Editorial Review:

Gemma Doyle is looking forward to a holiday from Spence Academy—spending time with her friends in the city, attending balls in fancy gowns with plunging necklines, and dallying with the handsome Lord Denby. Yet amid these distractions, her visions intensify—visions of three girls dressed in white, to whom something horrific has happened that only the realms can explain.

The lure is strong, and soon Gemma, Felicity, and Ann are turning flowers into butterflies in the enchanted world that Gemma takes them to. To the girls' great joy, their beloved Pippa is there as well, eager to complete their circle of friendship.

But all is not well in the realms—or out. Kartik is back, desperately insisting to Gemma that she must bind the magic, lest colossal disaster befall her. Gemma is willing to comply, for this would bring her face-to-face with her late mother's greatest friend, now Gemma's foe—Circe. Until Circe is destroyed, Gemma cannot live out her destiny. But finding Circe proves a most perilous task. . . .

This sumptuous companion to A Great and Terrible Beauty teems with Victorian thrills and chills that play out against the rich backdrop of 1895 London, a place of shadows and light . . . where inside great beauty can lie a rebel angel.

Interesting 4 out of 5 stars.

This was a fairly good book, revealing much about Sasha's origins and Tigerstar's time in ShadowClan. Sasha is much more meek than how she is portrayed in the TNP series, and her feelings for Tigerstar and her reasonings for wanting to be with him are explained. The story is told from her vantage point, up to the end where we are left waiting for the next book. It is admittedly overshadowed by the great Eclipse, (properly named) which has brought back Warriors fans everywhere, but the art is good, and I am left anticipating the next book, which promises even more. The book is slightly overpriced for one of it's size, and the fact that it is not an actual novel, but I do recommend that you read this one.

Editorial Review:

Sasha has everything she wants: kind housefolk who take care of her during the day and the freedom to explore the woods beyond Twolegplace at night. But when Sasha is forced to leave her home, she must forge a solitary new life in the forest. Life on her own is exciting at first but quickly gets lonely. When Sasha meets Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, she wonders whether she would be better off joining the ranks of his forest Clan. But Tigerstar has many secrets, and Sasha must decide whether she can trust him.

I just love this series. It is nice to have another author that is interested in writing clean and wholesome stories. Go Stephenie. My dauhgters got me reading this series and I bought this set for my mother, who has now read all the books and she has been passing her copies around the rest of the family. I would highly recommend these books, couldn't put them down.

Best Series I Have Ever Read~! 5 out of 5 stars.

In August of 2007, I was searching for books to read after Harry Potter. I came across an article about the Twilight Saga being the next HP. I wrote the title of the first book down for reading at a later date.

Fast forward to May of 2008. When starting my first year of college, a girl in my Psychology class was talking with me about her favorite books. She mentioned Twilight, and said I could borrow her copy to read it. I accepted her offer and gave the book a try. I was hooked from the first chapter. I bought all the books for myself and am completely obsessed! I may buy this package just to have it! But seriously, if you haven't read this wonderful series, this is the best way to get the first 3 books. And don't miss the movie on November 21st!

Editorial Review:

Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse capture the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This stunning set includes three hardcover books, two full-color posters and exclusive tattoos, and makes the perfect gift for fans of this bestselling vampire love story.

I started this series in 4th grade. I'm 24 now and I have read it over again about 4 times. This book was amazing when I was a child, and it still is. Brian Jacques does a fantastic job with his characters and scenery. The poems/riddles are great. The best of the series: Mattimeo. (3rd book)

Redwall is a great story about animals trying to defend themselves from the evil ones, but I would be careful who I recommend it to. I enjoyed most of it, with the exception of some of the rough scenes wherein someone dies or is tortured. The author doesn't make a great deal of it, yet they are descriptive and perhaps too much for younger readers, or listeners... an adult can handle it fine.

The Best Book Ever 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

James and the Giant Peach is the best book I have ever read! It is about a boy named James whose parents were killed by a rhinoceros who escaped from the London Zoo. Because he no longer had parents, James was forced to live with his two aunts who were very mean to him.

One day when he was working, an old man gave James some magic green beans. If James swallowed the green beans, nothing bad would ever happen to him. James accidently dropped the green beans in the dirt and they disappeared into the earth.

There were eight beans and seven insects suddenly became very large after they ate the beans. James was wondering what happened to the eighth bean. It hit an old peach tree and a giant peach grew on the tree.

