Best guide to planning allergy/rotation diets I have found! 4 out of 5 stars.
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

After discovering my son was allergic to a third of his normal diet I was faced with a dilemma - How to feed a nutritional diet without overloading the child with the foods he could still eat. Although most allergy books suggest rotating foods and food families this is the only book I found with easy to follow charts (which you can copy and put to use immediately) and step by step guides to adapting a rotation diet for the whole family. Great insprirational success stories also!

Food Makes the Difference: Life Changing Book 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This book was a life changer for me. My son has ADD and life was always like rolling a large boulder uphill-exhausting mentally, physically, spiritually. I had two other children who needed me too. This book offered me hope that food could make a difference in the behavior and success of my child. The stories in the book are from real life and show the body's ability to heal a large number of conditions and allergic/sensitive responses if given the proper nutrients. Dr Lendon Smith in the forward says "this is the book I wish I had written". I never owned my own copy, but checked it out from the library again and again. Referred people looking for various kinds of help for their children to this book repeatedly. I know people whose children's lives have probably been saved by the wisdom from this book. It is from one of these that I learned of the availability of this book from Amazon.com. This is one of just 3 or 4 books that have affected me like this in my life. This is a great book if you have children with physical/behavioral problems that the medical community seems to have no answers for except dangerous medications.

It was very refreshing being hable to find this book in spanish, especially at such reasonable price. I was looking for a book that will explain me of simple ways to help children affected by ADD. These natural methods are of great help if you are looking for a drug free approach, such as diet change. I Also believe that this book could have been improved by offering advice to caregivers in how modify children behavior. In conclusion this book is a good buy at a great price!

Specific help to evaluate food allergy's role in arthritis 4 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

Dr. Mansfield, a British allergy specialist, guides the reader to carefully and scientifically test for food allergies and their effect upon rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. He explains clearly each step to be taken and how to evaluate food allergy reactions. With this book, I have been able to understand how food allergies were causing serious arthritis symptoms and then take action to reduce pain and other symptoms.

Methods that work 5 out of 5 stars.

I have attended Dr Mansfield's clinic in England and know that his methods for treating rheumatoid arthritis are effective. I no longer need anti-inflammatory drugs and as long as I avoid things to which I am allergic, I have little or no arthritis. He is a well respected doctor and I thoroughly recommend this book. I had bought the previous edition and it helped me regain a normal life. This newer book is even more comprehensive and can help many people. I recommend it to everyone I meet who has R.A.

Editorial Review:

Statistics show that up to 40 percent of children in the United States suffer from allergies and at least 10 percent suffer from asthma. That translates into almost five million American children affected by both allergies and asthma. And as Dr. Allen J. Dozor, head of one of the largest pediatric pulmonary practices in the United States, has seen among his patients, some of the most upsetting effects of allergies and asthma are the psychological wounds inflicted on a child's self-image. There is the constant protectiveness from caregivers, confusing limits and rules, headaches, obesity, shortness of breath, and sleep deprivation. In some cases these side effects, such as stress and obesity, cycle back to make the original condition worse.

Dr. Dozor's plan, developed over the last twenty years, is designed to empower both parents and children. His warmhearted but reality-based approach includes

  • How to give the right amount of medication for best effects and no side effects
  • Empowering your children to manage their own condition so that they can feel safe and secure
  • Prevention and management in school
  • Handling emergencies

And much more!

Editorial Review:

This is an essential teen's guide to living with allergies.Allergies are fairly common, affecting more than 60 million Americans, or about 1 in 5 people. When people experience an allergic reaction to something, the immune system thinks the substance - for instance, food, dust, pollen, or medicines - is harmful to the body. In response, it sends off a false alarm in the form of an allergic reaction, which may occur in the eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, or intestinal tract. Milder reactions come in the form of slightly itchy eyes, a runny nose, itchy throat, or other uncomfortable symptoms. Severe allergic reactions, on the other hand, can be life threatening. Although there is no medication that can cure allergies, there are many effective treatments available to control many of them. This accessible new guide provides all the information teens need to understand allergies and their consequences on daily life. Loaded with helpful sidebars, appendixes, and real-life cases, this straightforward resource is sure to be very useful for teens coping with allergies.
