Not great for a quick read 2 out of 5 stars.
6 of 9 people found this review helpful.

The book is too long, bleak and unappealing. The constant reminder of this so called "god" character was repeated too much and got old. It wasn't a good read. I suggest The Lord of the Rings.

excellent choice 5 out of 5 stars.

Very good product. The large print is good, and the pages are not cluttered with notes. This is the King James Version as it was written-- just what I wanted. Good price.

Trippiest Read in a Long Time 5 out of 5 stars.

Reading this book is basically the same thing as taking a LOT of shrooms. Don't try doing both at the same time.

Warning: Reading this book may cause life-long irrationality.

Editorial Review:

It's great to have plenty of choices when a Bible that's easy on the eyes and the wallet is called for. All three of these editions feature 15.5-point type that is exceptionally crisp even under subdued lighting conditions. The Presentation Editions flexible, soft imitation leather binding makes it easy to hold and carry.
The Deluxe Edition is a classic "preacher's Bible." Bound in buttery-soft genuine leather, it is the prefect gift for holding in one's hand while delivering a sermon or teaching from the Scriptures. This edition fits the bill as a special gift for the preacher, evangelist or Bible college graduate.

Not large 2 out of 5 stars.

Th use of the expressions [LARGE PRINT] and (Leather Bound) are misleading, as pointed out by earlier reviewers. I am now selling the book, unread.

My purchase from this seller was purchased one week after two other purchases from other sellers. This one arrived two days later. I thought it was one of the other orders and was amazingly surprised when it was the one I just purchased. Book was in excellant condition. Never even opened and much cheaper than anyone else for the same book. I expected it to have been at least opened. It never was. I recommend purchase from this buyer and will look for them again on my next purchase. THANK YOU!

Editorial Review:

Comfortably sized and great on the eyes, Nelson's NKJV Large Print UltraSlim Bible offers the best of both worlds.  Finally, you can have a Bible that fits nicely in your hands with print large enough for any reader.  It is a great Bible for pastors to use while preaching and teaching.  It's also perfect for daily reading for all Christians.

Great way to read the Bible! 5 out of 5 stars.

I am so happy that I bought this book. As a Christian, I enjoy reading the Bible, and this is a planned way of reading for a short time each day. It is a disciplined way to read the Bible that is very rewarding. I plan to read through it a minimum of twice a year. I highly recommend this book for those who are serious about the Word of God.

I was dissapointed in the delivery time and the quality of the book. I knew it was a used book, which I have purchased many times before, but this book was filled with writing in it. I don't remember that amount of use was in the product discription.

I love shopping at Amazon.com 5 out of 5 stars.

Life Application Bible, Large Print 4 out of 5 stars.

The reviews I read were very accurate. This Bible is very easy to read due to the print size; however it is heavy and a little cumbersome to carry as you would an ordinary book. I have no regrets for purchasing the book.

Good format. 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The only thing wrong with this book is the nearly see-through pages. The pages are even thinner than my other bible. I got the large print version thinking it would be easier to read, however due to the flimsy pages, I wish I would have went with the regular size print. I think there'd be less bleed-through when trying to read. If you don't mind eyestrain, the large version is great.

studying the word 4 out of 5 stars.

With the cross between the NIV and the Message it brings clarity to the word. Did not find the pages thin as I had read in earlier reviews. Pages were no thinner than any other bible that I have. Comparing price with other sites and stores, it was a good buy.

NIV/ The Message Large Print is a great addition to my library. 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

NIV/The Message: New International Version, Parallel The one that I purchased was Large and Giant Print. It is easy to reference. The print is not quite as large as the LARGE PRINT books at my local library but still legible to me. I received the book in a timely fashion and in excellent condition. Buying from Amazon was easy. I have recommended this way of purchasing books to others.

Excellent. Thought provoking. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Everyone who's ever wondered about the will of God should read this book. It provided answers to many questions I have always had about suffering and sins. An excellent read.

Editorial Review:

The phrase "the will of God" is used loosely, says Leslie Weatherhead, and the consequence of that looseness to our peace of mind is serious. Weatherhead's recognition of this problem led him to write The Will of God, a classic that has helped more than a million grieving persons better understand the meaning of the phrase. It can help you as well.

It was during the tumultuous era of World War II that Leslie Weatherhead preached five sermons on understanding the will of God for the congregation at City Temple in London. These sermons became the classic book The Will of God, which has helped hundreds of thousands of Christians explore how God's will is related to God's character and ultimate intentions for us.

A six-week workbook study is also available that uses three case studies to illustrate the questions that arise in understanding the book #0687008409.

Excellent 5 out of 5 stars.

