Peek-a WHO? 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for my daughter at 18 mos based on the reviews. She loves books. This was an instant favorite. From the moment she picks it up she is smiling in anticipation of what is to come. She is now turning 2 this month and still it is her favorite book. She likes to fill in the blank for you when you read it to her. Peek-a...WHO, Peek-a...ZOO!, Peek-a...CHOO-CHOO! etc. This is really a cute book with great illustrations that my daughter likes to point to and discuss. It flows really well and the ending is just perfect, she bursts into laughter EVERY time. Well worth the money, you have to get this for your little one.

Editorial Review:

Nina Laden's illustrations in this simple, rhyming board book are truly magical. The format is straightforward: on alternating two-page spreads, the words "Peek a" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole, behind which lurks a cow ("MOO!"), a green ghost ("BOO!"), and a mirror (you guessed it, "YOU!"). The youngest readers will delight in trying to guess who--or what--is peeking through the window, and can easily grip the baby-fist-size holes to turn the pages for the answers. The picture of the "ZOO!" is fabulous. Through the hole, all that can be seen is a wild pattern of colors, stripes, and spots. Turn the page, and find a wild kingdom of animals, one in front of the other: peacock, zebra, penguin, cheetah, elephant, and more. Ready for more peekaboo fun? Try Nina Laden's Ready, Set, Go! . Favorite Book of All Time (So Far) 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 2-year-old daughter has had this book since she was 6 months old when Santa gave it to her in her stocking. She still LOVES it! The pages and flaps are a bit worn, so I'm buying another copy. It was the perfect size for her to hold when she was younger, she loved it when we made the animal sounds, and now she sits and reads it aloud. Every baby should have one!

Perfect for YOUR little ones! 5 out of 5 stars.

Sturdy, colorful and easy to wipe off - these little books are perfect for your little ones. Easy to handle for little fingers, easy for grandma's to read to little grandchildren. My five month old grandson Jonathon just loves these little books. They make great baby shower gifts too!

TINY book!! 2 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book just to get my purchase to qualify for free shipping. I was thinking it was going to be about the size of a standard book. This thing is TINY! It's only about 3". My kids do like it but its just so small.

Editorial Review:

Illustrated in full color. Open the barn door and take a tour around the barnyard to find out just who's making all those wonderful animal sounds.

Another simple, repetitive story for little ones! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Children like a repetitive structure because it helps them understand what's going on and predict what will happen next. (For that matter, adults like it too! Repetition is a crucial part of traditional storytelling and modern-day speechifying.)

This one is about a child who wrote to the zoo for a pet and, being a zoo, they sent him/her all manner of exotic, but unsuitable animals before finally hitting on a puppy. Each animal is hidden inside a box of some sort, that's where the flaps come in.

It's great fun (at least the first thousand times, then it's only a little fun) to lift the flaps and adlib some animal sounds to describe whatever's hiding. And, as a plus, the flaps on this book are actually fairly sturdy - we haven't had a rip yet, and we've had this book a few years.

Definitely a keeper.

Editorial Review:

Dear Zoo is twenty-five

years old -- and still as popular as ever!

And with an updated look, this children's classic

is sure to delight a new generation of readers!

Baby loves this! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I had low expectations for this book but my 6 month old loves this book. She giggles every time I lift one of the flaps!

Cute idea, but not sturdy enough for babies, 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I will say that my daughter did like this book. It's a "peek-a-boo" type book. The problem is that, of course, babies want to open and close the flaps themselves, and these flaps are thin, flimsy and hard for little baby fingers to get a hold of (and avoid ripping or curlling once they do). Many of our flaps are missing, but the kids still read this book from time to time.

It would be better if it was a little sturdier.

Child #2 loves it as well 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We are on child #2 with this book and both of my kids have requested it over and over and over and over. My youngest, 19 months, is 'reading' it to us. I found my 5 yr old reading it to the youngest one last night.

It is easy to understand, fun for the babies and easily read by my other kid. What could be better? Well, maybe a space age polymer that keeps the flaps on when an overzealous toddler continues to try and wrestle them off.

Editorial Review:

Where are Baby's hands?

Under the bubbles!

Where are baby's eyes?

Under her hat!

Karen Katz's adorable babies play peekaboo in this delightful interactive book. The sturdy format and easy-to-lift flaps are perfect for parents and children to share.

Daughter loves this book. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 21 month old LOVES this book- I have to read it to her at least 3 times A DAY right now. She's a bit obsessed- we're just starting to potty train and she loves pointing to the picture at bathtime and yelling "baby butt". And now she babbles when sitting on the potty. It's making the process fun!

cute book 4 out of 5 stars.

My daughter loves this book. My husband and I have read it over and over. I'm not sure how much closer we are to having her potty trained but it does have cute pictures and the words have a nice cadence to them.

My daughter's favorite potty book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is my daughter's favorite potty book. Of course, she's a huge fan of the other "Lift-the-Flap" books, so I have to say I'm not terribly surprised. However, it's also one of the books that I find it the most enjoyable to read of all her potty books also, which is great when you're reading it at least once a day. I do like the fact that the book hits upon the idea that learning to go potty is a marathon, not a sprint, and that there are bound to be missteps, but that's okay.

Editorial Review:

Mommy got me a brand new potty!

