I have been collecting Raggedy Ann and Andy for the last 18 years and I have quite a collection of dolls. Last Christmas, my parents bought me a vintage christmas book of theirs and I absolutely fell in love with it. Hence, the reason I am buying this book. It is beautiful illustrated and emphasizes why i feel in love with them in the first place.

Beloved dolls for the ages...

Ninety years ago a story about a rag doll found in a grandmother's attic captured the hearts of Americans. Through many generations Raggedy Ann and Andy and their stories have been shared between parents and children and grandparents and grandchildren. This new collection combines those stories of adventure, friendship, and devotion in one volume that begs to be read aloud!

Great BIG book. 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Wow, this book is REALLY big. It's a big, heavy hardcover. MUCH BIGGER than we expected. The stories and illustrations are just what you'd expect from Curious George, and our son really likes it. It comes with FIVE CDs, and each audio track begins with "Out story begins on the page where George is doing XXX with YYY" so the children can flip to the correct story without grownup help (in theory, that is. In practice it's not so easy, because there's so many pages that it's just too hard to find).

I would have given it FIVE STARS, except for one thing: the only thing I would have done differently is put the stories with and without page-turn signals on separate CDs. Each CD has two versions of each audio track - with and without page turns, but that means there are less stories per CD, and that when you play a CD it plays each story twice.

Editorial Review:

This handsome gift set includes the top-selling The Complete
Adventures of Curious George plus an unabridged audio collection.
Featuring not only all seven original Curious George stories (Curious
George, Curious George Flies a Kite, Curious George Gets a Medal,
Curious George Goes to the Hospital, Curious George Rides a Bike,
Curious George Takes a Job, and Curious George Learns the
Alphabet), the special collector's edition also includes a bonus photo
album of the Reys, an introduction by Leonard Marcus, and an essay
by Dee Jones. The book is packaged with five CDs that include audio
recordings of the stories, available with and without turn signals, for
three and a half hours of entertainment. CDs are packaged in
reusable paper slipcase.
