My 4 1/2 year old son loved this book. The facts were very interesting. He spends a lot of time looking at each picture and remembers the facts as I have read this book to him several times. Each time through it he finds different things to keep him excited. I would say it's his favorite book right now!

If you want to explain the concept of robots to children, this is a good book. If you want to know anything on the subject as a teenager or an adult, there are better books out there showing better robots.

I suppose that's not really a problem as this is clearly listed as a kiddies book, but look elsewhere on Amazon for truly informative books on the subject, as anyone over the age of 10 won't find what they're looking for here.

First of all DK Eyewitness books are wonderful, beautiful pictures and just enough info for the beginner, makes these books my first choice all the time. I bought this book for my son and daughter along with a robot erector set so they could dabble a bit in robotics. My son has been collecting robots since he was young, the old tin wind up sort, he is hoping for Robosapien this Christmas. This book will give him more info on robotics, a science that is really growing.

We bought this for our 6 year old daughter who loves for us to read to her. She is really into biology (her mother is a dental hygienist) and while she obviously doesn't understand all of it, the comprehends more than we had expected that it opens up an opportunity for discussion.

A good reference book for young readers 4 out of 5 stars.

A book about weather everything from the history of meteorology to the formation of hurricanes. There is a lot of information in each page, information about different equipment used to track and measure the weather. Photographs and graphics are used to describe the weather and how to track it. In the back of the book there are pages devoted to making a home weather station to track and record the weather. The book is indexed in the back for easy access to information. It makes the book a good choice to have for easy reference or a young student's weather project. The material is not presented in a boring matter. Some younger students may find too much information to understand at the first reading.

Great pictures and lots of information throughout. This book captures my 1st grader's attention. Will be a good resource for homeschooling. For those concerned, this book acknowledges that archeologists do not agree when human beings "trekked across the Ice Age land bridge from Siberia". It states various theories as to who & when people were in the Americas. Love the organization of the book and so will be wonderful resource in our American studies.

DK Eyewitness books are great and informative. I am teaching ESOL students who are learning English and taking content courses at the same time. They are unfamiliar with American History and Native American history is an even greater enigma to them. This book which supplies graphics and photos, allows students to gather a lot of information visually at a time when they have troubling reading English.

The photographs of OVER 200 CRYSTALS AND GEMS is worth the purchase price of this book. And I am not just talking about ANY picture of each crystal, I am talking about a GORGEOUS, AMAZING sample picture of each crystal! This book really brought World War I to life. I was surprised at how little I really knew about this war. This may be billed as a kid's book, but people of all ages will enjoy it. It's a great source for learning a lot about the war in a short period of time. The entire Eyewitness series is worth checking out.
