Disappointing!! This book has no words! 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I was very disappointed with this book. Unfortunately I purchased "Waiting for Baby" in the same order but have not received it yet. The product description does not state that it is only a picture book.

wondeful book for toddlers 5 out of 5 stars.

Our 27 month old son loves this book and its companion, "Waiting for Baby" by the same author. We talk about what's going on in the pictures and he's always noticing new things, even after repeated readings. I like this book because it presents the introduction of a new baby as a natural, happy event. The mom is pictured breastfeeding not once, but twice and the dad is shown changing diapers, dressing the baby, strapping on a baby carrier and cooking dinner. It is rare to find a book which depicts both parents so actively engaging in the the care of a newborn. And the illustrations are just gentle and sweet too. Great little books for anyone with a young child.

Editorial Review:

This is a story without words which follows the new baby brother or sister, from meeting the family and changing the nappy to playing and bathing.

cute story but not best for getting ready for new baby 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for my 19 month old to begin to ready her for the arrival of her little sister. When reading past reviews I figured out that the story had no text printed. I decided to purchase anyway thinking it would be easy to make up our own story. The book is cute and pretty easy to compose your own story but would be better with SOME text. The pictures take you through what mom and big brother and dad do to get ready for new baby. Nice concept but could use some text.

great book 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book. It is an illustrated book, with no words, so you can make up the story yourself using your family's names. It goes through a lot of the transitions of pregnancy to having a baby, like getting the room and crib ready and visiting the doctor. Great gender neutral book as well. I am very pleased with this book.

Editorial Review:

Waiting for Baby is a story without words which follows the forthcoming birth of the new baby brother/sister, from the scan and buying new toys to decorating the playroom and visiting mum in hospital.

Perfect birthday gift for a new baby 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a lovely gift for a new baby (forget the layette items, people get too many anyway!) - this and On the Night You Were Born are the books I send to all the new people I know. The sentiment in this book is perfect. In the prose-like text of this book, the little one is welcomed by the earth - the pictures are bold and fun to look at. I love it.

The Little One Enjoys It...Me, Not So Much 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 3 people found this review helpful.

My 1 yr old son enjoys having this read to him; however, my tongue doesn't. I find this book miserable to read. Unlike other books which tend to have more rhyme and rhythm, this one just has waaaaaaay too many adjectives and I find myself stumbling over the long sentences. Sometimes I even leave a few words out!

You may argue that it's the message that really counts (albiet this book tends to be a little mushy about it), but at the end of day, after having had my patience tried more times than I'd like to think, having to plow through this book is the last thing I want to do.

The illustrations are wonderful and my son DOES enjoy the book, and so I give it three stars for that.

Editorial Review:

Debra Frasier's On the Day You Were Born has been loved by more than a million families since its publication ten years ago. Now parents can extend the celebration of their child's birth with this easy-to-use photo journal inspired by that modern classic. By simply adding eight photographs, a few details--and a lot of love--they can create a wonderful book to read with their child about their first day together.

Editorial Review:

From the expert team behind IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL and IT'S SO AMAZING! comes a book for younger children about their bodies — a resource that parents, teachers, librarians, health care providers, and clergy can use with ease and confidence.

Young children are curious about almost everything, especially their
bodies. And young children are not afraid to ask questions. What makes
me a girl? What makes me a boy? Why are some parts of girls' and boys'
bodies the same and why are some parts different? How was I made?
Where do babies come from? Is it true that a stork brings babies to
mommies and daddies?

IT'S NOT THE STORK! helps answer these endless and perfectly normal questions that preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary school children ask about how they began. Through lively, comfortable language and sensitive, engaging artwork, Robie H. Harris and Michael Emberley
address readers in a reassuring way, mindful of a child's healthy desire
for straightforward information. Two irresistible cartoon characters, a
curious bird and a squeamish bee, provide comic relief and give voice to
the full range of emotions and reactions children may experience while
learning about their amazing bodies. Vetted and approved by science,
health, and child development experts, the information is up-to-date,
age-appropriate, and scientifically accurate, and always aimed at helping
kids feel proud, knowledgeable, and comfortable about their own bodies,
about how they were born, and about the family they are part of.

Loved by my 10 Month Old 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We bought this book when my daughter was 4 months old, but it is only recently that she started picking it out for me to read to her. She laughs at the different baby faces, especially the boy sticking his tongue out, and it is one book that she wants to look at over and over. I love how diverse the book is, and the message is great. It would be a nice book for those doing an international adoption. Two pacifiers up!

