Magnificent Horses 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Page after page of beautifully drawn horses in various poses, many of them are action poses.

A few of the pictures feature riders but most are just of the horses--which was my preference.

The drawings are large and easy to color, and there is also lots of background with mountains, trees, rocks and even rivers/streams.

I am an adult colorer, but I think anyone from about the age of six would enjoy coloring in this book.

I highly recommend it.

If you like horses You'll love this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a very good coloring book. John Green is an excellent artist and with a little colored pencil or crayons the pictures come alive. I bought this book for myself, and I love it.

Editorial Review:

Thirty handsome illustrations capture the legendary grace and beauty of the horse. Depictions of mounted riders; horses racing across fields; mares with their colts; horses walking, galloping, trotting; a stallion rearing up on its hind legs; and more. Captions supplement an impressive panorama of the world's best-loved and most highly prized animals.

Two Hooves Up! 5 out of 5 stars.
18 of 18 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed reading this book with all of the true stories like a girl who babysits minature horses, a girl who show jumps, a rodeo rider and much more storyies. But if you If you want to learn about how to take care of horses thhis is not the right book. I love the information in the back of the book and the trading cards though. It tells you a typical day at a horse farm and tells you about some grooming tools and the parts of tack. Over all I think this book rocks. and should get two hooves up!

Great for young horse riders 5 out of 5 stars.

My 9 year old daughter (and I,her mother) really enjoyed this book. Although intended for young girls, I also learned from it. The book does a great job of explaining different kinds of riding and of some of the work involved in taking care of horses. I would highly recommend it for someone interested in taking riding lessons.

Great for horse lovers everywhere! 5 out of 5 stars.

I think that if you love horses than this is for sure the perfect book for you!! I also loved all the full colored pictures. I would recommend this book fo everybody! -kristen

Editorial Review:

You can count on horse-crazy kids to be doing something horse-related, thinking about something horse-related, or planning something horse-related 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That's why Cindy A. Littlefield created the Kids' Book of Horse Games & Puzzles. If kids are going to spend their time horsing around, they might as well jump-start their creativity and boost their problem-solving skills at the same time.

The book is divided into five sections: Word Play, Picture Puzzles, Drawing, Fun and Games, and Brain Teasers. (All the answers are included.)

Take the "Horse and Pony Stall of Fame" challenge by matching up famous equines with their human or television character companions. Snuffle through the "Hungry as a Horse" quiz and see if you can find the names of 14 things horses like to eat hidden in a block of letters. Then break out your best drawing pencils and learn how to draw a horse's portrait in six easy steps.

Fun, horsey cartoons and illustrations adorn every page. And scattered throughout the book are horse riddles, bits of horse trivia, and quotes about horses.

Here, at last, is the perfect book for kids who love puzzles almost as much as they love horses.

This book brings many creative ways for any age to draw a variety of horses. I ordered it for my daughter's birthday, because she was going for a horseback ride and it would help keep the memories fresh for her. She enjoys drawing on a more professional level; thanks to this book.

Excellent book for the person who likes to draw horses. 5 out of 5 stars.

Great illustrations in this book. It will make it fun for you to learn to draw horses.

Great for those interested in drawing 5 out of 5 stars.

At first I just borrowed this book but I found that it was so helpful that we needed to own it! It's got good views of horses in a variety of poses. Our children were able to use the step by step method with barely any help at all. Ages 5 and 7, they have been drawing since about 2 years old or so, and may be slightly more advanced in drawing skills than average. They also like horses a lot, but have sort of run dry on ideas for new ways to draw them. Now, instead of asking Daddy to draw horses running or rearing or jumping, they have a whole variety of examples to learn from in one book. Very nice.

Editorial Review:

Arabians, Pintos, Morgans and Clydesdales: jumping, bucking, rearing, grazing and kicking -- all are in this collection of 50 drawings.