If anyone is serious about Bible study, get this Bible. I was worried because I anticipated a very large and unmanageable bible. It turns out, that the size is actually smaller than other full-size bibles. It is thick, but one gladly lives with that minor inconvenience in exchange for the wealth of information. If any of you out there is bilingual, I'd suggest the "Vida Plena" NIV Spanish Study Bible (also by Zondervan, unfortunately, this one has a very small print). One study Bible complements the other, for "Vida Plena" has around 80 articles that are priceless!, but its concordance is actually a reference in alphabetical order by theme/word, while the English version has a reference and a concordance by theme/word but no articles: the informaation contained in those articles has been spread out throughout the notes and sometimes you are referred from one "note" to another "note". I have two other English versions so called "study bibles"... They cannot compare to this one. I absolutely love it, and if I could, I'd give it a 10 stars rating.

Editorial Review:

The classic, best-selling NIV Study Bible, completely revised and updated, available in a 10.9-point type large-print edition.

COMPREHENSIVE UPDATE OF EXCELLENT COLLECTION OF CATHOLIC PRAYERS LARGE PRINT FOR US OF ELDERLY EYES 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 11 people found this review helpful.

Somehow someone overnight exchanged my good old eyes that could read the small print on the back of my credit card bill with someone's tired out used and weary eyes that don't work that well. Either that or someone swappped out my arms for shorter ones that cannot hold text far enough away to come into view.

So people like me are very grateful for visible fonts, as in this prayer book.

The Rev. Maurus of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) has been publishing prayer books for some twenty five years. This is a reprint of an edition from twenty years ago. If it is important to you to include the new Luminous Mysteries in your Rosary celebrations, please be certain to get this, the latest edition.

You will find here the regular prayers of the Faithful, including morning, afternoon and evening prayers, as well as such sacramental celebrations as the Stations of the Cross and the Eucharistic Adoration.

The Celebration of the Sacraments includes preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and of course the Mass, with Communion prayers. There are prayers for before and after Mass, and for a variety of Masses, including the Ordinary of the Mass. In the old days this might partially be called a Missal and more; although it cannot replace a Missal with the cycle of readings, it can certainly serve as supplement.

Prayers of the Saints are included. You can also find here Acts of Faith, Hope, and Charity, as well as prayers for sickness, and in death. The commentary on the prayers is also a helpful companion. A section on Our Faith may also be found useful, if necessarily incomplete (study the theologians for more on this, including Jesus: An Experiment in Christology, Praying With Jesus And Mary: Our Father, Hail Mary and Mary: Model of Justice (Reflections on the Magnificat)!).

Editorial Review:

Today's most popular general prayerbook, The Catholic Book of Prayers contains many favorite prayers for everyday, to the Blessed Trinity, to Mary and the Saints, and a summary of our Faith. Written in Giant Type. Flexible binding.

A Tool for Understanding That Has Blessed Me 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

It's perhaps a little late to add to the hundreds of good reviews. And I surely won't describe the Bible's content or Bullinger's extraordinary scholarship or the contents themselves. But I come from the A.A. tradition. The Good Book and the Big Book: A.A.'s Roots in the Bible (Bridge Builders Edition); The James Club and the Original A.A. Program's Absolute EssentialsThe Good Book-Big Book Guidebook; and Twelve Steps for You: Take the Twelve Steps with the Big Book, A.A. History, and the Good Book at Your Side. In a time when Biblical emphasis in A.A. has all but disappeared, I had to dig away at the Word of God with all the tools I could find. Bullinger's Companion Bible was a top resource. Reviewers have described its annotations, footnotes, and appendices. And I still use them all. My first copy is weather-worn and has been replaced by a shiny new one. But the need and value remain. To be able to tie together the New and Old Testaments, find the detailed explanations, and soak up Bullinger's research has been a joy to me as I have marched toward the abundant life and the eternal life that's sure to follow.

Editorial Review:

(Notes and appendices by E. W. Bullinger) A classic one-volume study Bible in the King James Version. Helps include 198 appendices, including explanations of Hebrew words and their uses; charts; parallel passages; maps; lists of proper names; calendars; and timelines. A popular study Bible now available in this enlarged type edition. (20040603)

Editorial Review:

In this contemporary English version of the New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs, Eugene Peterson strives to convey the earthy truths of the original Greek and Hebrew texts. As he explains in his introduction, there were two levels of language in the Greek-speaking world, "formal" and "informal". The one was for use in official documents, epic poetry, and philosophy, the other for shopping lists and personal letters--the common idiom of everyday speech. "This is the language used throughout the New Testament ... a rough and earthy language that reveals God's presence and action where we least expect it, catching us when we are up to our elbows in the soiled ordinariness of our lives and God is the furthest thing from our minds."

It is in the spirit of this "soiled ordinariness" that Eugene Peterson translates John 1:14 (NIV: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us") to "The word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood." Likewise, in Romans 8:3 where the NIV renders "For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering," The Message reads, "God went for the jugular when he sent his own son.... In his son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all." Peterson offers no pretense of elevated language or intellectualism, only the insistence that God is relevant in 20th-century work-week and weekend lives.

This kind of translation is not a new enterprise, however. Tyndale--the man singularly responsible for our English translations of the Bible--is purported to have said in a dispute with opposing clergy, "If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost." We're simply glad someone of our own generation chose to do the same. --Benjamin Gebhardt
