Wonderful book 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

This book focuses on being thankful for all things in life--from the smallest of things (the green grass, noses, giggles and many more) to the more important things in life (Mommy and Daddy and families). Prayers are very short and rhyme. Prayers about behaviors are included in this book such as a couple about being sorry for acting bad and learning to share. The book is small--perfect for tiny hands. This has been one of my very favorite books. I will buy this book for all new moms in the future. I definitely recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I'm very please with how fast the books were sent to me. I brought it two weeks ahead of the baby shower I was going to so I figure it might take a while for me to get it so it was great that I got it just in a few days like I was promise.

I love the rhythm of the rhymes 5 out of 5 stars.

I read these prayers to my infant over and over again. I would randomly choose different ones and seemed to always find something new. Now, my 18 month old will sit and flip the pages for 20-30 minutes at a time. Now, she loves all books so this is not unique to this book but I really love this book!

Editorial Review:

A beautiful first book of prayers for your baby. Great as a gift or just to buy as a first book for your child.

Fun Devotions For Boys Age 2-5 Gotta Have God 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I think this book is great. My 3 year old wants to hear the story and do the activities every day. He even likes to repeat the ones we have already done. I plan to get one for my little girl.

simple, yet strong 5 out of 5 stars.

I have two boys. One who is almost four, the other is two and a half. They both enjoy this book, though it seems more suitable for my oldest. Each "lesson" is two pages. One page has a story and questions to discuss. The other page is a quick activity that relates...and can be photo copied for each kid. It's a good way to get your kids thinking about who God is and why that matters to them. Also the questions for discussion could probably meet one or two curriculum standards for homeschooling if that interests you.

Editorial Review:

Well loved by young and old, and now available in paperback format!

A book that will inform and inspire the whole family, this beautifully presented yet practical book is the ideal accompaniment to Operation World. Stunning photographic visuals complement this AZ of countries and people groups providing an exciting learning experience and guide for prayer.

Short stories about featured countries or people groups help relate foreign lands and people to children in the West. Each page includes a small map putting the country into perspective with neighboring countries, a fact box with essential country, and people information and prayer points that children can ask God for as well as thank God for.

This invaluable resource develops cultural, political, and geographical awareness through a Christian lens. Families, churches, and schools will all benefit from this book and in turn be able to pray more effectively for their world.

Yikes! 1 out of 5 stars.
9 of 14 people found this review helpful.

We're here trying to find a replacement for this text because the daily messages frequently ask the reader to accept Jesus as their Savior. It just doesn't make sense. I thought this book was supposed to be for practicing Christians, not for trying to convert your kids. Not everyone is of the Born Again variety and really, what could kids at this age be doing that they need to confess their sins, repent and accept Jesus every week?

Good resource 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I read this book in the morning with my 10 and 13 year old children. Even though the subject of salvation does come up frequently, we just enjoy that day and know our salvation is already secure and we don't need to be resaved. However, it usually touches on situations that are relevant to issues my children will face such as the way to treat other people, integrity, love for God and others, appreciating blessings, etc. I am disturbed by the review below that mentions an October 1 entry and non-associated verses from Matthew. I looked up the days which use Matthew 11:28-30 and looked at each story -- none of them deal with that subject. The October 1 entry deals with the opportunity to cheat on a test and the decision to take the grade earned rather than cheat to make a good grade. The other days were about Jesus being with us when we have a heavy load, and parents setting boundaries to protect their children from tempting situations. I have enjoyed the book as it is hard to find something that will "speak" to both my grade school son and my middle school daughter. I would recommend it. Of course, nothing beats the Bible. This is just a path to get there.

Editorial Review:

For ten years kids have had fun learning about Scripture with The One Year Book of Devotions for Kids series. Now The One Year Book of Devotions for Kids, volume 3, is available with a great new look for a new generation of readers. Each day's lesson focuses on a key theme from a Bible story. A contemporary story, application questions, a memory verse, and an action phrase combine to reinforce the theme for each day. A great way to help kids connect with God!

Best Childrens Devotional Book Ever!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I love this devotional book, especially for smaller children in the early elementary years like my own. I grew up with this book myself, and it taught me many great life lessons from the Bible, which I carry with me to this day. I'm so glad I can pass this legacy on to my own four children!!! It starts out with a Bible verse, then a practical story, questions about the story, and a prayer at the end. If you have older children, they can look up additional Bible verses. This has been great for my 7 year old, who just started looking up verses in his new Bible. It's a special family time that we cherish and look forward to each and every day. I really recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a nice family devotional.