Editorial Review:

For young horse lovers who can't get enough pictures of horses and ponies, we've created The Horse Breeds Poster Book, a gorgeous gallery of 30 pull-out horse posters, enough posters to wallpaper a kid's room. Young riders love pictures of adorable foals, big draft horses, sleek race horses, and tiny ponies and that's what this book delivers. For this special collection, international horse photographer Bob Langrish has chosen his most kid-appealing images. On the back of each poster is a panel that describes the particular breed shown: where it comes from, what it's good at, how it likes to be handled, and a lot more. Fun facts will turn readers into experts. They'll learn, for instance, that little Shetland ponies are, pound for pound, the strongest horses of all. And that Belgian draft horses once carried knights into battle. And that Quarter Horses can outrace Thoroughbreds over short distances. We're confident this book will be a hit with kids. Why? Because we called in young horse lovers to serve as consultants on this project. While the official target age for this book is 8 to12, the subject and the beauty of the photographs will draw in younger and older horse lovers as well. A glossary defines horsey terms in language kids can understand, making The Horse Breeds Poster Book informative as well as beautiful

This is the perfect gift for any kid that loves horses. The re-useable stickers help them to identify different breeds. My kids take it in the car, when they see a horse they find the correct sticker and put it in the proper place in the book. There they can read all about that particular horse. Full color pictures and easy to read text make this book enjoyable and educational. Afterall, you can only spell the alphabet using highway signs so many times before it's old... I highly recommend "The Ultimate Horse Sticker Book!

The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a wonderful book for a person who loves horses and likes to see different pictures of horses and ponies. My niece loved it so much she actually sleep with it the firsr night.

Wonderful book! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I found this book very readable with lots of beautiful pictures. It has sections on horse breeds(horses&ponies), horse's coloring/markings, grooming, traveling, trimming, stable management, feeding, health & caring for a sick horse, tack, it even has a section on riding(mostly eastern)and driving! This book only gives basic information with a reasonable amount of detail, I would reccommend this book for any horse lover of any age. If you plan on owning a horse someday and want a book on training your horse, this isn't the best choice. If you want to know what goes into caring for a horse I would reccomend this book. Again, it has wonderful pictures and is easy to read, I love it and have confidence you will too.

Editorial Review:

The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia is a fantastic gift for children who dream of having a horse or pony of their own. There is a clear introduction to the horse followed by chapters explaining horse and pony care, riding lessons, and breeds. The encyclopedia is packed full of gorgeous photographs of horses and ponies -- showing how they look, what they do, and where in the world they are found. And of course every horse lover wants to ride, and The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia takes the novice rider from first mount to cantering and galloping.

Horses Sticker Stories 1 out of 5 stars.

We were very disappointed with this book. If it didn't cost as much to send it back as the book itself we would've returned it. The pictures are bland and the text dull. There was no appeal in it for the kids.

Editorial Review:

This colorful sticker book lets kids gallop off into the wide world of horses. Interactive scenes and removable stickers include horses racing across the range, pulling wagons in a town of the old west, performing in a circus, carrying children as they learn to ride, and being groomed.

With 75 full-color, reusable stickers and big, inviting full-color spreads to decorate in each and every book, Sticker Stories give young children the tools and freedom to create their own stories time and again.

Your young one will thoroughly enjoy this horse coloring which is a great deal more. It supplies in detail basic info about what they are showing on each page. Tips, techniques, & informative knowledge of & about horses. It even has a anatomy diagram pic of the horse on four pages as it breaks it down to a skeleton & names each part of the horse. I was only expecting a coloring book, but recieved a basic education on horses to boot. I enjoy being able to answer my curious little girls questions.
I would buy again.

