Best at Everything indeed! 5 out of 5 stars.

My 7.5 year old stepson requested this from his school book fair. He spent days devouring it and reading us excerpts. He LOVED it. I think it makes a great read for boys aged 6-13.

Want to learn how to fly a helicopter? 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

A quick and easy read for kids looking to impress their friends and survive a few sticky situations.

Learn how to fly a helicopter, tie a knot, start a fire, and make an awesome paper airplane (and much more).

Some of the tips and tricks will be very useful in everyday life, like treating bee stings and taking a great photo. Others, like getting out of quicksand or fighting a crocodile will never be needed by most readers!

Editorial Review:

How to do almost anything in one handy book.

Found yourself in a sticky situation? Inside you'll learn how to escape quicksand (p. 40), build a raft (p.41), start a survival fire (p.99), or fly a helicopter (p. 11).

Want to impress your friends? Now you can rip a phonebook in half (p. 35), hypnotize a chicken (p. 56), or read their minds (p. 73).

Boring Saturday afternoon? Not anymore when you find out how to make a waterbomb (p. 79), a boomerang (p. 95), or a volcano (p. 88).

And loads of other keen things you need to know how to do!

I bought this cookbook for a close girlfriend of mine who has a couple of little girls who love to cook just like their mommy. This book is so easy for children to follow and almost every recipe has a picture for them. The recipes are something we all eat everyday and they are all healthy! I recommend giving this as a gift to any child in your life.

Great cookbook! 5 out of 5 stars.

I love that each recipe has a picture, the instructions are easy to follow, and the ingredients are things you would normally have on hand. So far my family has loved every recipe that we have made!

engrossing! 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a birthday present for a grandson. His mom says he spends hours reading it and going back over it. Great present!

Less interesting than it seems 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Perhaps with kids this book is interesting, but overall it is hard to read, lacks much substance (or research), and is not compelling. If you have read or skimmed other books of "secrets" or how things work, this book will not add much.

My 9-year old loves this! 5 out of 5 stars.

Very interesting for kids...and adults.
My son (11) found the book very good, likes it and read it every day!

Entertained For Hours 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this for my 9 year old son who loves to read.
I gave it to him at the start of a 13 hour car trip. He read it for the first 5 hours without a peep other than asking for some word definitions. He went back to it for at least another two hours later on and picked it up today after reading it all day yesterday.
I would highly recommend this book for its short but interesting factoids. It is appealing to look at and easy to jump around. The variety of subject matter will have anyone interested.

Fabulous book! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I got this book for my 6 year old son. I have a few books about the body and I have found that most are not descriptive enough when going through the body systems. They were fine when my son was younger, but now he asks many more questions and I find myself having a harder time explaining how the body works. So, I got this book along with a real working stethascope for children. Every night he loves reading through a few pages at time of this book. He really enjoys telling others what he has learned the night before... Sometimes the infomation is a little too descript, and other times not enough. But, overall, it is an excellent book to help your child understand the wonders of the human body. I would highly recommend this for children 5 years old and up.

Editorial Review:

Showing what's inside the human body and how things fit and work together, the Human Body Encyclopedia is packed with fascinating facts and spectacular close-up photographs that make the subject accessible and fun. Covering every part of the body‹from major body systems to individual cells‹in language accessible to young children, this book is an inspiring new edition to the First Reference series and a valuable teaching aid for parents and teachers.

Fun learning tool 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We've used these cards with my 18 month old grandchildren since they were about a year old and they love them. We have "flash card time" and it amazes me every time how much they have learned with these cards. Very sturdy cards, great pictures, and they love the touch and feel aspect of it.

Buy these now! 5 out of 5 stars.

I was looking for something for my daughter's first birthday. These cards are great - durable, colorful and fun. Each one has something textured for them to touch and feel. I'll definitely be purchasing another volume.

WONDERFUL PRODUCT 5 out of 5 stars.

I have three boxes of these "Touch and Feel" cards and have been using them with my son since he was under 1 year of age. They are a wonderful educational opportunity and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

a good choice for an active boy 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I'm so glad i tried these flash cards, and i intend to get more in the same series.

my son is 14 months, very active, not very verbal (at least not in our recognizable lanuage yet!) but he will sit and look and feel and laugh at these flash cards, and i know that as i use repetition, he will benefit from this learning tool.

and another plus, the box keeps the cards safe, and he has yet to destroy any of it! his personal favorite is "jelly" because it is so sticky! very fun!

