Editorial Review:

Leader. Protector. Friend. Lover.

God made you to be each of these…and much more. Stu Weber ’s bestseller, now revised throughout and refreshed with an attractive new look, paints a dramatic and compelling picture of balanced manhood according to God’s vision. Written in a warm, personal style, Weber presents the characteristics of tender warriors—including learning to speak the language of women, watching out for what lies ahead, and keeping commitments—in an upfront, straightforward style that challenges readers to realize God’s plan for men.

Some Things Are Worth Fighting For

Young men aspire to it. Women admire it. Yet the definition of manhood itself is obscured by a culture in moral free fall. This book cuts through the fog and defines a powerful blueprint for being the man—the Tender Warrior—that God desires for you and your family. You’ll discover that a Tender Warrior: watches out for what lies ahead—like a wagon train scout; keeps his commitments, no matter how painful; has a tender heart beating beneath his armor; understands his responsibility to his wife, children, and friends; recognizes that he is “under orders from higher headquarters.”

Stu Weber ’s now classic teaching on a man’s vigilance, staying power, and consideration for the women in his life will move you to pursue the man you were created to be.

Real Men Are Tender Warriors

“I drank Budweiser, smoked Marlboros, and chased women…. Tender Warrior sent me deeper into my heart and soul. When I finished it, I passed it on to a friend, who was supposed to give it back but passed it on to someone else. This book changed his life. It knocked down the walls around his heart. His response: ‘The most important thing that has happened in my life started when you sent me that book.’”

Story Behind the Book

((no story behind. Instead, endorsements)):

Tender Warrior provides hope for men by challenging their assumptions and shaping their convictions. Read it. Devour it. Then live it. This is the time for real men to emerge.”

—Dennis Rainey, executive director, FamilyLife

“In a day when our culture is at once confused and concerned over gender identity, men everywhere would to do well to recalibrate their personal compasses by the biblical benchmarks found in Tender Warrior . I highly recommend this book!”

—Dr. Bruce Wilkinson , New York Times bestselling author

Outstanding Wisdom for Men 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This book was recommended by a friend and it turned out to be the best men's book I have ever read, organizing a man's life into the four roles he fills. Mr Weber also does a great job in
showing what happens when those pillars become unbalanced.
Recommended for all men!

Decent, but not outstanding 3 out of 5 stars.

Our small group went through this book as a three month study. Overall, I felt that the author had good intentions and principles, but IMHO the book was poorly written and organized. On the positive side, Weber's section on the "King pillar" was for the most part quite strong and provided good application to me as a man.

However, the other pillars were not nearly as good. Some chapters seemed to be a string of sob stories without a particular point. I'm sure the author was attempting to stir up some sort of emotion, but the application and substance was sorely missing. Additionally, Weber tended to inject his political viewpoints into the book quite a bit. I'm very conservative by nature and even I thought he was a little heavy handed with the propaganda. Considering the glowing reviews on Amazon, I expected a little more from the book. I can't say that I recommend this book as group study, but it may be worthwhile to those who like his style.

Tiny book that really pumps 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Like the Tender Warrior, the Heart of the Tender Warrior is excellent. It clearifies for men their responsibility and their desire in a family. The world could certainly use more men who know who they are and what they are to do. Women who read this book will better understand the complexity of the men in their lives and be better able to meet the needs of these men.

Enlightening 5 out of 5 stars.

Having grown up without a godly father, I was unprepared to identify godly characteristics in a prospective husband. Stu Weber provided foundational charactertics, values and struggles of a godly man that greatly broadening my understanding and awareness. I first read this book more than ten years ago, and today I'm blessed to be married to a tender warrior.

Editorial Review:

It takes a warrior to stand tall and strong in an age of cynicism. Today, Stu Weber's ringing affirmation of godly manhood reestablishes a man's highest priorities. Brief chapters, salted with the author's stories, present the characteristics of tender warriors -- including watching out for what lies ahead, keeping commitments, and learning to speak the language of women. In his warm yet straightforward style, Weber shows how a man's strength can be tempered with tenderness, grace, and submission to God's Son, the ultimate Tender Warrior.

