The long-running Hank the Cowdog series continues with another new installment!

But when Hank’s doggie urges have him chomping on plastic—including Little Alfred’s toy truck—Hank knows he’s got to get things under control. Then Beulah—the long-eared lady dog of his dreams—shows up at the ranch, and Hank is thrilled. At last, he thinks, she’s finally given up her infatuation with Plato the Bird Dog. But it turns out that Plato is missing, and Beulah wants Hank to help find him. Can he put his doggie dreams aside and do the right thing? And will hunting for Plato help with his chewing problem? It’s all in a day’s work for everyone’s favorite Head of Ranch Security!

I want to read more about Caroline Ingalls. 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this book at Barnes & Noble, and I'm so glad that I did-this book was so wonderful, from beginning to end! I had to read it two times, and I'm planning to read it again a third time this weekend. This is the Caroline Ingalls we all know and love. I want to get more books about her. This book has also interested me in learning more about pioneer life in the 19th century. I won't tell you about what happens, but get this book-you won't be disappointed! Totally recommended!

Editorial Review:

Just after Caroline Quiner starts teaching at the Concord School, she runs into her fiddle-playing neighbor Charles Ingalls, who's full of plans to head out west. As their friendship turns to courtship, Caroline realizes that she has a difficult decision ahead of her -- and a choice that may mean leaving behind her family and everything she's ever known.

A Little House of Their Own is the seventh and final book in the Caroline Years series, and brings the story right up to where Little House began -- to Laura.

Apple Tree Christmas a beautiful tale for all seasons 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

In Apple Tree Christmas, Trinka Hakes Noble gives us a glimpse into her own childhood, although the setting is a Midwestern farm in 1881. Katrina is a budding artist, whose favorite "studio" is the old apple tree. Here she gets her best ideas and dreams of the future. After a blizzard/ice storm, the apple tree is no longer standing. Katrina can't believe that Father and Mother are happy to use its old branches for firewood. Nothing seems right anymore, and even Christmas doesn't feel happy. But Christmas morning brings a surprise for our young artist. Mrs. Noble's illustrations are lovely, filled with much detail of life before the turn of the century -- life without all of our modern conveniences. Be sure to add this book to your collection!

Editorial Review:

Originally published over twenty years ago, and out of print since 1998, Sleeping Bear Press is proud to bring this beloved Christmas tale to a whole new audience. Moving and nostalgic, and brought to life by glowing watercolor paintings, it reveals the joy of a very special present and the love that a father and daughter share.

Fantastic 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a wonderful book - characters, story, moral etc. It is a book I would highly recommend to anyone, young or old. A good book to read as a bedtime story to your children or grandchildren. I wish I had read it when I was young.

A long journey! 5 out of 5 stars.

Blue Willow is the perfect book to jump start a young girl to read, instead of watching TV. Even though this book was written over sixty years ago. The struggles Janey had are not any different then many girl's of today. It is how she deals with these over whelming problems that will teach young girl's a valueable lesson. I have purchased a book for my eleven year old granddaughter to read.
After reading Blue Willow when I was in elementary school.I never forgot Janey , her hardship's and fell in love with Blue Willow dishes.
I hope you enjoy Blue Willow also.

Editorial Review:

A little girl, who wants most of all to have a real home and to go to a regular school, hopes that the valley her family has come to, which so resembles the pattern on her treasured blue willow plate, will be their permanent home.

Lady's Big Surprise, big on entertainment and learning 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I sent this book to my neice as a Christmas present. She isn't one to like reading but she finished this book and re-read it several times. After I read it, I understood why. The author created believable characters and situations that children AND adults can identify with. There's a terrific glossary of terms in the back of the book for people who have never been on a horse. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Get this book it is the best ever!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This Book's no Turkey! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Kathleen Karr hit a homer when she penned this story for kids. The Great Turkey Walk is fiction, but based on actual occurences from the old west. When a very slow student finally gets his walking papers, he enters into an enterprise nobody else would have ever considered. The enterprise? Herding Turkeys to the Gold rush of Denver! His slow and difficult trip brings many adventures his way. He meets his long lost father, who desparately tries to steal his turkeys. He is surrounded by Indians. He meets a half crazed girl who becomes the love of his life. In the end, the dumb boy turns out to be smarter than he even thought he could be. It is a delight and my kids loved the book. Yours will too!

