Great book to give to every new parent 5 out of 5 stars.

This book tells the story of the 'circle of love'. It really touches your heart when you read how the mother took care of her little boy and when she became frail, the grown up son took care of her. Wonderful gift to give a new parent.

Love You, Forever 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a classic and a must have for all home libraries. It is a great gift for the new mom, parents of toddlers, or even a gift for your own mom or grandmom. Robert N. Munsch goes full circle with this book. Try it, you'll like it.

Lovely for Parents, Fine for Children ca. 4 and Up 5 out of 5 stars.

Like others, I choke up with tears every single time I read this, but I also don't think it's truly appropriate for very young children who still don't understand death or have a developed sense of time. I would think this would be appropriate for ages 4-5 and up.

That said, I think some of the complaints are misguided: they are missing the story's innocence and the veiled humor in the persistence of the mother. I also think that at some point even children have to learn about death, and what better way than through the story of a mother that loves her child no matter what?

However, I want to add another angle: the repetition of the main "chorus" "I'll love you forever, I'll love you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be." As musicians, my wife and I sing these lines to our son, and the repetition of these lines is heightened when sung. You don't have to be an opera diva or even sing in tune, but if you're musically inclined even a little bit, try softly singing it to these pitches (transposed up or down, one note per syllable):

I'll love you forever, I'll love you for aways, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.
G-C-D-E-E-D, A-D-E-F-F-D, B-B-C-D-D-B, B-C-D-E-C.

Crazy idea? Maybe, but it makes singing these repeated lines touching rather than boring.

All in all, I absolutely love this book and think it's innocence and presentation of the continuity of life through the love parents have for their children transcends any strange implications others are reading into it.

Editorial Review:

A young woman holds her newborn son and looks at him lovingly. Softly she sings to him "I'll love you forever, /I'll like you for always/ As long as I'm living/my baby you'll be".This is the story of how that little boy goes through the stages of childhood and becomes a man.

Purchased two of these books to give as gifts to grandchildren. Arrived in a timely manner. Only wished the book was a little larger in size. The mothers were very happy with the activities and anxious to participate with their daughters - interesting and fun "stuff" to do. Would highly recommend this activity book.

I bought two of these books...one for my 8 year old daughter and one for my 11 year old daughter. I plan to give them the books for Christmas. I am really looking forward to "doing" the books with them. What a great idea!

Editorial Review:

This book is full of fun things for girls to do with their moms, from the new to the tried and true. They can tear out and share the notes and gift coupons, test their knowledge of each other with checklists made for two, and get to know each other even better with games and activities that are sure to leave them giggling. Tear-outs include quizzes, checklists, recipes, door hangers, bookmarks, notes, coupons, a photo frame, leaves for a family tree, CD case covers, and more.

Adorable, interactive books! 5 out of 5 stars.

My 9-month-old loves these books! The flaps make them interactive and the illustrations are very colorful. Also, there are a variety of nationalities included. I highly recommend them (but be sure to supervise since it would be easy to bend or tear the flaps).

PERFECT FOR BUSY & TOUGH BOYS! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have a 1 year old son who, until these books, would NEVER sit still long enough for me to read to him. I got one of these books for him ("where is baby's belly button") about 3 months ago, and he LOVED IT! The pages are cardboard, so he can't rip the pages out (which he normally does). The "flip-ups" are made of a thick paper so it's rather difficult for him to rip those out, as well. The can be ripped out, especially by rough & tumble boys like mine, but it takes some effort on their part, which is good considering other books get domolished in seconds. Anyway, after about 3 months, the flip-ups of the 1st book were mostly ripped out, but he LOVES that book, so I ordered the set of 3 books. Now, the flip-ups don't get ripped out (maybe one or two total of all 3 books), especially since my son is a little older now, and he now loves all 3 books. This is a GREAT product!

Porno for Kids 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I checked out this book for my 17 year old son who was writing a paper on puberty. Most of the text content is great but the pictures are pornographic cartoons. I also have an 11 year old son and was planning on letting him read it. Once I reviewed it, it went straight into my car to be returned to the library. As far as the text goes, most of it was pretty informative and well written for the preteen age group but there were also plenty of references (with lots of pictures) of masturbation, homosexuality, etc. that were way too graphic for anyone under the age of 16 years. Fair warning here: don't buy it for any innocent kids especially ones that don't know anything at all!

Editorial Review:

When children wonder about sex, where will they go for the answers? Providing accurate, lucid, unbiased answers to nearly every conceivable question children may have about sexuality, IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL is here to help. From conception and puberty to birth control and AIDS, it is a refreshingly open and thorough presentation of the facts of sex—both biological and psychological—which children need now more than ever. Throughout, two cartoon characters, a curious bird, and a squeamish bee reflect the diverse feelings children often have about sex. Packed with warm, age-appropriate illustrations, often humorous but always scientifically correct, IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL offers children the reassurance that the changes and emotions they experience while growing up are perfectly normal.

The Secret Knowledge of Grown-Ups 5 out of 5 stars.

Top Secret Files Revealed! 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

An adult has done the unthinkable! Broken the secret adult pact and published confidential files telling kids the truth about various rules we adults have passed onto them under the misconception that these rules were for their own good. David Wisniewski reveals the truth that the real reason we eat vegetables is to keep them in their place so they do not take over the world and eat us, instead of the lies we tell that vegetables are good for you. Other secrets he reveals include the reason why grown ups say drink plenty of milk, that combing your hair is not to keep it neat, why you shouldn't blow bubbles in your milk, why you shouldn't play with your food, why you shouldn't jump on your bed, why you shouldn't bite your fingernails and why you shouldn't pick your nose.