160 pages would be way too much to color, not a huge FAN OF THIS ONE! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I found out now that this coloring book "Big Book of Horses to Color" by John Green is a compilation of four books--FAVORITE HORSES, HORSES OF THE WORLD, WONDERFUL WORLD OF HORSES, and PONIES OF THE WORLD. Each detailed, line drawing includes a caption that tells some historical background or pertinent information about that particular breed, and notes and/or glossaries of terms introduce each "book." It is yet another gem for the other equine lovers or budding colorist, but not for me.

I wouldn't be to much a fan of this Big Book of Horses to Color because it's 160 pages and it would be too much to color because you can tell for "HORSES OF THE WORLD" about what John Green had known becuase the horses all look alike...from the fiery arabian to the Anglo Arab to the quarter horse and that there is no dished head on the arab, the quarter horse looks like a pony, no BIG rear end...the drafters, and the other European horses probably and maybe looked ok. You could tell this author was definately NOT up on our western breeds in HORSES OF THE WORLD! My only two horse ones from BIG BOOK OF HORSES TO COLOR by John Green is only Wonderful World of Horses and Favorite Horses and those will be my only two favorites from now on and never Horses of the World and Ponies of the World because it's awful that a Quarter horse looks like a pony with no big rear end and no dished head on the Arabian and I think the price is very low on this book as well, too. Ponies, I like to see only at shows but, "Favorite Horses Coloring book", "Wonderful World of Horses Coloring book", and "Horses of the Old West Coloring book" are only my three top favorites by John Green and they're better anyway because what you like about is for "Favorite Horses coloring book is that colorists with a fondness for these high-spirited animals will be delighted with John Green''s accurate renderings of 30 different equine breeds, among them showhorses such as the Andalusian and Missouri fox trotter, sleek thoroughbreds, pintos, Arabian, and sturdy workhorses. Captions. For "Wonderful World of Horses Coloring Book", Thirty handsome illustrations capture the legendary grace and beauty of the horse. Depictions of mounted riders; horses racing across fields; mares with their colts; horses walking, galloping, trotting; a stallion rearing up on its hind legs; and more. Captions supplement an impressive panorama of the world''s best-loved and most highly prized animals. For "Horses of the Old West Coloring Book", Saddle up for a fun and fascinating ride back to America''s old West, where horses played a vital role in the culture and development of the country''s new frontiers. Add your own colors to 30 exciting scenes straight from the pages of history: the Pony Express, the U.S. Cavalry, wagon trains, and more. Those are the only three horse coloring books by John Green I'll only like are Favorite Horses coloring book, Wonderful World of Horses Coloring Book and Horses of the Old West coloring book because those perfect best three would be a lot of fun anyway and that's a fair better choice of three.

I never want "Horses of the World" in "Big Book of Horses To Color" by John Green because it's awful that a Quarter horse looks like a pony with no big rear end and no dished head on the Arabian and I think the price is very low on this book as well, too.

The Quarter Horse doesn't even look like a pony in "Favorite Horses Coloring Book" and it's much better in "Favorite Horses Coloring Book" and that's a better price, too.

The only books of The Big Book of Horses I like are: "Horses (All Aboard Books)" by Laura Driscoll, "Storybook Treasury of Animals (Storybook Treasuries)" and "The Big Book of Horses" edited by J. C. Suares and that's the best ones I'm a fan of in "The Big Book of Horses" and of course the only horse coloring books by John Green are only "Favorite Horses Coloring Book", "Wonderful World of Horses Coloring Book" and "Horses of the Old West Coloring book" and that's the best fair choice to have of Horses coloring books and of course the Big Book of Horses.

Well, can't wait to buy "Wonderful World of Horses Coloring book" and "Horses of the Old West coloring book" and those will be also fun to color in.

That's an excellent fair choice for a good cowboy:)

Editorial Review:

More than 130 enchanting illustrations recapture the spirited beauty of horses and ponies. Colorists and horse lovers of all ages will treasure these realistic depictions of draft animals as well as sporting creatures — thoroughbreds, mavericks, show horses, polo ponies, and many other magnificent steeds. Informative captions offer accurate background.