THE best book for children 5 out of 5 stars.

For generations this classic has nurtured children's faith and sown seeds that enrich lives for years to come. Updated to reflect today's varied family situations, these devotions help children not only learn about God, but also to love and trust in Him.

Can we do the white book? 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Every night my girls (4 and 6) look forward to "doing the white book". God and Me is great for teaching lessons of character to young children. I then let my girls color the corresponding activity page together. It is wonderful seeing them learn to cooperate with each other as they decide who will color what. I highly recommend this book. I plan on getting the rest in the series as they get older, then purchasing another copy of this one when my two younger daughters turn 2 and 4. It is well worth the money. You can then give the book to a grandparent as a keepsake, when your daughter is done coloring it all.

Great Spiritual Tool for Teens 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I recieved this book from a lady in my church when I was about 15 years old (I'm now 27). I have to say that this book was my source of help and guidance when there were no one else to talk to. It is direct,to the point and single out some of the major concerns and areas needed to be talked about in a teens life. I now use the book to help the youths I minister to by purchasing them in quantities of 4-10 at a time and giving them out as gifts. I recomend it for any teen, or young adult.

Not appropriate for very young children 3 out of 5 stars.
24 of 45 people found this review helpful.

Although this is a lovely book, with many lovely thoughts and lessons, there are some paintings that young children will find disturbing. Even my thirteen-year-old daughter was shocked by the painting of the murder of a Pope. There is also some semi-nudity (from the rear) which readers should be aware of. Although this book encourages children to love God, I feel Sister Wendy could have chosen paintings more appropriate for children.

Great Choices of Paintings by Sister Wendy Beckett 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

5/2/04 This book was a "great find"(on the shelf of children's books at a 'St Vincent de Paul Society' thrift store...The knowledge that the pictures are not your 'traditional'masterpiece paintings make the 'visual tour' of it one which makes you keep returning to find where did those 'cameo' pictures come from that Sister Wendy Beckett has placed throughout the book (e.g. The jacket is Domenico Ghirlandaio's "Portrait of an Old Man and a Young Boy"(which is on Page 10 and is also listed on the 'picture list'/page 32 as being at the Musee du Louvre,Paris . The book is not too extreme for today's child (1.their cartoons 2.their 'rap artists' & 3.their extreme sports , make this book which would have been controversial in the 1980's ,just contemporary in its year 1995 publication ,first by Great Britain's Dorling Kindersley Limited ,followed by a "First American Edition" by New York,USA's DK Publishing Inc....,with colors enhanced by Verona,Italy's G.R.B. Graphica.

Editorial Review:

"...introduces children to art as a means of discovering faith... this is a remarkable book, not only for its innate spirituality and wisdom, but also for its harmonious partnership of great art and astute interpretation". -- Booklist

One of the coolest books I've ever read 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

OK, so say you have a 10 year old, who thinks she is 14, and you have friends who have a 14 year old who thinks any book on 'faith and morals' must be boring. Oh you could so change their mind with this book. My 10 year old begs me to read chapters to her in the car with her friends there - WHY? Because Justin Lookadoo is funny and hip/cool/happening/whatever your teenager says. I bought this book because I had met Justin Lookadoo at a booksellers convention, he's hard to miss. 6' 7" tall- not wide - and greatly weird looking. I thought anyone who looks like that and loves God...gets my attention. Then I saw his pic on the cover of this book in our Church Bookstore, and flipping through the book I saw how cool it looked not at all like a 'traditional' devotional book. And I was sold. I read three chapters to my family in the car on the way home. Read two more chapters to my friend the next day who is going to buy this book for her high school Bible Study. I predict this book will sell millions, and I plan on buying a great number for myself and friends. It's just the coolest book I've ever read for a devotional for teenagers, or those who wish they were teenagers, or those who rememer the teenage years! BUY IT NOW. You won't regret it. And you know "live with no regrets."

Editorial Review:

Skydiving. Ducks. Unexpected love. Falling down stairs. Doorknobs. Compassion. Duct tape.

What do all these random things have in common? Nothing--duh, that's what makes them random. But they all do come from the random and yet somehow oh-so-thought-provoking mind of Justin Lookadoo. And they somehow add up to a mind-altering and life-rearranging picture of what faith has to do with it all.

Whether you read these chapters one a day, one a week, or completely out of order, 97: Random Thoughts about Life, Love & Relationships is all about you stepping up. It's all about you digging deeper, growing bigger, and living with no regrets. Dive in. I dare you.