We love these babies! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Even though I have read this book over and over and over again to my granddaughter throughout her first year of life, I always love looking at the beautiful babies from around the world. Babies in colorful clothing from such countries as Mali, Afghanistan, Iraq, Spain, Peru, Guatemala, South Africa, and India, delight the readers each time the book is opened. This is a great way to travel the world while sitting in a chair snuggling with baby.

Editorial Review:

Seventeen cultures, seventeen gorgeous babies. Appealing color photographs depict diverse traditions and showcase clothing worn by babies from around the world. A simple narrative helps demonstrate that no matter how different babies appear, they are all very much alike -- nurtured and loved by those who care for them.

Great book! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

My daughter LOVES this book, when I first got it for her, she did not seem to care too much. But, now, she brings it to me all the time to look at the baby and animal faces. She likes pointing out things, like tongues sticking out, etc. Highly recommend.

Amazing photos and quality! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is beautifully done!! It is so simple and yet so impactful for our little one - he loves staring at it and reaching out for the babies and animals. The colors are great and the photos are priceless. One of my favorite baby book purchases from Amazon.com!!

Wonderful book 5 out of 5 stars.

LOVE IT!! My baby boy loves this book. He stares at the pictures all the time and loves turning the pages. This is perfect for babies since it has pictures of all sorts of animals and and other babies.

Editorial Review:

With these striking and adorable photographs, Vicky Ceelen cleverly captures the similiarities between human and animal babies. From a sleeping baby alongside a snoozing kitten to a teetering toddler and a wobbly duckling, Ceelen’s comparisons are striking. Bright photos paired with simple text make this board book perfect for human babies everywhere!

Good but wordy 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a good book, but very wordy for young children. It explains things well, but you might have to skip a lot of the words and just describe the pictures.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN BABY COMES HOME 3 out of 5 stars.

THIS BOOK WAS A LITTLE TOO OLD FOR MY TODDLER GRANDSON TO UNDERSTAND. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE DONE IN A YOUNGER VERSION OF BABY WILL CRY AND YOU WILL SEE MOMMY AND DADDY PICK IT UP AND FEED OR CHANGE IT AND YOU CAN HELP, ETC. IT WAS TOO TECHNICAL TO ENJOY FOR A TODDLER.

Terrific! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This a a SUPER choice for little ones preparing to become older siblings. Although somewhat detailed with regard to "mommy's womb", "umbilical cord" and "baby's development" still enthralling to my 3 year old. She LOVES this book.

The art is great and the book helps the little one to feel like they can really play a special part in the new baby's life. It even focuses on nursing and the benefits behind it. Good for you Lizzy Rockwell!

I highly recommend this one. The best I have found. There are not many choices out there unfortunately.

One of our favorites! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We have a lot of new baby books, and this was one of our favorites. It gives a lot of information without being overwhelming. It also does not introduce the negative side of siblings. I didn't want to put ideas into our son's head before the baby came. I figured he'd discover the negatives on his own and we could find books to address them later, if needed. Our son was 27 months when his sister was born and we read this for a few months before that. I think it helped, and he's adjusted quite well. We've bought it for a few friends having a second child too. Highly recommended!

the best for new babies 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I discovered this book when a friend of mine had a new baby. Since that time, I have given this book as a baby shower gift and/or a new baby gift. It's great to also read to a toddler who might have become a big sister or big brother.

A Favorite! Shows happy families of all kinds! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We love this book and we especially like the way all kinds of families are portrayed in it. Loving families come in all configurations and the beautiful illustrations show that so well. We like to give this book to new adoptive parents but it is a nice choice for any family with a toddler! Charming!

My favorite baby book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Of all of the books that my son owns, this one is my favorite. The pictures are so cute and detailed. We notice something new everytime we read it. For the first few months of reading this book, I couldn't read the last 3 pages without choking up because it is so sweet. I find it interesting that people are offended by the same-sex couples. I didn't even notice them until we had owned the book for a year, and even then, it just made me like the book even more. My son is growing up in a diverse world, and I think it's good for him to be exposed to this diversity from the start. That way, when he encounters such diversity, it might not seem different to him at all. Besides, babies are born completely open-minded; it's their parents who close their minds for them!

Editorial Review:

Every day, everywhere, babies are born. They're kissed and dressed and rocked and fed--and completely adored by the families who love them. With an irresistible rhyming text and delightfully endearing illustrations, here is an exuberant celebration of playing, sleeping, crawling, and of course, very noisy babies doing all the wonderful things babies do best.
