Well Thought Out 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I have followed Mary-kate and Ashley my whole life. I was a little sceptical about getting this book, because I did not want to be disapointed! I wasn't disapointed at all!!! The book in a whole is so inspiring. They put it together beautifully and the interviews are really well done!! My favorite part is the fact that just about everyone they interview talks about working REALLY hard. Which I think is what a lot of young people my age need to hear. That they didn't just deserve to be where they are, they have truley given their careers all they have to get where they are!!

Influential 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book did exactly what its title says, Influenced. It was a way of looking into peoples lives that we read about and see pictures of but really know little about. It opened my eyes to the world of different forms of art and peoples thought processes behind what they do, something that allows you to appreciate their work more. It was wonderful to see the passion in these peoples lives. I think of Mary Kate and Ashley in a whole different light, their style while maybe weird, is definately their own. It was a great read! I would 100% recommend this book!

Great for Cards! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I highly reccomend this item! I am a paper crafter, and I love using these paper fashions to make quick stylish cards. I love this item because unlike some paper fashion books, it offers paper and templates, not precut paper or stickers. This is a great product for scrapbookers and cardmakers, and for all girls big and small. Also, there are miniature hangers included that add an extra touch to my cards, and I even hung ties on them to make a father's day card.

Great for little fashion designers 5 out of 5 stars.

Got this for my 11 yr old daughter and she has really enjoyed making outfits and putting them on the hangers. We found scrapbook paper to make even more outfits. We love Klutz.

Editorial Review:

Turn colorful paper, ribbons and beads into glamorous fashion and accessories. All designs are completely customizable and the provided stencils will have you creating boutiques-full of outfits for shopping in the city, or heading to the ball. Miniature hangers are included so you can turn your designs into fashionable stationery, bookmarks, magnets and more. Bellisima!

My kids love it! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have a 7, 5 and 3yr old. They received this book along with a kid-safe ink pad. They love it! It's easy enough for them to follow and they love how easy it is for them to create the different animals and facial expressions. It's actually taught them quite a bit.

What fun! 5 out of 5 stars.

These are classic books that expand imagination. How could you not love them? I especially like how they encourage kids to draw without making it *too* detail oriented. (Alot can be achieved with a few simple lines!)

Simple and Fun sooooo cute!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the perfect craft activity. Cute, fun, simple. I love doing this with my children. I also love doing this with my students as I am an educator. All ages young and old love it. You can use fingerprint art for greeting cards or just making things up. This author is really wonderful. I have many of his children's books.

Great book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I used this book w/ my Preschool classroom to use at project time or if we needed to make a Thank You card for someone - a way for them to "sign" it!

This book is awesome and VERY easy to use. It would make a great gift for an early drawer.

Perfect for budding fashion designers 4 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

My daughter liked everything about this product. We did have to make some adjustments about the light table usage because the batteries were burning out to fast, but we have a special corner of the play area just for this toy and for posting the completed designs. Good for concentration, fine motor skills and creativity. Just don't tell the kids

Perfect for a 9 year old 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for my 9 year old niece for christmas and she loved it! The light box is fantastic. Only drawback I could see with this product is that there seemed to be too few blank papers to use on the lightbox. I used copy paper and cut it into thirds to give my niece an ample supply of blank paper that would fit the lightbox. It was easy enough to do. I highly recommend this for any little girl interested in fashion design.

Editorial Review:

Including a unique light table that illuminates every outfit, this kit helps kids create a full fashion line using acetate wardrobe pieces. Add color, patterns, and texture voila! Is it ready-to-wear or couture? Casual or red-carpet? It's the designer's choice! Comes complete with the fashion-forward light table, more than 30 acetate wardrobe pieces, ten artist grade color pencils, and ten sheets of drawing paper.

REVELING IN CORSET-LESS CHIC 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

As Maurice Chevalier sang, "Thank Heaven for little girls" . . . at least we can thank Heaven for one who grew up with an independent spirit, and an imagination for corset-Less chic. Coco Chanel (1883-1971) said "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." The book's end papers reproduce other quotations from this fashion icon, including "Fashion is made to become unfashionable!"