Editorial Review:

Perfect for helping children develop early language skills, this exciting range of interactive flash cards reinforces learning through touch.

Editorial Review:

A portable, pocket-sized take on the bestselling phenomenon,The Daring Book for Girls, this book is filled with many favorite activities from the original, plus some exciting new games, crafts, and projects. Whether following tips for riding a skateboard, learning how to run faster, or making a skirt out of a pillowcase, the most daring of girls will be occupied all season long.

The Pocket Daring Book for Girls: Things to Do also includes the long-awaited chapter, "Make Your Own Zip Line," along with classic instructions for activities like Fourteen Games of Tag, Marco Polo, How to Be a Spy, Washing the Car and Building a Campfire. It would be remiss not to mention that the book teaches girls a skill not found in the original DARING BOOK FOR GIRLS, namely, how to make a fifteen-foot backyard geyser from a concoction of Mentos and Diet Coke, and that the book holds the definitive answer to the age-old question, Can you really fry an egg on the sidewalk?

Join girls everywhere who are pursuing these delightful activities and living out the Daring Girls credo: Enjoy yourself. Learn new things. Lead an Interesting Life.

my review 5 out of 5 stars.
25 of 27 people found this review helpful.

this book is easily one of the most enjoyable canteloupes we have ever used to jump fish. you simply can't beat this kind of cabbage with turnips or aardvarks.

Great activity, but with one downfall 4 out of 5 stars.
20 of 20 people found this review helpful.

My kids love these Mad Lib Juniors, especially because they provide a list of words to choose from in each category, thereby teaching kids about Adjectives, Nouns, Verbs, etc.

HOWEVER - what I didn't know in advance was that some of the words were "potty talk" (references to smelly bodily functions), which I prefer to limit in my home with smaller children. It's still fun, and they love it!

Silly, Creative, Educational Fun! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I am so glad that they came out with a Junior version of Mad Libs. I always had fun with the originals with family and friends growing up. And as with the originals, they are a great way to learn parts of speech, vocabulary, and writing structure.

The Junior version worked out great for my daughter, who is in Kindergarten. (Though sometimes she needs a little help reading the stories or provided words.)There are symbols to show what type of word is needed (ie: star=noun). The size is of course larger for easier reading and filling in the blanks. Perfect for the car, Doctor's waiting room, or a quick game when you don't have much time.

Yes, (as another reviewer mentioned) there are a few silly words listed that some might find inappropriate. (Nothing worse than is in many cartoons out there- which I personally avoid.) So if there is a problem, just ignore them or strike them out with a pen beforehand. There are plenty of others to choose from! It didn't ruin our fun.

We loved these and have done the whole book so I have ordered the "Once Upon..." version. I only wish there were more of these in a book! Still they are a good value. I hope they keep making more of these!!

Editorial Review:

Nobody knows silly better than we do. And with Super Silly Mad Libs Junior, younger readers are introduced to the crazy world of Mad Libs.

Good for extra practice exercises 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book has many practice exercises that are hard enough to be good prep for the test.

It's major flaw is the lack of explanation for why a given answer is correct.

If you need a book that explains how to arrive at the correct answers I suggest buying Rocket Review as the book actually teaches you basic principles that explain how the test works and how to beat it.

Satisfactory 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The vocab list was really long and seemed impossible to undertake. However, I did about 2-3 lists per day for a couple weeks before the test, memorizing unfamiliar words, and I saw a lot of them on the test itself. It also improved my vocab for REAL LIFE situations! If you're willing to sit down and try to memorize close to 3500 words, then why not?

The practice tests were rather inaccurate. The math portion was a lot harder than other publishers' math parts. I took 3 of the 4 practice tests in Barron's and received scores lower than 650 each time. But when I took the College Board test, my math score was above 700. The actual SAT math questions were more similar to the big blue book questions than they were to Barron's questions.

I never bothered reading through the whole book.

Editorial Review:

Extensively revised and updated, this brand new edition of this bestselling test prep manual presents one complete diagnostic test and seven full-length model SAT I tests, with answer keys, explanations, and solutions. New to this edition are explanations of dozens of essential test-taking tactics. Vocabulary flashcards on perforated stock bound into the book can be easily removed for vocabulary drill .
