Editorial Review:

Bestselling author James Patterson returns with the #1 blockbuster thriller of the summer, an unstoppable novel of law and revenge.

Senior FBI agent Nick Pellisante is closing in on the notorious mob boss "The Electrician," when the scheduled sting goes spectacularly awry. Two FBI agents are dead, the boss is wounded, and Pellisante vows the Electrician's next move will be from a jail cell.

Andie Echeverra, a part-time actress and a single, full-time mom, is assigned her next role as Juror #11 in the landmark trial against Mafia Don Dominic Cavello. Everybody is on edge. No one has ever crossed the man whose orders have made entire families disappear.

Though Cavello's influence extends across blue uniforms and black robes, the case should be open-and-shut. But the legal system fails with devastating results, and Nick and Andie are the only ones left to seek justice. To stop the Electrician, they must take matters into their own hands. They are the judge and jury now.

James Patterson spins an all-out heart-pounding legal thriller that pits two people against the most vicious and powerful mobster since John Gotti.

One of Patterson's Worst 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I am a huge James Patterson fan. He writes great, snappy books; vivid yarns, fun characters and great dialog . But if "Black Friday" had been the first book of his I'd read, I'd have never picked up an other one.

We should all be very happy that Patterson has learned from his early efforts. Indeed, were I he, I'd pay my publisher to recall and burn every copy. It's that awful.

If you have any grasp of reality and want to remain a Patterson fan, DO NOT READ IT! (I have given it one star because no star is not an option.)

Editorial Review:

The breathtaking suspense of Kiss the Girls and the authenticity of N.Y.P.D. Blue: Welcome to James Patterson's classic superthriller, BLACK FRIDAY. A courageous federal agent, a powerful and resourceful woman lawyer - only they can possibly stop the unspeakable from happening. New York City is under siege by a secret militia group - and that's just the beginning of the relentless terror of BLACK FRIDAY.

Originally published in 1987 as Black Market, also by James Patterson.

Did She Or Didn't She? 3 out of 5 stars.

This is not one of my favorites. Even though it was not that well written it still kept my attention. The plot involves a singer Maggie Bradford who is on trial for the murder of Will Shepard who was famous in the athletic world. The plot thickens when it appears that she may have murdered two husbands. Is she a Black Widow? Pick it up you will like it. Loved this book, ending is superb 5 out of 5 stars.

I cannot say enough good about this one, and I rarely dish out 5 star ratings. The perspectives of the characters are so well done. The ending is the absolute best, I read the last few pages over and over just to get that creepy feeling along my spine over and over again. EXCELLENT!!!

Editorial Review:

Maggie Bradford, the devoted mother of two children and one of the world's most beloved singer/songwriters, seems to have everything anyone could want, except that she is now on trial for the murder of both of her husbands, in a novel of unrelenting suspense. Reprint.

No Stars Would Be More Appropriate 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

If zero stars were available, that is what this novel would have received from me. I took along 3 books to read on vacation this year (my only time to read just for pleasure) and wasted 2 days reading this book. Being a fan of Patterson's current books, I thought I would read some of his older works. This book left me with the question "Why did I waste my precious vacation hours reading this?" I concur with another reviewer who stated that the dating of events is really strange. The epilogue has the exact same scenario as the prologue (with the same characters) but is dated 2 years later and these characters have all been horribly killed in the book, so it leaves you trying to figure out what happened since these characters clearly died earlier but are here again committing the same murders. What's up with that? I think I am pretty astute when reading the detective genre and only am occasionly surprised at a conclusion, but this one just left me wondering was some part missing? Was there some kind of clue that those murders didn't happen? I finally decided that it was just a poorly written book. I hadn't bother to read the reviews until I returned from vacation and then found that others had the same problem with this book that I had. If I had read the reviews before my trip, I would have taken a different book and not wasted my time on this read.