But I'm not ready yet!

I want to run and play.

Uh-oh, I peed in my pants.

But Mommy says, "That's okay!"

Children will love following along and lifting the flaps to see the child play, sit on thepotty, eat, sit on the potty, sleep, and then sit on the potty...until finally there is success.

Written from a child's point of view, this new potty-training book will help children join in the final refrain, "I'm so proud of me!"

We were quite surprised when we got this book - how beautiful and interesting the illustrations are! There are lots of tactical additions - black glitter on the baby's cat costume, etc. Very cute!

first favorite 5 out of 5 stars.

She doesn't get everything there is to enjoy about this book yet, but I've read this with my 7 week old daughter twice and both times she smiled through the whole thing. Must be all the sparkles and glitter!

Charming halloween board book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Just to add to the chorus of praises, if you have a toddler you really should buy this book. Our 14-month old loved it from the moment she opened the cover, and she has continued to come back to it as a favorite in the weeks since. The flaps are big and sturdy so she can get ahold of them herself, and she loves the different pictures and textures. From my perspective, the illustrations are charming and really capture the excitement of halloween for a small child, so I like looking through it too. Brava to Karen Katz for a wonderful book!

Editorial Review:

It's Halloween, but Baby can't go trick-or-treating until she finds her special pumpkin! Lift the flaps to reveal sparkly, spooky surprises, and join Baby as she gets ready for a fun-filled, hide-and-seek, touch-and-feel adventure.

Great Book for Tots 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My son LOVED this book when he was about 2. It was a favorite and I read it to him too many times to count for a couple of years. I like to give this book as a gift. My godson (20 months) "reads" it every day. He loves to open the flaps and count. And of course, he's a huge Elmo fan. Highly recommended!

Editorial Review:

Count to 10, explore the alphabet, discover shapes, learn about opposites, and find the missing teddy bear in this big, colorful board book. Sesame Street's beloved Elmo guides young readers to lift more than 60 flaps to reveal humorous and edifying surprises. Over the word "dry," Grover gazes unsuspectingly into a garden hose. Turn the flap and guess what happens! Grover learns all about "wet." A towering pyramid of alphabet blocks contains objects starting with the same letter behind each flap: alligator, book, cookies. Large, sturdy flaps allow rough-tough toddler hands to clutch and pull as much as they want with minimal risk of tearing. Children will adore the bright, bold illustrations of Jim Henson's familiar Muppet characters and beg to return to this book again and again. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

Cute and fun 4 out of 5 stars.

My son LOVES peek-a-boo and this is a fun book. My only concern is the durability of the flaps due to the weight of the paper used, especially in combination with the size and location of some. We'll have fun with it though.

Great Book! 5 out of 5 stars.

My son has loved these flip books since he was 3 months old and he is now 1 year old and still loves them!

Great Books 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter loves lift-a-flap books, and Karen Katz's are great. She has really enjoyed reading this new book which thankfully has replaced reading Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs? every day.

Editorial Review:

It's Baby's birthday, but where is his cake? Little ones will love lifting the large, sturdy flaps to find Baby's birthday cake in this new Karen Katz board book. Children will discover sparkly foil objects under each flap until they finally find Baby's yummy, shimmery birthday cake on the final page of this adorable new title.

Editorial Review:

Karen Katz whips together another fun, colorful lift-the-flap adventure, in the form of a wee home-improvement project between a father and child.

Displaying the same cheerful delivery and bright artwork that Katz used in Where Is Baby's Belly Button? and Toes, Ears, and Nose!, Daddy and Me tells its tale with a simple setup and sturdy flaps to lift on each two-page spread: "I'm helping Dad make something special. First we saw the wood. Where is Daddy's saw?" Two easy-to-grab flaps open to reveal that Daddy's saw is "In the... closet." Pencils, nails, screwdrivers, and a paintbrush are likewise hiding out around the shop, and it's up to Daddy's cherubic, gender-indeterminate little helper to track them down--with some help from the reader, of course, lifting up work gloves, a tool box lid, some paint cans, and a newspaper.

We finally find out what project Daddy had planned (which also explains why a cute chestnut puppy has been helping the helper all along): "At last we are finished. We made a doghouse for Henry! But where is Henry?" Readers get to lift one more flap to find out. (Baby to preschool) --Paul Hughes

Not just for Thanksgiving? 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book on sale and planned to save it for Thanksgiving. My five month old son loved it so it is one we read a lot now. This board book has five "feathers" that make that crinkle sound babies love. I didn't give it five stars because ideally it would have a better coating around the feathers to protect it a little more from all the chewing it is forced to endure.

Adorable 5 out of 5 stars.

What a sweet little counting book for Thanksgiving! The fabric tail feathers make it a "must touch" book for children.

Awesome Turkey book 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this for my daughter's first Thanksgiving. She loved it. The feathers are great for her to pull and chew on. This story is a cute, fun little ditty.

Editorial Review:

Toddlers will love the silly Thanksgiving turkeys in this fun counting book full of silly turkeys doing very silly things! From twirling on a dance floor to being chased by a bee to tanning in the sun, these are no ordinary Thanksgiving turkeys. And at just $5.99, this shiny fabric–tabbed book is a holiday treat that is sure to be gobbled up quickly.
