Type face is easy to read - Bible is sturdy and easy to handle. After brief review it's easy to find things - and there is so much to find! Maps, character studies, discussions, etc. I bought this recently when I joined a Bible study group. My old King James version Bible never "invited" me to really use it - this Study Bible is the opposite - I write in it, highlight, make notes, etc. I'm happy with my choice!

I love this Bible...unfortunately it's the second one I have now. I loved it so much I wanted to find something similiar but didn't realize I was buying the same Bible with a different cover. Please note that the compact NIV Bible with a pink cover and the number "1" on the front is the EXACT same text. For some reason this one typically sells for less.

The New International Version is excellent for readability and overall quality. However, because it is only 52% consistent with the original language (Old Testament comparison only) you cannot do serious bible study without using a concordance. This book was exactly what I was looking for. Leslie Ludy lets tells you like it is...she doesn't hold back and thats what I like. A lot of young girls can relate to this book because this author is not just writing it...she's lived it. I think that's what makes a difference. I'm in my early twenties and this book has helped me. So I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to stay pure for Jesus and who wants a closer relationship with Him.

I first read this book on sexual purity as an eighth-grader. When I decided to reread it for a college class, I discovered its insights are equally valuable (if not more so!) to a twenty-year-old college student. As Dannah Gresh illustrates seven truths about sexual purity, she also shares personal stories - some celebratory, others shameful - which every adolescent female can relate to, whether she's been in a relationship or not. Gresh covers a lot in under 200 pages: she urges girls to seek healing in a close relationship with God, offers clothing advice, and explores the more-than-skin-deep definition of purity. Although Gresh's target audience appears to be teen girls, I think women in their twenties could benefit from it as well. The text is easy-to-read (always important when an author tackles such difficult subjects) and the message very moving. There are a lot of purity/love/dating books floating around, but this is my all-time favorite because of its practicality, straightforwardness, and thorough treatment of the subject matter.

Interesting but very religious and difficult to relate to 2 out of 5 stars.

While this book makes some interesting points and has some good ideas for working towards healing I had a tremendously difficult time identifying with it because of how heavily it relies on the Christian faith. I am not a Christian and eventually had to stop reading the book because almost every page makes mention of Christ, Jesus, The Lord Jesus Christ and as a non-Christian it was distracting and difficult to take in the book. I am certainly not offended by this. However it is as much a theme of the book as sex addiction is and it just made the book completely unrelatable. Many other sexual addition books I have read, all actually, talk about a higher power which makes up a very important part of recovery and I embrace that wholeheartedly.

The book issued by Echo Library in 2006, edited by T. Taylor, is an obsolete translation of an inauthentic version of a classic 1 out of 5 stars.

Rev. Thomas Taylor's early 20th century translation of the memoir of St. Therese of Lisieux, unfortunately republished in 2006 by Echo Library, was made from the only manuscript then available outside her monastery, one substantially rewritten by Therese's sister Pauline, who made seven thousand changes. Scholars interested in the documents which gave rise to the cult of St. Therese may wish to consult early versions of Taylor. I urge those who want to read what Therese wrote to read the third edition of "Story of a Soul" translated by Fr. John Clarke, OCD, and published by ICS Publications in 1976. The Clarke translation, made from the unretouched manuscript written by Therese (an authentic manuscript published in French only in 1956), is recognized as the standard throughout the English-speaking world. No other translation compares to it. The book is enriched by an introduction, afterword, and easy-to-read notes that set Therese's manuscripts in the context of her life, and the index makes it even more useful. Whether you have not read "Story of a Soul" or have read only earlier English translations (Taylor, Knox, Beevers), the Clarke translation will open the world of Therese to you. Don't miss it. This book is about the differences between men and women and how it affects their relationship with each other. The concept is similar to many books out there but the author puts a slightly different spin on the principles by including scriptures when applicable and humor. The author, Mark Gungor, is a pastor at Celebration Church in Wisconsin, a motivational speaker, musician and CEO of Laugh Your Way America.
He includes real life experiences, both his personal experiences and experiences of those that he counsels or attend his seminars.

I will admit that the title is a bit misleading. I'm not sure what I was expecting; maybe how to laugh in your marriage and this book didn't provide that information. It did, however, provide a lot of insight into men and women and how they think or process information and how it will affect their spouse. It gave me a lot to think about when I request things from my husband and how he might act or react. Overall it is a good book and one that was an easy read.

There is a section in the book called Sex, Lies and the Internet that is directed towards men in particular. Sure men may read the whole book but he starts the chapter by welcoming the men and saying that if they are like most guys they flipped to this chapter first. I'd say that he is pretty accurate with that statement. Women will learn from this section too, so don't skip it!

There are a few quotes and passages that really struck me from this book and made me rethink how I view marriage whether it is my own or someone else's.

"...finding someone to journey with in marriage is the slenderest part of a life-long relational journey. Marriage is more about work than about divine luck, more about finding someone to love than about finding someone to meet your own laundry list of personal needs."

"Dare to believe marriage is good, that the one you are in is good. Dare to ask God to help you treasure it, appreciate it, and stay committed to it..."

I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking to strengthen his or her relationship or wants to ensure that it continues to be successful.