Editorial Review:

James Patterson's Cradle and All pits the intensity of faith against the certainties of science within an arena of Millennial tensions. A reworking of his 1980 apocalyptic thriller Virgin, this remodeled version boasts a genuinely unnerving premise, amplified with Patterson's fast-paced, uncluttered prose. In the midst of a series of unexplained plagues and famines, two teenage girls are heavily pregnant, despite being virgins. According to the sacred prophecies of Fatima, one will bear the child of Christ and the other, the spawn of Satan. Both Anne Fitzgerald, a former nun turned private detective, and the Vatican's Father Rosetti are sent to investigate. But which girl carries which child? The possibility of a miracle will be tainted with great suffering before the awful, unexpected truth is revealed. As the action moves speedily from the hallowed halls of the Vatican to the media frenzy of America to the small-town hysteria of Ireland, Patterson divines considerable suspense from the novel's central premise, tackling issues of faith with admirable aplomb:"All over the world, after all the years of difficulty, decades of diminishing spirituality, so many people still believed.... Everywhere, people talked of the Apocalypse, perhaps the end of the world. Which explained why so many people were suddenly going to church."A relentless pace culminating in a superbly twisted ending won't disappoint Patterson's faithful followers, and may even convert some new members. --Danny Graydon

Patterson (with co-author) Outdid himself 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book was one of his best. It had more depth with the historical fiction. I either like his books alot--- The Womens Murder Club mysteries, "The Honeymoon", "Beach House", and my favorite "Miracle on the 18th Green", or I don't--- like the Alex Cross books. Most with a co-writer are very good.
Jester was fasinating with amazing characters and a story that kept you wanting more. A fast and very interesting read. Thanx for the help. Andrew

Editorial Review:

Arriving home disillusioned from the Crusades, Hugh discovers that his village has been ransacked and his wife abducted by knights in search of a relic worth more than any throne in Europe. Only by taking on the role of a jester is he able to infiltrate his enemy's castle, where he thinks his wife is captive. With the unstoppable pace and plot of a page-turning Alex Cross novel, THE JESTER is a breathtakingly romantic, pulse-pounding adventure-one that could only be conjured by the mind of James Patterson. Everyone who has ever hoped for good to defeat evil or for love to conquer all will not be able to stop turning the pages of this masterful novel of virtue, laughter-yes, laughter-and suspense.

Sam vs. Suzanne 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I'm not going to be too hard on this book, because I knew what I was getting into. I took the plunge based no my experience with Suzanne's Letters to Nicholas. This book did not bring forth the same reaction from me. I cried and was moved for days based on the before mentioned book. This novel didn't bring me to that place.

I appreciated the story but felt it predictable. To be fair, I read Suzanne's at a different time in my life, and perhaps I was more emotional and less jaded toward predictable storylines.

In any event, if you were going to select one book to read between Sam's or Suzanne's, I certainly suggest Suzanne's.

Editorial Review:

James Patterson's #1 New York Times bestseller combines two unforgettable love stories in a novel that's impossible to put down. Jennifer returns to the resort village where she grew up to help her ailing, beloved grandmother-and ends up experiencing not one but two of the most amazing love stories she's ever known. The first is completely unexpected. In a series of letters that Jennifer finds, her grandmother reveals that she has concealed a huge secret for decades: Her great love is not the man she was married to for all those years. And then comes the biggest surprise of all: Just when she thought she could never love again, Jennifer finds herself caught up in the greatest flight of exhilaration she's ever known. But just as unexpectedly, she learns that this new love comes with an unbearable cost. Jennifer doesn't think she can survive the pain-but the letters she's been reading make her think that love may help her find a way.

Editorial Review:

By the #1 bestselling author of Lifeguard, a gleaming new summer thriller set in the luxurious Hamptons.

Montauk lawyer Tom Dunleavy's client list is woefully small--occasional real estate closings barely keep him in paper clips. When he is hired to defend a local man accused in a triple murder that has the East Hampton world in an uproar, he knows that he has found the case of his lifetime.

The crime turns the glittering playground of the super-rich into a blazing inferno. Dunleavy's client is a local hero, but Dunleavy knows the case rests atop a volcano of money, deception, and forbidden desires. His client is the perfect fall guy--unless he can find the key that unlocks the secret rooms of the gilt-shrouded set.

When Dunleavy is joined by his former flame, the savvy and well-connected attorney Kate Costello, he believes he has a chance. But payback is a bitch--especially from the rich. The violent retaliations of billionaires threatened by his investigation exceed anything Dunleavy has ever seen. With the entire nation's eyes on him in a new Trial of the Century, Dunleavy orchestrates a series of revelations that lead to a stunning outcome--only to find afterward that the truth is wilder than anything he ever imagined.
