"Absolute Purity Achieved..."

Those are some SPOOKY WORDS!!!

What Nora Roberts achieves in this book is Absolute SUSPENSE! I defy anyone to read this book and not be thrilled. It grabs hold of you and will not let go! I absolutely do not know what to say. I'm already two books past this one, and neither of them have risen to the mark that this one hits. The action is gripping. You will laugh, you WILL cringe.

Not the most frightning book I've ever read, but I did momentarily contemplate unplugging my computer.

Purity in Death (In Death)
You can't go wrong with J.D. Robb. She writes a great futuristic detective fiction. I am going to read them all again; and there is a big list.

Great, Fabulous... Wonderful.... not perfect, but still spectacular! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

First my knocks on this book. Why not bring in more killings from "the past" such as the Manson murders or John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, etc? It just seems you have so many murders and psychopaths to choose from, there was not really a need to "invent" one. Although, in fairness it speaks to JD ROBB/Nora Roberts' imagination when she was able to conjure such a believable villain.

The opening chapter was absolutely brutal and violent but it was not grotesque. It was very smartly done. It grabs your attention and you are hooked. You either are determined to finish this book after chapter one or you will put it down and probably never pick it back up, but rabid fans know that Nora always delivers powerful blows like this.

Typical to the "JD ROBB" style, Roberts pulls no punches, but attacks the violence with a malevolent class and style that only she can muster. Truly, this is one of the better stories of the series. I was impressed with Portrait... I was absolutely AMAZED by Purity... this one... I don't know. I'm at a loss for words. I can't wait to see what "DETECTIVE" Peabody will do in future books.

I love the way we are really IN These characters lives. They eat, they drink, they party. They have sex, they bleed, they cry, they laugh, they plan for their future, they love and they lose. They live and (at times) they die. This story is true to reality. The characters FEEL real and by now they are a part of a reader's pseudo-family. A dysfunctional and outrageous family, but a family nonetheless.

Reading each book is like a trip home... a family reunion. And I can't wait for the next trip.

I just love anything that Nora Roberts writes. I enjoy her books on family dynamics and brotherly and sisterly love!!!

Editorial Review:

Waiting for Nick

Frederica Kimball had been waiting all her life…waiting to grow up…waiting forever for the day when Nicholas LeBeck would fall as desperately in love with her as she had always been with him.

Nick didn't know what had hit him. Sweet, adorable Freddie, whom he'd always loved like a kid sister, was suddenly all woman. And his feelings for her were anything but brotherly!

Considering Kate

Kate Stanislaski Kimball had turned her back on glamour and fame, and she'd come home to begin a new life. The only thing more perfect than the beautiful—dilapidated—building she'd bought for her new dance school was Brody O'Connell, the frustrating and surprisingly fascinating contractor she'd hired for the renovation.

But Brody was determined to resist Kate's effortless allure. She was Natasha Stanislaski's pampered, perfect daughter, after all. Still, every fiber of his being longed to make her his.…

Irish Trilogy - Book 3

The conclusion brings Darcy to the forefront. She is restless working and singing the family pub. She longs for an exciting better life and wants the finer things for herself. Darcy comes off as shallow and materialistic.

Trevor Magee is a businessman searching for his Irish roots while building the new theater, and too much of the story was spent on the construction. He is an arrogant flashy, and doesn't mind flaunting it.

These two have to be together for the story to conclude, and for the spirits to be at rest.

Disappointing End to Trilogy 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

While I enjoyed the first two books in this series, I had to force myself to finish "Heart of the Sea." I cannot truly enjoy one of these escapist books if I dislike the heroine, and Darcy, while okay in small doses, is not likeable enough to carry the entire book. Trevor was bland and boring. I don't expect realism in romance novels, but Nora Roberts usually provides an entertaining read. I can't say as much for this book, unfortunately.

Irish Trilogy - Book 1

This was not a good read for me. I guess I am one that definitely likes her more recent work because I couldn't force myself to get involved with this one. This was not very exciting, and the story was lacking depth.

Jude Murray runs from her life in America with a broken heard in tow, and heads to Ireland to study old tales and legends. She stays at her grandmothers' cottage, and likes it so much that she longs to become part of the community.

Aidan Gallagher runs the local pub with his family, but is not prepared for the impact meeting Jude will have on his life. Through magic and deep sorrow of a ghost, Jude and Aidan discover their new path in life together.

Great Little Book 5 out of 5 stars.

I think this might be my favorite Nora Roberts book. Oddly enough, I had read "Tears of the Moon" before I read this (I bought it in an airport not knowing it was part of a trilogy) and knowing the outcome did not detract from my enjoyment of this book at all. Jude and Aiden are sweet apart and together, and NR fully fleshes them out, and shows their growth as the story goes on.

Editorial Review:

Return to the lush green hills of Ireland, where love is touched by magic--and where the Gallagher siblings explore the depths of their fiery hearts.

What? 2 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I got this book against my better judgement because I was desperate for something to read and Nora Roberts is a pretty good writer. This book is made up of 2 short stories. The first one wasn't half bad for being so short. The heroine was very lovable and I liked her immediately. She was charming and loved the hero right away and wasn't afraid to love him. I grow bored with books where the heroine has some chip on her shoulder and acts like a total snot the whole time and I wonder how the hero would fall in love with her. The second book was horrid! It was all written from the heroines perspective and so you never got to know the hero or what he was thinking. He talked terrible to the heroine and I found nothing to like about him. There were no love scenes either. :(
Ater I read this book I found out they were written in 1982 and 1984. I guess that explains a lot. I don't think I would have bought it if I knew that they were just recycled books. I feel that's a little misleading. You can really tell these were some of her first books.
Don't buy this book or even borrow it...it will be a waste of your time.
The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is the first story.

