I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. - Winston Churchill 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is the third book in the Sign of Seven Trilogy

Every seven years the town of Hawkins Hollow undergoes a change. Animals turn rabid, people turn on each other and the supernatural becomes reality. All this happens because of the blood ritual three boyhood friends performed on their 10th birthday on July 7th 1987. That ritual unleashed a demon and every seven years the boys do what they can to save the town and its people. This year they plan on stopping the demon for good.

This was the book I was most looking forward to in the series as I really liked Gage and Cybil's personalities from the other two books and looked forward to their inevitable romance. Their romance didn't disappoint and on a whole I really liked the story... I just didn't love it.

The ending was much too rushed for me. We have been working towards the battle against this demon since book one. The characters have invested pages and pages in research and strategy for two books. To have the battle start and be over within 6 pages (and to the soundtrack of the B-52's) was more than a bit of a let down. I really expected more battle and excitement and there are very few surprises or discoveries in this book.

The romance was great and what started off as a relationship based on heat, really turned into a nice love story. Nora did write some more terrifying passages involving the demon who takes shape as a little boy, some that made me shiver. She really did a great job of creating that demon.

I wasn't crazy about the first book, Blood Brothers, but really enjoyed the second book, The Hollow. The Hollow has all the excitement and discovery that the first and third books lack. This is definitely not my favorite book or series by this author, but I still enjoyed it and I am glad I bought it.

Nora Roberts "The Hollow" was EXCELLENT! I thought I might not be comfortable with the "evil" in it; but her writing is SO good, I couldn't put it down

Enjoyed 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a series that I would highly recommend to new and old readers of Nora Roberts. It has romance and the supernatural tied together in an intriguing tale. I can't wait for the finale!!!

Review of Audio CD 4 out of 5 stars.

See my review of "Blood Brothers", the first part of this trilogy. I am a fan of Nora Roberts and have enjoyed all the books I've read or listened to, especially her more recent works over the past 5-8 years. This is another good one.
That said, this is read by a different narrator than Blood Brothers. I found this woman so annoying I wanted to rip the CD out of the car, throw it out the window, and go get the written book. Thankfully I see the third book of the trilogy is read by someone else.

I won't be getting the final book in the trilogy 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I read the first 2 books in the Sign of Seven Trilogy, and I only bought the second book because I was hoping that it would be better than the first one, and thus get me hooked on the story but I was in for even more disappointment. I struggled to finish the first book and the second one was even more tedious.
I'm all for books on the struggle between good and evil, and don't mind a little bit of 'spook factor' but these 2 books were just downright creepy and not in a good way. I couldn't even get to care for the characters.
Unlike some reviewers I actually liked the Circle trilogy which was also a 'good vs. evil' trilogy, mainly because you could see the 'real' Nora Roberts in the writing-the witty conversation, the humor and the emotions, were all there. These are key elements that keep me returning to NR time and time again.
For the first time ever, I will be skipping the final book in a NR trilogy and I even skipped her last hardcover because the story line sounded like a do-over of so many of her older books. This saddens me because Nora has always been an auto-buy for me. Not anymore. Oh well, she's given us tons of great books over the years-I guess I'll just have to keep re-reading those until she returns to her great form.

Editorial Review:

In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it's called The Seven. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys-Caleb, Fox, and Gage-went on a camping trip to The Pagan Stone. And twenty-one years later, it will end in a showdown between evil and the boys who have become men-and the women who love them.

Amazon rips off customers 1 out of 5 stars.

Amazon sells this item for 2.99 plus shipping, the price, which is marked quite clearly on the front cover of the book is $2.50..............seems to me someone is padding their pockets as we all know that Amazon did not pay even 2.50 for these books.

A little short 3 out of 5 stars.

Did not realize this was a short story, do not pay more than 2.99 for it. It's a good book, but much shorter than I expected.

Editorial Review:

Leave it to number-one bestselling author Nora Roberts to spin a tale that blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy, modern-day mishaps and ancient curses, obsession and undying passion. She'll have you cheering for love to win the day as a man and woman discover just how deep their bond lies-and how some dreams are meant to be.

Spellbound follows world-famous photographer Calin Farrell on his much-needed vacation in Ireland. While there, Calin becomes bewitched by the ravishingly beautiful Bryna Torrence, even if he refuses to believe in the spell that has brought them together-and could destroy them both.

Fantastic, Superb! Can I say more. Devoured Ann Rices's Vampire Chronicles, & these also! Love NR romantic/susoense thrillers! Hated to see it end!

"love them" 5 out of 5 stars.

I wasn't sure about them when i started the first book, but then, about 15 pages in I couldn't put them down!!!

Great mix of characters with a story that possesses momentum 4 out of 5 stars.

Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy is entertaining. I am not usually a fan of vampire stories, but the interesting mix of characters, as she develops them in the first book, caused me to want to read on. Because the first book seems to be filled with so much character information, it feels slow. Frankly, I might not have finished the first book as quickly as I did, except my daughter was insistent that I read the entire trilogy. She assured me that "it gets better". And, it did. The story began to flow in the second book and I couldn't put it or the third book down. An entire summer weekend was spent with an unending promise to myself of "just one more chapter." Book two and three are worthy of the time spent on book one. Again, once past the first book, which sets up books two and three, I can promise you an enjoyable read.

