Poor John 4 out of 5 stars.

Loved the book. I could relate to the characters, especially Savannah. As a southern, christian girl myself, I found her very believable. I just wish the ending would've been a happy one. Now I have to worry about John...

Spark's Even Outdoes Himself 5 out of 5 stars.

Dear John could arguably be Spark's best novel to date. As perhaps the greatest love storyteller of our time, the New York Times Best Seller tops even his own works.

Dear John attempts tells a story of true love and loss and all of the emotions that go along with them. Set in modern times, it paints an accurate picture of post-9/11 life and its effect on relationships.

In gripping detail, Spark's lays out the story of John and Savannah and a summer romance that would last until the end of time. But love is not without its tragedies, and these two would be faced with the hardest ones of all. Would their love be strong enough to survive? Or would time and distance allow love to be overcome by everyday adversities? What sacrifice would be too much to ask?

In the end, both Savannah and John learn the true meaning of love. Both learn all too well, that love can only be valued by what you would give to show it.

A true must-read that will tug at the very fabric of your heart.

Editorial Review:

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his lifeuntil he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. Dear John, the letter readand with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true loveand face the hardest decision of his life.

My favorite by Nicholas Sparks 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have read many of Nicholas Sparks' novels, but this one was by far my favorite. The story begins where "True Believer" left off, which is also a very good book. The story of Jeremy and Lexie is continued as they begin their lives together (I won't say too much for anyone wanting to read True Believer!) and the complications that arise while they receive bad news, deal with betrayal, guilt, suspicion, and the stresses marriage can create. I love the way Sparks writes and I feel this was perfectly done. I was left completely emotionally attached to the characters, feeling exactly as they felt as the novel moved along. In the end, I truly cried. I expected to be sad, but hadn't anticipated the ending at all. It was a beautifully touching book that I would recommend to anyone who likes Nicholas Sparks, is getting married, wants to have children/has children, or just enjoys an emotional story written beautifully.

Editorial Review:

A New York Times Bestseller Author

Jeremy Marsh is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. But a mysterious message re-opens old wounds and sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of this young couple's marriage.

ridiculous and contrived 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I really hated this book ... It was so sappy and artificial I could hardly get through it. A friend loaned it to me who loved it, and honestly I just don't get it.
I thought the idea of the story wasn't so bad, so I guess I kept expecting it to get better. It never did. The "romantic" parts were totally unbelievable and just stupid. Even the characters didn't seem convincing ... I'm sorry, but no straight man would ever rollerblade through Manhattan listening to Corinne Bailey Ray.
If you liked the concept of the book, I highly recommend "The Time Traveler's Wife" instead of this shallow waste of time. Time Traveler is one of the most romantic stories I've ever read about timeless love and is in a class far above Sundays At Tiffany's.

Editorial Review:

As a little girl, Jane has no one. Her mother, the powerful head of a Broadway theater company, has no time for her. She does have one friend-a handsome, comforting, funny man named Michael-but only she can see him.

Years later, Jane is in her thirties and just as alone as ever. Then she meets Michael again-as handsome, smart and perfect as she remembers him to be. But not even Michael knows the reason they've really been reunited.

SUNDAYS AT TIFFANY'S is a love story with an irresistible twist, a novel about the child inside all of us-and the boundary-crossing power of love.

Good, not what I expected.. felt a little watered down 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I came across this series and decided to give it a try. I ordered the first four books. This first book left me scratching my head in certain areas.

For example, parts of this book read as though it was the second in the series. It seemed like they would reference something that happened in the past and give you a quick up to speed as to what they were talking about and then move on from there. Something you would see in a second or third book to try to catch the reader up to date. I even went back and made sure I had the right book.

Characterization:

Overall the heroine is labeled as a strong "tough as nails" kind of gal. This I liked. She wasn't whiny and she was very straight forward. I immediately took a liking to Anita Blake. You don't really know alot about her past as it's never explained. Some parts are referenced very briefly as I've said before then forgotten, like we should know where she got that scar, or who this person is and how they came into her life already.

The main villian in this story is a child master vampire who is over a thousand years old. The first thing that came to my mind when it was said she was a child vampire, was Claudia from Interview with the Vampire. From then on that's who popped in my head everytime this child was in a scene. There were several other side villians all working together, but even though they seemed like a big deal to Anita, one even from her past, they were snuffed out very quickly at the end and had little importance in the outcome of the story.

There are a few different characters that are introduced in this book, yet I didn't feel like I got to see them develop or even learn anything about their personalities. It was pretty much "This is _____, he does this" Then they would move on.

Romance:

None. This was kind of disappointing to me since I thought this was a paranormal romance series. I suppose I was wrong. No one to blame but myself there.

Plot:

Decent. I felt it had great potential, but it felt very rushed at the end. Everything came to a head in the last five pages and was quickly solved. The most powerful child vampire went down too quickly and easily for how powerful and scary she was made out to be.

Overall:

I gave it three stars, because I felt like it was missing something. Which I understand it was the first book of the series, yet I felt like it didn't give me the information I was looking for right away. It was rather short and I felt it could have been a bit longer and the characters introduced at a slower pace with some more information of the past given. I felt like I was reading cliff notes on what the book should have been. Perhaps I judged too harshly. Maybe that's why there are so many books in the series. It could be that all of the past information in told in the remaining series. Yet, why make 16+ books of little info when you can write half as many longer and better written books is beyond me. Maybe it's just a way to get more money.

Will I read the other three? Yes. I bought them might as well read them. Perhaps they will get better with time.

Romantic mystery with great twists! 5 out of 5 stars.