Daniel & Ian - Unforgettable Characters 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

First of all, I have to say, I have fallen in love with this family. I have read almost everything Nora Roberts has written and become totally attached to the families in the assorted series of her books; however, the MacGregors are special. Nora takes us back to the Battle of Culloden in 1745 in her book Rebellion and then goes back and forth in subsequent books with the ancestors of Serena and Brig. In "Daniel," we are taken through the courtship of Anna Whitefield and Daniel MacGregor - the icon of this great family. Anna has worked her entire life to become a surgeon with absolutely no support from her family. Her parents felt her job in life was to become a mother and a wife. At a dance, she meets Daniel, big, strong redheaded Scotsman, and very much the male chauvinist. Daniel immediately falls for Anna, but Anna does not appreciate his condescending thoughts on a career that she has given her life to achieving. Anna has one more year of med school before her internship and Daniel thinks she should give it all up and marry him. Nora weaves the story so well that I was cheering Anna the entire time for her strength and commitment to her profession and her hard work.
In the story "Ian," Nora takes us back once more to the 18th century and the nephew of Serena MacGregor from the "Rebellion." I so much enjoyed that book that it was a big treat to get back to Serena, 30 years later. This is the story of Ian MacGregor (Coll's son) and Alanna Murphy Flynn. After finding Ian wounded and bleeding in her barn, Alanna nurses him back to health. Ian again is immediately taken by this dark-haired beauty, but Alanna has lost too much to war in her life (her older brother and her mother who died of a broken heart from the loss of her son). She would not marry a warrior and lose again. Great reading and a loving, spirited family is what the MacGregors are all about. Unquestionably, do not miss their stories!

Editorial Review:

For Now, Forever

Anna—Daniel's wife of forty years—relives her remarkable courtship, when meddlesome matchmaking patriarch and self-made millionaire Daniel MacGregor faced his biggest challenge: to convince the love of his life to marry him! Here at last is the story of how Daniel wooed and won the fiercely independent Anna Whitfield and launched his formidable dynasty.

In From the Cold

In this story about an eighteenth-century MacGregor, we learn that battling the British couldn't prepare Minuteman Ian MacGregor for the fight he's got on his hands to win the heart of Irish spitfire Allanna Flynn.

It's hard to resist the Stanislaskis! 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is a larger-sized release of a couple of novels from 1990 & 1991, which I was happy to get, because my old mass market versions were yellowed with age. I've read all the Stanislaski novels several times, and always enjoyed them. This volume has the first two books in the series. If you go for family-oriented romances with some sensuality, a touch of humor, and the occasional tear, you will absolutely love these books. "Taming Natasha" introduces the former ballet dancer, who now runs a very popular toy store in a small town. One of her little customers, Frederica, is looking for a mother and a baby sister; Freddie's dad, Spence, wants what is best for Freddie. Luckily, it appears that Freddie and Spence will find all their answers in Natasha. "Luring a Lady" brings us back to NYC, where most of the clan resides. Mikhail is living in a run-down building, and doesn't hesitate to have a run-in with the landlord...who happens to be a beautiful, but insecure, woman who has just taken over the company after the death of her grandfather. Mikhail is a wonderful hero, combining talent (he's a famous artist), practicality (he's also a licensed contractor who will fix the building) and a good sense of humor and romance, with more than a touch of alpha male...but, when it comes to any Stanislaski novel, it's all about family. And it's a wonderful family, so grab it and settle in for a great read!

Editorial Review:

The first time single-father Spence Kimball set eyes on Natasha Stanislaski, he was floored by her exotic beauty. But the former ballet dancer turned toy shop owner had a fiery temperament that kept men safely at bay. Sensing a hidden wound, Spence and his little girl joined forces to find a way into her closely guarded heart. For Spence realized he'd do anything to tame Natasha's fears…and show her how to love.

Luring a Lady Nothing in Sydney Hayward's background of wealth and privilege prepared her to take the helm of her family's corporation, and her new responsibilities left no room for complications. Mikhail Stanislaski was definitely a complication. Earthy and entirely masculine, Mikhail came from a world utterly different from her own. But the way she felt when he put his strong, work-hardened hands on her was wreaking havoc with Sydney's resolve.

Great to read about the Quinns, hated the heroine 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I was incredibly excited to read about Seth. It started out great. I was like WOW, Seth is an adult. It was weird. I loooooved him as a kid, so it was definitely hard to adjust to him as an adult, and I'm not entirely sure this is how I thought he would turn out, ya know? Like the physical and personality descriptions just weren't what I thought for him. I loved reading about the Quinns and their children. Cute, cute, cute. But then he met Drusilla, and I was instantly BLECH about the book. First of all, I hate that name. That was the name of a crazy, evil vampire on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," so I couldn't get that out of my head. But mainly, she was soooooooooooo uninteresting and unlikable as a character. Together, they were even more unlikable, and I kept checking the inflap hoping that this wasn't the heroine, that this was a sidetrack or something. So when Dru mentioned his connection to Aubrey, I was like YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!! Here comes the real romance, the one I actually want to read about. I was giddy and actually got into the book, but nope. That didn't work out. I thought Roberts had set up a Seth/Aubrey romance since the first book, and I was very disappointed that that's not what happened. Plus, Gloria is back in the picture, and she's been blackmailing him for 14 years??? UGH. I thought we solved all of that in Phillip's book, but apparently not??? HMMMM.