Editorial Review:

Yeeeeeee-haw! Git along, little . . . turkeys?Big, brawny Simon Green, who's just completed third grade (for the fourth time), may not be book smart, but he's nobody's fool. When it's time to be done with school and make his way in the world, Simon hatches a plan that could earn him a bundle. He intends to herd a huge flock of bronze turkeysall the way from his home in eastern Missouri to the boomtown of Denver, where they'll fetch a mighty price. In the year 1860, the hazards of such a trek are many - how does one shepherd the birds across a river, for instance? - but Simon is undaunted. Accompanied by a faithful drover, and eventually to be joined by two boon companions, he undertakes the biggest journey of his young life, in this high-spirited Wild Wild West adventure by an acclaimed author of historical fiction.

A Trip Down Memory Lane 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 11 people found this review helpful.

I am the mother of a two year old daughter and was delighted to find the magic of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books captured in a format that is perfect for small children. As a child, I became fascinated with the adventures of Laura, Mary and their baby sister Carrie. Prairie Day is a synopsis of the Little House on the Prairie book. With vivid drawings that have been inspired by the artwork on the original covers by Garth Williams, Renee Graef manages to convey the story in pictures that have captured the imagination of my daughter. I look forward to sharing with her the original books in the future, but meanwhile we will continue to enjoy the series of books that Prairie Day is a part of.

Editorial Review:

Join Laura and her family on their journey across the flat Kansas prairie. There are gophers and rabbits to play with in the daytime, and a cozy camp awaits at night. Renée Graef's enchanting full-color illustrations, inspired by Garth Williams' classic artwork, bring Laura and her family lovingly to life in this ninth title in the My First Little House Books series, picture books adapted from Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved storybooks.

Great 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

According to the grandchildren 10 & 13 the characters are delightful and draws you into picturing the situation in your mind. Thank goodness the author who is also the narrator is terrific and is in full stride for enjoyable listening. The tones and inflections easily identify the characters. I purchased a sequence of books that was read by somebody other than the author and then this particular author decided to be her own narrator and believe you me it sure destroyed the stories. Stay with what works.

Typical Hank story 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This Hank story is standard Hank fare, with a slight retread of previous scrapes, but still enjoyable. The antics of the humans are as funny as ever, with Loper and Slim sparring and blowing up ranch equipment and so forth. The story line doesn't move as far or as fast as several other Hank books, but it is still a pleasant outing with the Hank crew.

Editorial Review:

There’s never a dull moment when Hank the Cowdog is around. In this next installment to the long-running series, Hank gets the ride of his life when Slim’s pickup truck breaks down and they end up with a brand-new model on loan while the old one gets fixed. But a ranch dog like Hank isn’t used to power windows and door locks, and he manages to get himself in a whole heap of trouble with just one push of a button! Will Hank be able to find a way out of this latest mess?

Pop Up Heaven! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a favorite of my 15 month old. He has had this book since he was about 6 months old and has enjoyed it since the start. All the Snappy books are fantastic and we have most of them. Snappy Farm Animals is colorful and simple to read. Babies love the colors and the animals. The farm starts out nosiy and slowly calms down as the animals go to sleep and the farmer waves goodbye.

BOTH OF MY KIDS LOVE THIS BOOK! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My kids are 2 1/2 and 1yr. They love it! It's a really cute, simple, rhyming pop-up book that teaches the sounds that animals make. They're excited everytime we read, which is often!

I highly recommend this book as well as the other pop ups that are made by this company. The one with the colors is really cute too

Editorial Review:

Bold bright graphics, a simple clean design, engaging rhyming text that appeals to young kids, and big pop-ups on each spread; this is the appeal of the Snappy series. A day on the farm has never been quite so much fun -- or quite so noisy -- thanks to this mooing, baaing, neighing menagerie of pop-up surprises. And what better way to learn than with this happy, snappy pop-up!

Teachers do live at school, don't they? 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Whenever my students see my outside of the school setting, they are always shocked. This book is about a boy was sure all the teachers lived at school, ate dinner in the cafeteria, slept in the lounge, etc., until his teacher moves in to his apartment building. Oh no!! He not only sees her carrying out garbage, but sees her wearing sandals that reveal she has TOES!! This is cute for kids (who still may persist in believing teachers live at school), and it would be an ideal gift for the soon-to-be-teacher. Funny text and pictures make this a winner for 6-8 year olds.

a great book 4 out of 5 stars.

...All of the kids in room 10 think that all of the teachers live in the school. Until one day, their teacher moves into to the same apartment building as one of the students. The student tries to prove to some of the students that the teachers don't really live at the school, and he does. I think this is a great book and I hope that you get to read it some day too...

Editorial Review:

A first-grade boy is shocked, then pleased, when he discovers that his teacher has a life away from school.
