If you are on a statin drug or are thinking of going on a statin, this fully referenced book, Statin Drug Side Effects, is a "must read" for you. The unacceptable legacy of statin drug use at today's high doses is a trail of chronic aches and pains, numbness, weakness, confusion, fatigue, shortness of breath and even heart failure in hordes of unsuspecting victims. Only by knowing this information, and in consultation with your healthcare professional, can you make an informed decision about your health care. If you are a user of Vytorin, Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor, Mevacor, Pravachol or Lescol you must read this book. Most of the statin side effects I discuss are unknown to your busy doctor. I purchased this book not knowing much more than about the title. Book arrived in timely manner. Content of book was wonderful and informative. Combined with two other books I purchased of similar material, this book helped me understand the truth regarding statins in a way I certainly had not before.

Statins are toxic and unsafe at "effective" doses. Once the truth comes out, the pharmaceutical industry will collapse and will likely take us M.D.'s down with them. Can't say we don't have it coming, though.

In practical terms, it is difficult to get the word out. The propaganda on statins is pervasive, and any time you tell a patient the truth, they look at you like you just told them the earth was flat. The other docs in the community may start thinking you're a crackpot as well, and perhaps stop referring patients your way.

Cholesterol is a great moneymaker for primary docs. Periodically, patients come in to get checked, get a prescription for Lipitor, and from then on every 3-6 months will require LFT's to check liver and recheck cholesterol. Between then, the patients will come in to be evaluated for side effects (GERD, memory loss, myalgia, etc). Anyway, good book.

This book is an excellent resource for those suffering from heart failure or families trying to understand this disease. I highly recommend it for a resource if not reading it in its entirity. Chapter 11 on foods and salt intake is especially helpful if one has the determination to follow good advice! this health guide is the best collective work that has been gathered by the eminent cardiologist who knows all the heart diseases conditions.furthermore he is treating with both alternative and conventional ways so he can tell the diffrents,wich he did. after the history of the coenzyme q10 he explaines how the role of the free radical molecules are forming in our body,and the role of diseases they produced,in this case heart problems. how the mechanism of heart diseases are formed (in short understandable way)and how coq10 is working in order to prevent\treat\and most of all the fast improving of this miracle new heart nutrient.how it work inside the cells of the body is explained so you will understand why it worked in every heart disease. how this nutrient works in gum diseases and in hypertension wich also related to heart attacks are also covered in this book. he also gives dosages of recommandations to every discussed ilnness on the guide,and a few amazing case histories are beyond description,but i know they are a true case histories because i am a orthomolecular-nutritionist and i treat heart diseases, and i know the author is correct. very recommanded!

For those interested in FACTS and TRUTH about heart health/disease and Unnecessary (and dangerous!) bypass surgery (this is written by an M.D.!). Because heart disease is the #1 killer in the United States, this book (this fantastic and wonderful, easy to understand and exceptionally written book)should be a MUST READ for every single person. The persons who's life you might save is your own, not to mention your loved one.

I don't jump on every alternative medicine bandwagon, but I do regard our American "health care" system with a bit of a jaundiced eye. To me, a for-profit system has built-in conflicts of interest. Drs. Walker and Shah make a cogent and powerful case that this may be so regarding chelation therapy. And indeed, after reading the book I called a local MD who is a chelation therapist, and learned that 1) the therapy wasn't covered under my (quite comprehensive) healthcare plan, and yet 2) there was a 5-week waiting period to get in to see him. In other words, many many people are apparently choosing this form of therapy even though they must pay for it themselves. This, taken together with the fact that chelation is used extensively in virtually every Western country other than the US, with 2,000 studies supporting its use, makes a pretty strong argument that it quite possibly IS a very effective alternative remedy that is being blocked by our healthcare system. One can only speculate as to why.

Wow........I got this book for my almost 10 year old son. He has TOF/DORV, had tons of complications, ending up in PICU for a year and emerging with lots of "accessories" including a trach, ventilator, oxygen, gtube, pacemaker and nurse 24/7. He has been without those lovely things (except the pacer) for many years now, but is starting to come to the realization that his life is different than many of his friends. Not tons different, but different. He has loved Camp Del Corazon, and we got this for him to continue to help him see that there are lots of kids who have had similar experiences.

So last night I grabbed it at 11:30pm and started flipping through it.....I was engrossed. I didn't put it down until 1:30am and I was in tears and very prayerful. Sometimes even with all that we have been through, and all the support he needs, I get caught up in the laundry, bills, shuttling kids to ballet/golf/physical therapy, and don't really remember how complicated and beautiful and terrifying his life is. How varied and amazing these kids are, yet they are tied together with such similar life experiences. This book, in it's beautiful (though solemn) photographs and words of the children and their parents, put on paper what we have known for years. That despite these struggles, these differences, this identity as the "heart kid", that these kids can find their own way in life and are richer and more compassionate for it.

Max Gerber did an amazing job with this book, and gave all of our kids a wonderful gift. It lets them meet other children and see the range of experiences in families dealing with various CHDs. This is a MUST BUY for you and your child. I am buying it as gifts for our Ped Cardiologist, and other families I know who are dealing with this as well. Bravo.