This book has been published with great illustrations made from cutting little bits of paper and gluing them into very detailed pictures. The only thing that lets this book down for kids and thankfully saves us adults is that there are only a few myths unveiled. This of course makes it extremely likely that David Wisniewski will release a sequel but you'd think if he had the secrets he could have made this book a bit thicker and included them in the one book. As an adult I can only say that I hope the book is so thin because these are the only confidential files he has managed to steal. Wait a minute he is an adult isn't he? So why does he even need the files since he already knows the answers. I predict Mr Wisniewski's motives are not just to publish the truth for kids but to make money along the way and that this is the first in a planned series of sequels. I enjoyed this enough that I'll check them out as well.

Editorial Review:

Parents are always spouting these rules. Do they really care about nutrients and mattresses, or are they hiding something? Luckily, one fearless grown–up will risk his neck and his dignity to find out. Disguised as everything from a chocolate milk scuba diver to a giant nose, this counterspy uncovers the disturbing truth. And what he learns will shock you like nothing before. Startling suckface emergencies! Dangerous digit gangs! Powerful sumo cells! Those are just some of the secrets revealed in this book by Caldecott medalist David Wisniewski. But don't let anyone catch you reading it–especially grown–ups. Who knows what could happen if they knew that you knew?

Great way for parents to reinforce 123 magic! 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

As a mental health provider, I believe this can be a great way to train parents to really teach their children the 123 way. I love the section where it addresses how they might get around the system and cuts them off from the start.

Editorial Review:

By presenting the popular 1-2-3 Magic parenting program from a child’s point of view, this innovative guide provides kids with a thorough understanding of the disciplinary system—from the counting and time-out methods parents will be using to how better behavior benefits the entire family and leaves more time for play. Storytelling portions are coupled with copious illustrations to help describe the basic tenets of 1-2-3 Magic—such as positive reinforcement, charting, and the docking system—while a question-and-answer section outlines common situations, including What if I don’t go to my room? Will I still be counted if I have a friend over? and What kinds of things can we do for one-on-one fun? Crossword puzzles, word searches, and journal suggestions further encourage children to apply what they’ve learned about the methods.

The illustrations on this is very mediocre. If you're looking for a children's book, try pop-up ones, they're almost always beautifully illustrated. I suggest the pop-up version of The Snowmen.

I do like Katz's books. 4 out of 5 stars.

I really like her cute artwork, and I like her direct way of writing to little kids. It works very well for them.

I do want to say, though, that this book is not very strongly constructed, which seems a terrible error, given the age range! Keep it on a high shelf, definitely. It's a book to be read with supervision.

Stimulating interest in children is key to potty training success. Positive reinforcement gives children pride and a sense of self-accomplishment. The third edition of this book has been completely revised with 126 glossy stickers to catch children s attention. Motivate and reward children using the 126 stickers. Stickers are circles of one inch in diameter and each sticker has an image of different potty related subjects - no repetition. You will find stickers with soap and towels (as reminders to wash hands), toilet rolls, a variety of potty chairs, cute motivational sayings like "You can do it!" and more. Many stickers even have toddler boys for children to imitate. The yellow chart included opens up to hang like a calendar. After successful potty attempts, children are rewarded with a sticker to place on the chart provided. How "Children's Letters to God" has affected me 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I discovered this book a few years ago and feel blessed to have done so. As I was standing in a spiritual bookstore, I was drawn to this book. I began reading the touching things children were feeling in relation to God. I turned the page and my heart stopped as if I had just seen a photo of myself. What I did in fact see was my very own printing, and what I read was something that I wrote back in elementary school. I rushed to show my best friend who didn't quite understand my state of near hyperventilation and the tears in my eyes. She said, "So? Someone else shares your 'rare' name, big deal." I went on try and explain and in the process bought the book on the spot. It now sits on my bookshelf and I am still amazed at finding a piece of my youth and my feelings on God published. I have tried to piece the story together and to the best of my recollection, I have come up with this: my grade 4 teacher used to get us to write on deep thought provoking topics. She used to be very keen on submitting work of favoured students to various contests and the like. She must have submitted this somewhere and somehow it made it in the book. Those skeptical of my unknowing "contribution" to the book, were silenced when I provided my grade 4 science tests and the printing matched to a 'T'. In addition, anyone who knows me, knows that what I said way back when I was 8 or 9, still rings true 20 (wow) years later: "Dear God I don't ever feel alone since I found out about you." Nora *sigh*, it was truly by the Grace of God that I discovered this book. Reading here in these posts that a Rabbi quoted my writing, shows me that some things withstand the test of time. Beautiful. As another reviewer wrote, I too wish that there were more pieces of information about the children and/or the demographics of where these letters were obtained. To answer her what I do know: No, they were not all from the US as I am from Canada, and they were not all from a church or synagogue as mine was written in a public school. It would be amazing if all of us, who "wrote" letters to God when we were children, could be made aware of our contribution to books such as these. Hopefully, if there are other such books out there (I believe there are but have yet to seek them out), the publishers will make the children/their parents aware of their small contribution, so that they can knowingly treasure such books for years to come. So to all of those considering buying this book, just know that these letters were written by the true innocence of children at some point in their lives. God Bless! Love always, Nora.

Editorial Review:

In 1966, a small unhearalded volume appeared in bookstores throughout the U.S.--and before the year was out over 500,000 copies of Children's Letters to God were in print. Today a new generation can discover all the unexpected pleasures and provocations of what happens when children under ten decide to send a letter off to God. Full-color illustrations throughout.
