A Fun and Beautiful Bedtime Book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

In this beautifully-illustrated bedtime book, the gorilla steals the key from the zookeeper, letting out all the animals, who follow the zookeeper home to bed.

The story is cute, but what I really loved about this book was the great illustrations. The colors pop out at you from the page and capture your attention.

This book is one of my new bedtime favorites! I can't wait to read it to my son.

Better Than Goodnight Moon 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Opposed to other reviews, my personal opinion is that Good Night Gorilla is better than Goodnight Moon (although both are great bedtime stories). Funny and filled with great illustrations, Good Night Gorilla is a charming reader. My sons just love it. Another bedtime story I'd recommend and they love is Ladybug Baby Bug, by Janice and Mark Perkins.

Fun and funny 5 out of 5 stars.

A wonderful story. Classic kids' book. They love the art work! A terrific little book for kids. A goodbook before 10 minutes tlll Bed Time. It's sturdy.

Editorial Review:

It's bedtime at the zoo and the zoo keeper is locking the animals up for the night and wishing them goodnight. But the gorilla has pinched the zoo keeper's keys and he'd rather sleep in a comfy bed than in a cage!

Hitting Hands 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this book for my 22 month old who has learned that hitting is an "effective" way to get his big brother's attention. My son is fascinated with this book and obviously gets the message. We have a few other books from this series and love them.

good book for generating dialog 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I saw this book recently featured in an article in a print periodical about child development

We've recently had minor problems with our 4-year old son acting out after preschool on days when he had been picked on by other kids. We got the book and used it is a bedtime story. It generated good dialogue (as good as you get with a 4-year old) and it made him think before he acted. It gave him some tools to use with the more physical kids so he resolves the problem in the moment without resorting to aggression. Wthat he doesn't have to resort to acting out to make the behavior stop. I am glad that I purchased this book.

We bought also 'Words Are Not for Hurting' and that one was not as useful for generating dialog.

Editorial Review:

In this gentle, encouraging book, simple words and warm, inviting full-color illustrations teach children that violence is never okay and they can learn to manage their anger. There's also a special section for adults, with ideas for things to talk about and activities to do together. Recommended for day-care, preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary school classrooms and the home.

Not the same as the big books 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

We were a little disappointed with this book and a couple of the other board books in this series. Our one-year-old son LOVES the full size "How Do Dinosaurs" story books, but he hardly pays attention to the board books.

First of all, the words and rhymes aren't as clever. Maybe the concept of counting or colors just isn't as good of a material as going to bed, eating your food, or going to the doctor.

Second, the books are short and the artwork is very scaled down and much simpler. My son loves the artwork in the bigger books but the white background in these is kind of boring.

Maybe time will tell, but he is getting past the board book stage and I am just not sure that these books will hold the attention of kids who are at an age for learning colors or numbers. I wish there was a full-size version, and I wish I had known the content of the board books was not as good as the big books. Now YOU do!

Editorial Review:

Come along for some BIG fun as your favorite dinosaurs delight young readers with their playful antics. How do dinosaurs count to ten? Over and over and over again! This brand new board book format brings the gigantic humor of bestselling, award-winning team Jane Yolen and Mark Teague to the youngest readers, helping them learn to count from one to ten with a simple, rhyming text and laugh-out-loud illustrations! A perfect companion book to the other HOW DO DINOSAURS tales, and a great baby gift as well.

Editorial Review:

The Princeton Review realizes that acing the SSAT and ISEE exams is very different from getting straight A’s in school. We don’t try to teach you everything there is to know about English and math–only what you’ll need to score higher on the exam. There’s a big difference. In Cracking the SSAT & ISEE, we’ll teach you how to think like the test writers and

·Correctly answer analogy and synonym questions even when you’re not sure what all of the words mean
·Ace the reading comprehension section by learning to spot main ideas, topic sentences, and key words
·Crack the general math section by learning to avoid wrong answer choices that look right but are planted to fool you
·Learn how to turn complicated algebra problems into simple word problems
·Simplify the SSAT writing sample and the ISEE essay using a sure-fire, step-by-step approach

This book includes five full-length practice tests, with questions like the ones you’ll see on the actual SSAT and ISEE.

Editorial Review:

This latest offering in the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul series explores a host of challenges faced by today's teens. Within its pages teens will find portraits of life's complexities expressed from the viewpoint of their peers. Teen contributors share their thoughts and feelings on difficult issues, ranging from poor self-image to thoughts of suicide, from family discord to coping with the loss, from peer pressure to school violence.

Teens ranked stress as one of their top concerns (along with child abuse and STDs). Oftentimes, the pressure can feel overwhelming, whether they involve worrying about an upcoming test, competition sports, family responsibilities, dating, or more extreme issues such as depression, suicide and school violence.

The first three volumes of the Teenage Soul series and the companion journal illustrate the ongoing popularity of this series (unit sales exceed 11 million). Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Tough Stuff and the Spring 2001 release Teenage Soul Letters will undoubtedly follow suit as the next best-sellers in a phenomenally popular series.

Gotta have it... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I highly recommend Brain Quest. We now have several sets and I plan on buying additional. Such a fun way for kids to learn. Since they are compact they can go anywhere. We've taken them on car trips, to the doctors office, shopping...just about anywhere. The kids think of it as a game, not as sitting down and learning. This is a great gift for someone as well.

My pre Kindergartener loved this 5 out of 5 stars.

These are great stocking stuffers. My daughter received hers the Christmas before she was to start Kindergarten so she could become familiar with the curriculum. These became her favorite flash cards. It also opened doors to teaching things she didn't know like time. Highly recomended

This item was delivered very quickly. My daughter loves to do Q & A type flashcards and this is perfect for her to do. We have purchased the previous two BrainQuests as well and will continue to purchase these as our daughter grows.

A Must for Fifth Grade Girls 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for a grand daughter who'ss getting ready for middle school next year. She's been 'freaking out' over the significant changes in middle school.

I haven't read the entire book but I've skimmed it enough to see that it will be a life saver for her, and I highly recommend it for anyone who has a girl leaving the comfort of elementary school.

Editorial Review:

Middle school is all about change. In the opening section, girls take a quiz to determine how they respond to change, then receive tips on how to cope with the big changes that they’re getting ready to face as they start middle school- switching classes, getting up earlier, and having their own lockers, all while learning to manage a new school, new teachers, new friends, and LOTS more homework and activities! The secret to feeling more confident as she starts middle school is having a little insight into what to expect. This book provides that information as well as "Smart Girl’s tips" from girls who have already made the grade in the big school.