Elizabeth Matthews has written a perfect Springtime fancy, and the pen & ink illustrations are every bit as lively, just right for introducing children & their very willing parents to a story about the little girl Coco who overcame her tough childhood with sewing skills learned in a Catholic orphanage. She could hold her own with snobby students of privilege and learned much by watching her peers. She later hung fabric on mannequin forms and basted in her relaxed styles which brought her fashion immortality.

The author, who graduated from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, chose Chanel as her somewhat innovative subject for children's picture books. Matthews is sure to have studied much about Coco Chanel and her clever "inventions" of the cartigan suit, and in 1926 "the little black dress." Reviewer mcHaiku isn't quite as old as the famed Chanel No. 5; it contained more than 80 ingredients, a new fact about 'parfum' for this reader. Chanel epitomizes a certain fortitude & determination that we hope young readers will try to replicate.

Perhaps they will remember another of her sayings: "INNOVATION! One cannot be forever innovating. I want to create CLASSICS."

Editorial Review:

This picture-book biography of Coco Chanel, now an international fashion and culture icon, shows just how far a person can come with a little spunk and a lot of determination.

Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was always different. And she vowed to prove that being different was an advantage! Poor, skinny, and orphaned, Coco stubbornly believed that she was as good as the wealthier girls of Paris. Tapping into her creativity and her sewing skills, she began making clothes that suited her (and her pocketbook) - and soon a new generation of independent working women craved her sleek, comfortable, and practical designs.

Really nice book! 5 out of 5 stars.
15 of 17 people found this review helpful.

This is a really nice book. Lots of glossy color photos of star designers add to the enjoyment of reading this book. It's great for little or big girls interested in fashion. I especially liked the story of the little girl who made up a new kind of mitten. She's been very successful with her efforts. It shows that not everyone has to go to design school to be a success in the field.

MY BOOK 5 out of 5 stars.

I THINK I WANT TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER IS A GREAT BOOK TO READ SO THAT I CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT DESIGNING. I CANT WAIT TO READ IT AGAIN. I LEARNED TO NEVER GIVE UP ON AN IDEA. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW IF YOU WILL MAKE IT OR NOT IF YOU DON'T TRY. I LEARNED MANNEQUINS ARE FOR CLOTHING THAT I DESIGN. IF THERE IS A MISTAKE ON THE DRESS, IT IS A PRACTICE DRESS. IF I MAKE IT RIGHT THE NEXT TIME, IT IS A DRESS THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO DESIGN FOR MANY MANY TIMES.

Poor, Not Worth it. 2 out of 5 stars.
16 of 19 people found this review helpful.

This book seems like a lot of fun because it is so big and bulky, but it is not worth it. The stencils are very complicated to use for kids, not many fabrics, and not many ideas in the idea book. A good thing is that it comes with two small fragments of real fabric material. Overall, not very good at all, I would much more reccomend Paper Fashions by Klutz.

Great gift idea 5 out of 5 stars.
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

What a great gift idea for a recent college grad entering the job market or a teenager ready for a little more sophistication! (Not to mention those of us finally just getting around to using makeup and dressing better.)

This basic guide to style is clearly written, with instructions simplified into lists, and cleanly illustrated. The suggestions are up-to-the-minute without being over-the-top outrageous -- in other words, a how-to style guide that's actually useful. Highly recommended.

A Beginner's Manual 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found this book while loitering in a gift shop & read it in about an hour. It's not terribly useful for a 40 plus woman. It's a better book for women just forming their identity. If you have established taste, have been reading magazines & fashion/ beauty books for a while, this book will not offer you any new information. It is attractively presented & illustrated, if a bit random in its organization. The only information that was new to me was what should be in a bar.Otherwise, how to buy jeans, suits, black pants, lipsticks & sheets is second nature to a lot of women. Granted, I plan on giving this to my teenage daughter, as SHE doesn't know yet things like how to find & use a tailor, pour wine or decide how much to spend on a coat yet.

Editorial Review:

The experts at In Style show you how to live with style. Each chapter covers a different topic: how to walk in high heels, how to pose for a photo, how to apply eyeliner, how to pack for a trip, how to shop sales, how to pick your ideal foundation, how to find a perfect white shirt, how to find a bra that really fits, how to set up a bar at a party, how to clean jewelry and more.

This timeless, fun, step-by-step book covers fashion, beauty, entertaining and more.