James and the insects became friends and they lived in the giant peach together for a day. They all realized that they had to escape from the James' horrible aunts. They cut the peach off the tree and it went rolling away with James and his friends. It rolled off a cliff and landed in the ocean.

After this point, James had many adventures inside the peach with his insect friends. They find a way to escape from sharks, they escape from "cloud men" who throw rocks at them, and finally, they make a way to land safely in busy New York City.

Enjoy all these exciting advenutres yourself by reading this great book!

Warriors 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Well, this book is titled secrets of the Clans, but there really aren't many secrets shared. I mean, there are some quiet stuff like cat's point of view on things, but they aren't secrets. There are a few typos, one including Scourge being listed a Blood when he killed Tigerstar. It is long, but some stuff in it I just plain don't like. When it advertised and said, "Full color pictures!", I did not know it just meant the warrior books printed out with no words or smaller picture on it. And there is a lot of stuff we already know- maps and stories, for example. There are some things that I feel Erin Hunter just threw in there to make it thicker, stuff that really is not a secret thing. The stuff in it that I do like, however, are the parts where they talk about cats of the clans. Like how it gives details about the cats before we met Rusty as he mouse hunted- Featherwhisker was Spottedleaf's mentor, for example. It has a few pictures of cats, like Tallstar and Crookedstar. They are small and ink, though. I just wonder- exactly how long have the Clans been running? I thought it must have been for many years, yet the book says that the first leader, Thunderstar, had a deputy named Owleyes who became Owlstar. Owlstar had a deputy who became Sunstar, and Sunstar's deputy was Bluestar. So it really can't have been going on for at least a hundred years, which is what I thought. Anyways, the beginning of the Clans part was neat, and the map that is from the forest to the lake is neat as well.
You should really just go to the library to get this book, not buy it. Though not fantastic, it's not horrible, either.
Have fun,
Moonwhisker

Enchanting Review: The Dead Girls' Dance 5 out of 5 stars.

THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE {Morganville Vampires Book 2}
RACHEL CAINE
Paranormal YA

Rating: 5 Enchantments

Claire is a brilliant college student stuck in Morganville. With possibly no way out...ever. Living with Shane, Michael and new best friend Eve, she is trying to attend college and live a halfway normal life. With vampires running the town, she gets driven to school and tries to lay low at night. Claire is a personable girl with a catty wit that will make you laugh out loud.

In book two of the series, Claire and her friends are all involved with new problems. Branching out from where GLASS HOUSES ended, Shane's dad is in for a visit after Shane called him. His dad is after blood, and it's not the human kind. With a mad man on the loose and killing vampires, everyone is pointing fingers at Claire, Michael, Eve and Shane. Oliver, the vampire manager of Common Grounds, is plotting revenge and is getting help from an unlikely source. Eve also starts a new job at a coffee shop on Claire's college campus. While indulging in coffee and talking to Eve, a college guy named Ian invites the girls to EEK frat houses' Dead Girls Dance. Michael, still not able to leave the house, makes a choice that will not be easily forgotten and will shock all of his friends in the house. When Shane gets into some trouble, because of dear ole dad, Claire and Eve decide to go to the frat party, with a seat-gripping chain of events all the way to the end.

THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE gripped me from page one, just as much, if not more, than the first book in the series. Ms. Caine knows how to get readers interested and keep them hanging on. From the antics of the spoiled-brat Monica to the ending at the frat party, this book is non-stop fun. It flows smoothly and is very hard to predict what's going to happen next. All the characters are well-developed; you can feel their emotions of having to live in this town that's overrun by vampires. THE DEAD GIRLS DANCE is one of the best vampire stories that I have read so far.

Ms. Caine is the author of another series called `The Weather Warden' and some other stand-alone titles. She continues to write books for the `Morganville Vampire' series. Her website, www.rachelcaine.com, has loads of information on her and her books. She also has a myspace page that includes some wallpaper from the books and a mailing list you can sign up for with the latest information on contests and new releases.

I'd like to give these books 1 star, but they did succeed in introducing my 4-year-old to chapter books, and she does like them, so they are worth something. But I find them painfully boring to read. We have read more than a dozen of these books (Rainbow Fairies, Weather Fairies), and my daughter *still* constantly asks, "Which is Rachel? Which is Kirsty?" The two protagonists are blobs, indistinguishable from each other except for their hair color, and devoid of any interesting personal characteristic.

There are much, much better books out there: The Disney Fairies series and the American Girls series are two that we have enjoyed.