Just OK 3 out of 5 stars.

I heard great things about this book. I was underwhelmed. Nothing really new here.

Helped to bring things together. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Though the ideas are not new (it's all in the Bible) or unique, Stu does a great job bringing it all together in a way that helps the reader apply it to his life. Sometimes you just need someone to help get you remember that there is a model (Jesus) and with God's help we can improve the model that we present to our families and others who are watching.

I think every man (and woman, really) could benefit from this book 5 out of 5 stars.

There is a chronic disease that is ravaging our nation that you don't hear about in the news, but you do see its effects. It's called FATHERLESSNESS.

There is a generation now well into adulthood who come from broken homes, myself included. Much of the time the father is absent, as it was in my case.

Transitioning into manhood was difficult for me because I really didn't know what an authentic man was. I didn't know who I was, what I was supposed to do or be, or why I had such a hard time. As I grew, I realized that much of my struggle was due to the lack of a father leading the way. I felt as though I was in a jungle all by myself, hacking away at overgrown obstacles, trying to forge my own path. Had my father known what a real man was, he'd have stayed the course, a bit ahead of me, teaching me, fathering me, showing me how to navigate the path of life. But when a man fails his son, that son is forced to fight battles never intended for him.

Those battles touch every area of life: your view & value of marriage and commitments, relationships with parents, God, friends, siblings, children, dating/courting, education, career choices, character issues, morals, you name it. You've seen it. Probably even been touched by it. Like the crash of a falling tree that breaks the calm surface of a crystal-clear lake, a father failure causes damage with a ripple effect so strong that it wounds generation after generation. Thank God for guys like Stu who tell it like it is, call it what it is, and hold out the truth. He shows you the right target to aim for and gives you something to hold onto that will never fail: the very words of God, the ultimate Father.

This book is written by a "man's man." He was a college jock and a high-ranking officer in Vietnam. He's also a very well-studied pastor with a heart to see people living in God's will. In "Tender Warrior," Stu takes the reigns and shows you God's intentions for a man. He shares his own story, failures included. It's a strong foundation for others to stand on as they build their own lives. It's helped me a ton.

I also have benefitted from "Healing the Masculine Soul" by Dalbey, "To Own a Dragon" by Miller and "The Silence of Adam" by Crabb/Hudson/Andrews. There is hope!

Locking Arms (Man - to - Man) 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Locking arms is a book that discusses those relationships/friendships that men share. The book was a pleasure to read and it really hit home because no matter how macho a man is, he never wants to face life alone. Stu Webber really touches the intimate side of Godly male friendships. How they develop and how they last. I highly recommend this book to any man desiring to dive deeper into true Godly manhood friendships. One chapter that touched me in particular was when Webber talked about the "military buddy" I thought back to my days in basic training and how they forced us to choose someone to be our buddy. We were to share some triumphs and some defeats during the weeks to come and even thought I was never in battle I still have very fond memories of those times and the friendships developed.

Editorial Review:

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Discover the truth about God's design for masculine firendship, and learn to build sou-shaping, brother-to-brother relationships by LOCKING ARMS.

Call to battle! 5 out of 5 stars.
13 of 13 people found this review helpful.

Stu Weber, a pastor and former Green Beret captain, has written "Spirit Warriors" from the perspective that the Christian life is the war to end all wars. If you are a Christian - male or female - you are a spirit warrior in a "flat-out, knock-down, drag-out war". It is imperative that Christians grasp this reality. Weber states that a wartime theme pervades Scripture. Christians are called to 'fight the good fight of faith' and everywhere there are scriptures mentioning attacks, blood sacrifices, swords, shields, battles, defeats, and victories. Our adversary the devil is real, intense, and extremely devious, but thankfully he is not all-powerful or all-knowing. Neither will he be ultimately successful. God has given us angels, spiritual armour, and His Word to equip us for victory. With these, we can take captive every thought and tear down every stronghold that is raised up against the truth that is in Christ Jesus.
I found this book inspiring and uplifting. It charges the heart with spiritual vitality and strengthened faith in Jesus. The author addresses many issues that the Church would do well to pay attention to, especially in this day of spiritual confusion and post-modern philosophy. A book well worth reading for its balanced perspective and encouraging message.

