"The wheels on the bus go round and round.... All over town." This traditional song, a favorite of children everywhere, is adapted and illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky, winner of the Caldecott Medal for his lush version of Rapunzel, and Caldecott honors for Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, and Swamp Angel. Fantastic paper engineering with movable parts, flaps, and wheels that spin makes this an interactive book that young readers will love to pieces (maybe literally!). Pull one tab to make the "wipers on the bus go swish swish swish," and another to see the "babies on the bus cry Waah! Waah! Waah!" On closer inspection, children will be tickled to discover several subtle and humorous subplots, as well as a full-circle finale: the last stop on the bus is at the Overtown public library, where the day's program includes a folk singer. Guess what he's singing!

Zelinsky's warm, inviting illustrations are a perfect match for this classic play rhyme. Children who have learned the hand motions to the song will enjoy helping the characters in the book enact their own roles. Revenge of the Wannabees is a well written story that is fun, but cleverly educational about the relationship between 5 girls in a special cliuque that they formed at OCD middle school. This book is an interpersonal relationship fiction novel that shows teenage girls how to avoid fighting between Cliques. I believe that this novel has outdone both the other Clique novels. This book dives deep into the plot exposing the 5 girls true charectoristics and allow them to I would rate this book 4 out 5 stars because this is due to the way it shws how cliques really do act and how to avoid making fights with difficult groups of people. This book would be appropriate for anyone who has read and enjoyed any other books by Lisi Harrison and also for any teenage girls even though they may not be as popular or where as much designer clothes as other girls.

"Once upon a time there was a Little House way out in the country. She was a pretty Little House and she was strong and well built." So begins Virginia Lee Burton's classic The Little House, winner of the prestigious Caldecott Medal in 1943. The rosy-pink Little House, on a hill surrounded by apple trees, watches the days go, by from the first apple blossoms in the spring through the winter snows. Always faintly aware of the city's distant lights, she starts to notice the city encroaching on her bucolic existence. First a road appears, which brings horseless carriages and then trucks and steamrollers. Before long, more roads, bigger homes, apartment buildings, stores, and garages surround the Little House. Her family moves out and she finds herself alone in the middle of the city, where the artificial lights are so bright that the Little House can no longer see the sun or the moon. She often dreams of "the field of daisies and the apple trees dancing in the moonlight." Children will be saddened to see the lonely, claustrophobic, dilapidated house, but when a woman recognizes her and whisks her back to the country where she belongs, they will rejoice. Young readers are more likely to be drawn in by the whimsical, detailed drawings and the happy ending than by anything Burton might have been implying about the troubling effects of urbanization. What can be more irritating than having someone take your boyfriend or your biggest crush ever? The book, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, by Lisi Harrison is about four girls who are best friends, including Claire, who just has entered the group of the clique girls and is becoming best friends with Massie, the leader of the group. This friendship causes a lot of jealousy between the girls but that is not the only problem that Massie, Alicia, Kristen, Dylan, and Claire are anticipating. The real problem is when Nina, Alicia's cousin from Spain, comes in the OCD School and is suddenly the most popular girl in the school. She takes their crushes somehow with a very smart plan that nobody can figure out.
I really enjoyed this book because once I started reading it, especially in the part where the girls start to plan something on how to destroy Nina, I couldn't stop. Through this book you will discover who you are in the inside. Maybe unsure of yourself; you can find out what a great person you can be when you are a nice and caring person. That is something that Massie, one of the characters, finds out. If you have a little hidden love in your school or somewhere in your neighborhood this book will give you tons of ideas on how to get him and if someone is in your way it'll have the perfect plan to destroy that little person. This book also gives you ideas about how to be a superb friend because it teaches all the clique girls how to be good friends. This is something that happens in real life and girls have to go through with lots of difficulties in the way that affects their lives. For example they might not want to go to school because they have the whole entire school mad at them so they become frightened. If you are one of them, don't worry. This book is your solution.
The moral of the story is that you have to have a good relationship with your friends so that when someone tries to come and tear down your friendship, you and your friends can be ready and deal with the problem without destroying your relationship. I would highly recommend this book to all the girls in the world that enjoy and are interested in friendship and love. Will the clique girls succeed in their plan to destroy Nina, have their biggest crushes ready to win the Valentine's Cupid Award, and have their first romaaaaaaaaantic kiss? Read this book and find out!

Deep in the heart of most people who celebrate Christmas lurks the archetypal
holiday, the one depicted nostalgically in Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory," and
Dylan Thomas's "A Child's Christmas in Wales."
In the archetype, ritual is important, family and friends are important, snow is
good, and a tangerine in a stocking is enough to inspire oohs and ahs of delight.
"Christmas in the Country" is a worthy addition to the genre.
In it, our pony-tailed heroine lives in the country with Grandma and Grandpa in a
house that is "small and white. It had an old coal stove to keep us warm and a tiny little
kitchen for supper and a nice back porch for the dogs."
In the country, spring is for walks, summer for tomatoes, and fall for apples. In
winter, "The snow slows everything down. Birds are silent and serious. Dogs stay in their
warm houses. Children want cocoa and blankets. Everyone is ready for something really
special."
And - hooray - the something special has nothing to do with the mall or even
Wal-mart. Instead Grandpa will cut the tree in the forest, and the narrator and Grandma
will take the precious old ornaments from the closet that "smells like wool and mothballs."
Diane Goode's illustrations are just right - simple and energetic. Everyone's hair is
windblown at all times, as if country folk have better things to do than spray, mousse or
pin.

Thomas is our 2-yr old son's favorite thing right now so we got him a new Thomas book. "Wave Hello to Thomas" is a very simple book with nice pictures and fun flaps. After just a few weeks he has memorized the book and will sit happily "reading" and lifting the flaps. He even takes the book to bed with him.

The illustrations are interesting and lend themselve to questions and answers. The flaps are large and sturdy, and opening one actually changes the action in the picture.

My two year old grandson is totally in love with trains, especially Thomas and friends. He loves anything with trains. This was a perfect fit for him.

I purchased this book for my new gransdon to start a collection of the classic stories. I feel that it's important to read to a child, I read all types of books to my kids. This one will teach all about animals and what each one looks like, then as he gets older he will be able to recognize them when he sees them.

Everybody knows Old MacDonald Had a Farm, and this Little Golden Book tells it with wonderful, educational illustrations that will most definitely put a smile on a young child's face!

This is a classic, and belongs in your child's library.

My grandchildren love this book. The illustrations are almost full-page, are colorful and cleverly drawn; also, the words are exactly the ones I learned as a small child and taught to my children and grandchildren. The last page even contains the musical notes.

I read this to our son, sadly, after he "out grew" these books, they were passed on. Happily, after searching all over I found these treasures on Amazon and now have a new collection for our beautiful grand daughter to enjoy.