Setting: Three Sisters Island

Sensuality: 7

A stunningly beautiful, powerful witch who possesses the gift of Fire, Mia Devlin locked her heart away when Sam Logan rejected her youthful love and left Three Sisters Island. Eleven years later, Sam returns to the island to claim Mia and take over his family business, the Magick Inn. Passion still burns between them, but Mia refuses to trust the man who once tore her life apart, leaving her grieving and alone. It's imperative that they find a way to resolve their thorny, complicated relationship for time is running out and the deadline for breaking a centuries-old curse is near. Mia has the steadfast aid of her two sisters of the heart, powerful witches that rule Air and Earth, but without Sam's help, even Mia's powers may not be enough to keep her alive until the deadline. And unless Mia makes the right choice about her heart and Sam, evil may win in the final confrontation, destroying all their lives and Three Sisters Island as well.

Face the Fire is the third and last book in bestselling author Nora Roberts's trilogy of witches, magic, and an age-old curse that began with Dance upon the Air and Heaven and Earth. This novel boasts a vivid seaside setting, sympathetic characters, and enough details about the practice of magic to intrigue the most cynical of readers. This is Roberts at her best. Don't miss it. --Lois Faye Dyer

Loved it! 5 out of 5 stars.

This was and excellent book from a wonderful series. I was sad when I finished reading it!

Where was the romance? 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I liked nothing about any of the characters.
I didn't find anything good about the heroine and I don't know how could the hero really fall for her. It didn't make sense since he was lusting after Mia almost to the end.

Mia the former best friend of Riply was a wicked witch only without a broom who constantly stabbed Riply in the back by bringing her down in front of Mac.... and supposedly she still loves her friend very much and misses her terribly.....What the hell?

Nora Roberts Heaven and Earth 5 out of 5 stars.

The series really "LAUNCHES" here.... 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've read most of the books in this series and I have to tell you that this one really made the series take off! The reader is welcomed into the lives of these characters with more depth and meaning than ever before. The story itself (The dating service and the serial killer) lends to enough suspense to keep the reader on the edge of the seat, but when one of "our own" (Peabody) goes undercover, you feel the fear akin to one of your own loved ones putting herself at risk.

An excellent story with quite an unexpected ending. I would recommend this series HIGHLY!

Editorial Review:

In the seventh of J.D. Robb's futuristic romance thrillers, NYPD Lieutenant Eve Dallas is on the trail of a serial killer terrorizing the city during the holidays. The only link between the victims--all are patrons of an exclusive dating service, Personally Yours. Working with her aide Officer Peabody, Peabody's nemesis Ian McNab, and her own intriguing husband, Roarke, Eve uncovers secrets that link the victims: secrets that involve both the owners and the clients of Personally Yours and which might be worth killing for. Whether she's writing as Nora Roberts or as J.D. Robb, Roberts weaves a taut and powerful story with lush sensuality and masterful characterization. This murder mystery combines elements of romance, science fiction, and police procedural genres in an entertaining mix that will keep readers turning the pages. --Lisa Wanttaja

Setting: Three Sisters Island, coast of New England, present day

Sensuality rating: 6

Perennial New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts's new Three Sisters Island trilogy is pure magic! No, I mean really magic. An intriguing combination of The Witches of Eastwick and Sleeping With the Enemy, Dance Upon the Air introduces readers to the idyllic town of Three Sisters Island. Reputedly conjured by a trio of sisters seeking to escape the Salem witch-hunts, the island remains a place of quiet refuge for one and all, including pretty Nell Channing who arrives in town afraid of her own shadow, with few possessions and no past. But the warm, sunny days and cool, windswept nights, as well as the loving concern of new friends--especially hunky sheriff Zack Todd--soon lure skittish Nell into a much-welcome fresh life. Nell's new boss, the captivatingly lovely bookstore owner Mia Devlin (look for Mia's story, hopefully, in the not-too-distant future), wonders from what or whom Nell is running. Mia treats Nell as she would a sister, which isn't too far off the mark, helping Nell discover and explore her inner resources while Zack's romantic attentions bring a rosy glow to Nell's cheeks and to her future. But something wicked this way comes… Will Nell be ready to face and conquer her past? Even with the love and support of Mia, Zack, and Zack's fellow police officer, his peppery, down-to-earth sister Ripley, Nell has the fight of her life--the fight for her life--on her hands. Roberts continues to delight fans and create new believers with her talent and imagination. --Alison Trinkle

THE BOOK ITSELF WAS QUITE "ENGAGING" AND HELD MY ATTENTION TO THE END. I JUST LOVE THE WAY NORA ROBERTS HOLDS YOUR ATTENTION TO THE VERY END.

3 1/2 stars for me 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Nora Roberts writes with ease and confidence. Her prose is always lucid and her plots are credible. Characterization is one of Nora's strengths, with people being revealed rather than described, thereby allowing the reader to engage the text with greater intimacy. This aspect of her writing was recently discussed during an interview with David Letterman on the 'Tonight Show', and at the conclusion of the interview, Letterman's side-kick, Paul Shaffer, screamed out at the top of his voice, 'Hey Nora! I engaged the enemy 20 years ago. Then I married her.' To her credit, Ms Roberts ignored the buffoon's comments and maintained a dignified, Harpo Marx-like silence, concluding the interview with a honk of her bicycle horn. It was a telling moment.

Editorial Review:

The number one "New York Times" bestselling author offers an irresistible combination of sensuality and charismatic characters in this duo of her earlier hard-to-find full-length novels: "A Will and a Way" and "Boundary Lines." Reissue.