Editorial Review:

Pastor and former Green Beret captain Stu Weber reveals the crucial spiritual battles that all Christians face constantly, whether or not they are aware of them. "Somehow we have come to mistakenly associate spiritual warfare with charismatic personalities strutting across brightly lit platforms ... whuppin' up on evil spirits," says Weber. "But spiritual warfare is so much more than a show." With warm and winning counsel, the bestselling author/speaker warns of the very real perils readers face, giving them what they need to survive and thrive.

Does everything really happen for a reason? Yes!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This was a great read! I've often wondered how the events of my life have brought me to where I am today. Does everything really happen for a reason? Stu Weber does a wonderful job of showing us that God has a plan for our lives and that he is present through each event we encounter. Infinite Impact is encouraging and will strengthen your faith so you can live each day your legacy created by God.

'Impacting' Book 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Fantastic book! I bought this book believing that it was something other than it is, but was pleasantly surprised to discover that what it had to say, was better than what I was expecting.

Let me explain. I was in a season of uncertainty about life and my future direction, so when I saw an advert for 'Infinite Impact' and read what the book offered, I (wrongly) believed that it would be some kind of inspirational workbook that would help me sort out my life and determine the will of God - kind of a Christian 'What Colour Is Your Parachute'. However, it was not - it was much better than that.

I found Stu Weber's encouragement for me to make the most of my time on the planet very refreshing and his definition of what success could look like in that regard very down to earth. Several of his points released me from trying to be someone that God is not asking me to be. There was a reality in this book that when conveyed, gave a sense of the simplicity that we as modern Christians have lost. For Stu (and now hopefully myself) an impact that lasts for eternity is hopefully one that starts with the members of my own family and doesn't need a stage, or a name in lights to be powerful.

This is a great read and I for one was delighted to discover it was not what I thought it was.

Editorial Review:

You are challenged to see your life as a story being written. Everything that has happened up until this point in time has a meaning and a purpose for your life. This book will challenge you to look at where you are in God's timeline and will encourage you to consider how you can use your life to make an infinite impact on earth, with echoes going on into eternity.

One of the most cherished books in my library! 5 out of 5 stars.

A collection of wisdom from the Lord's annointed servants of past and present. This book has been an aid in allowing God to reveal Jesus' character to me during my quiet and intimate moments with Him. 'Along the Road to Manhood' is my choice for devotionals.

Fantastic Collection 5 out of 5 stars.

I've had this book for years and have used it often as a source of inspirational quotes and stories. Stu Weber is calling men to a higher standard - God's standard - and he does it in a powerful and encouraging way. This is a great gift to give new fathers or to brothers in Christ.

Editorial Review:

Over and over, Scripture indicates that "Blessed is the man who finds wisdom...." A wealth of knowledge and understanding can come from the teachings of others. And now, Stu Weber has compiled in one compact volume some of the best writings related to manhood. Readers can tap into the powerful, life-impacting wisdom gleaned from generations of husbands, fathers, sons and brothers-plus a few good women-as they travel Along the Road to Manhood with Stu Weber, best-selling author of Tender Warrior and Locking Arms.

The Truth is Hard to Swallow 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Dennis Rainey's compilation of Christian authors is brought together very well. The content is so needed for the Christian who wants to make a difference in their home and in their marriage.

With a penchant for honesty and thorough research, this book delivers, in each chapter, a feast for thought and self evaluation. The intellectual approach to challeneging the Christian reader makes this book work better than 90% of the books I have read on this topic. The blending of the intellectual challenge, the practical application, and bibical foundation makes this book.

He starts by assessing the greatest challenges facing the family and then leads the reader to a biblical explanation for these challenges. The remainder of the book provides specifics for the husband and the wife in strengthening the marriage and raising masculine sons and feminine daughters.

If you do not have a Christ-centered life, you might feel as though this book is like climbing Mt. Everest without training for the climb. With that said, it is a "must" read in my opinion, but is suited best for matured Christians.