I don't want to give it all away. Basically, a doctor is called
in to authenticate a Native American "death mask" While she is
attending the piece, she is assigned an agent to act as bodyguard. Their personalities are oil and water. But when serious murder attempt is tried against the doc, more than a
mystery starts to heat up.
Swift moving story with sharp 3-D characters.

ok but not fantastic 3 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

This is an early Brockmann that was written in 1994 and resurrected and published in 2001. The suspense part of the plot takes a little bit of a back-seat to the tons of lusting that goes on. But I did find the underlying reason for the actions of the villains to be believable.

The heroine is an archaeologist who is suspected by the FBI and CIA of being involved in a series of museum bombings. The CIA hero is placed under cover as her bodyguard when she's threatened and has her home/lab broken into by some shadowy group trying to get their hands on an old death mask she's currently authenticating. The agency hope is that the hero will get earn her trust and learn something to help them nail her for the bombings.

Most of the book centers on him watching her and watching out for her. There is
a sprinkling of information on authenticating artifacts but I don't know enough to tell if Brockmann did her research or not. There is a heck of a lot about what the heroine eats. What I did find hard to believe is the fact that the heroine doesn't immediately go to work on authenticating the piece that is causing so much trouble. The FBI and CIA use the fact that the heroine is being threatened for handling it as a cover to have its owner put a 24 hour guard on her for weeks and she just lets it sit in her safe while working on other pieces? I would think she'd want to get rid of it quickly but then we'd have no story.

I also thought the change in whether or not the hero believed her innocence very quick and would have expected to have a few scenes of him poking around through her stuff and listening in on phone calls. Instead he just seems to accept that she had nothing to do with the bombings. But it's a series book so maybe space was a factor here. All in all, it's not bad but has an awful lot of lusting.

Editorial Review:

When Pete Taylor first offered his services as a bodyguard, Annie Morgan wanted nothing to do with him. She was sure that the death threats against her weren't serious. While the Native American mask she was working on was valuable, it wasn't worth killing for.

One murder attempt later, Annie was glad to have Pete around. She owed him her life. Suddenly she was beginning to believe in heroes—and dreams. But Pete wasn't a fantasy—he was real, and at the moment he was the only person she could allow herself to trust, no matter who he was.

I could not get into this book... around page 85 I started speed reading. This book is so overly sentimental. Admittedly I am not a big romantic type so this book may appeal to some, but it definitely wasn't for me.

Heartfelt, heartbreaking, and heartwarming! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book will grab your heart and won't let go until long after you've read the last page, leaving fingerprints as a reminder of what matters most in life. You will breathe and bleed and cry for Reese and Emma ... Reese and Annie ... Reese and Charlie ... Reese and Cindy -- each pair sharing heart-healing actions with each other.

The book's messages arrive with felt force, like the resilient beat of a healthy heart, over and over and over ... reminding us that the heart offers redemption and renewal through an unknowable life-force that transforms as it purifies. Like the heart, this book has a pulse and a heartbeat that you will feel.

Read it and be moved, from smiles to sobs. Read it and be thankful for divine coincidence (also known as answered prayers ... that lead a heart surgeon to a lemonade stand and a girl who needs a new heart, that tease him out of grief and withdrawal to use his heartfelt, God-given gifts once again). Read it and shout, Hallelujah!

Editorial Review:

A man with a painful past. A child with a doubtful future. And a shared journey toward healing for both their hearts.

It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. But the little girl's pretty yellow dress can't quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. The stranger understands more about it than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

Before it's over, they'll both know there are painful reasons why crickets cry...and that miracles lurk around unexpected corners.

Message in a Bottle 5 out of 5 stars.

Like most of Sparks love novels, this novel is unique within its own story.

Theresa Osborne is taking vacation in Cape Cod when she comes across a bottle, that has paper in it. She opens it to find out that a man named Garrett has written a letter to his wife revealing his love for her. Theresa is intrigued by this letter and wants to find out more about Garrett. She is divorced and lonely. So, she embarks on a journey to see if others have found similar messages and actually finds other messages. She falls in love with Garrett and decides to go and find him. A relationship does evolve, but there are problems that arise because they are two totally different people. This story is a great read and will bring tears to your eyes.

Editorial Review:

The author of the runaway "New York Times" bestseller "The Notebook" pens a tale of self-discovery, renewal, and the courage it takes to love again. When a 36-year-old single mother finds a love letter in a half-buried bottle while jogging along the shores of Cape Cod, she decides to take a dramatic leap that will forever change her life.

Editorial Review:

When I wrote my first novel, The Christmas Box, I never imagined it would become an international bestseller. It was a story for my two (then) little girls. But as I wrote, I realized that it was also for my mother -- to ease her pain over losing a child. My mother was my staunchest supporter and my biggest fan. A receptionist at a doctor's office, she would sell my book (sometimes by the case!) to patients in the waiting room. When The Christmas Box hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, no one, including me, was more excited than my mother.

I lost my mother on Valentine's Day of 2006. After weeks of struggling with my grief, I decided I would write a story for her. As she loved Christmas, I chose to write a Christmas novel, my first since The Christmas Box.

Finding Noel is about how people come into our lives for a reason. It is a love story about Macy and Mark, two young people from different worlds.

I'm sorry that this Christmas, for the first time since I became a writer, I won't be able to present my mother with a copy of my book. I think she would have enjoyed reading it. But, then again, I'm not certain that she hasn't.

As you read Finding Noel, I hope that you enjoy the journey and feel the same powerful emotions I felt as the story came to me.

Fondly,

Richard Evans
