This book is wonderful. My daughter started with this book when she was only 5 or 6 months old. Its great because it teaches kids about teeth and to take care of them. My daughter is 19 months old now and still reaches for this book all the time!

cute book! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book came right in time for my 5 year old. He lost his tooth the next day...it teaches children the importance of taking care of their teeth.

Good book for kids.... 5 out of 5 stars.

Book was in great condition when I got it and was on time. I bought the book for my 2 year old son who loves to read. We have the "Eye" book as well. He really liked that book so I figured he would like the tooth book as well. Unfortunately this book is a lot longer and doesn't keep his attention as much as the "Eye" book. However, if you are buying this for an older kid, it's a great read! I would deff recommend it!

Editorial Review:

A classic work by Dr. Seuss writing as Theo. LeSieg, with new illustrations by Joe Mathieu, about who has teeth, who doesn't, and how to keep the ones you have!

Little one loves this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I am not a huge fan of this book, but my daughter LOVES it, so I am giving it 5 stars. She refused to try a sticky bun tonight because 'it's junk food', so I appreciate that (we mostly eat healthy around here). I just hope that she never points at anyone out in public and says something like "they eat way too much junk food".

Benny's Burgeritis now available!! ~ with "Too Much Junk Food" 5 out of 5 stars.

Check out Benny's Burgeritis now available with Berenstain Bears ~ Too Much Junk Food! It's a hilariously funny story of a little boy named Benny Buttons who refuses to eat his vegetables despite his mother's repeated warnings, until one day the unexpected happens that changes Benny Buttons' life FOREVER! It's a hamburger hoot!! Honest! (I know Benny Buttons very well because my mother and sister wrote the book with me and every other stubborn hamburger-eatin' kid in mind!)

Hilarious! 5 out of 5 stars.

You can always spot a Tedd Arnold book. His pictures have such a uniqueness to them and his words are simple and cute. He really makes you think. When I read this book to my boys they laugh and then wonder themselves why they have lint in their belly buttons or gray things falling out of their noses.
Wonderfully drawn and filled with exceptional humor. It's almost as though a child wrote it, it's so believable!

This book could not be more perfect for little boys (heck, my middle and high school sons loved it, too)! They think it's absolutely hilarious! Warning: be prepared to read it over and over and over and...

The human body is gross... 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Told from the perspective of a terrified five-year-old, Parts is the story of a boy discovering the wonders (and grossness) of the human body. When he notices his hair is falling out, fuzz is popping out of his belly button, and he's losing skin, he begins to panic, thinking the glue that holds his body together is failing and he's falling apart.

He imagines scenarios where his body finally fails altogether and he uses his father's masking tape to hold himself together. Probably the most amusing part of the book is the boy's parents looking on helplessly as he asks why they didn't tell him about these things. His mother is cradling a "Parenting for Beginners" book under her arm, reminding us that parents truly learn as we go and don't always have all the answers.

The illustrations are colorful and fun, with characters with exaggerated features. They're very fitting, since to the young boy, everything is exaggerated. It's a cute introduction to the more disgusting topics of human anatomy, including boogers and ear wax. Of course, my two boys love it and want to make it part of our permanent collection. More squeamish kids will probably enjoy the "gross out" factor.

Editorial Review:

The young narrator has discovered a disturbing trend--there is fuzz in his belly button, his toes are peeling, something just fell out of his nose--and after his tooth falls out, he decides comes to the awful realization that his parts are coming unglued."

Brilliant book on meditation, suitable for 2-102 year olds! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Don't be put off by the "piggies" (I was, initially). This is actually a really good book on meditation. If you want to teach your young (under 8) child/ren to meditate (or understand the idea behind meditation) this is absolutely perfect. It is also a good book on meditation generally; it keeps it simple. I think even adults can learn something from this book.

Great starting point for our family 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I would practice meditation before the kids were awake or after they went asleep and didn't really consider including them until we started having fighting problems between the brothers. Then I started. This along with "baby Buddhas" gave us a good start. I do wish- the fish didn't die in the story, that is hard to explain each time we read it (why is the fish not in the tank?)- and like in one picture- the pig looks like he feels bad about himself- yet the caption says- "meditation helps you feel good about yourself"... so I agree with one author's critique that it's a bit confusing- for like a 3 year old.
But- on the positive side. My 3 year old- loves it. It inspired us to make our own meditation cushion like piggy (I let him pick out the fabric- dogs on motorcycles- and he helped sew it). He helped make an altar like piggy... These things- he really latched on to. Unfortunately I couldn't find hardly any books that show kids meditating or how to...so of what there is...this is pretty good! Hopefully there will be more soon (before my kids grow up!!)

Editorial Review:

Sometimes life seems like it's all about hurrying--so many places to go! And sometimes it's hard when things don't go your way--it can make a piggy angry and sad. So how do young piggies find a peaceful place in a frustrating world? They meditate! They find a quiet spot, a special place with a few simple things, and just breathe. They do this every day, feeling their breath going in and out. They slow down and calm down. Now it's easier to deal with whatever comes their way, and they have time to notice all the magical things in life, too!

I got a stuffed animal instead of a book! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I ordered a number of "How does a Dinosaur" books and my 3-year old girl loves them. This book, however, did not arrive. I got a stuffed dinosaur (a character from the book) with a "How do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon" tag on it, but no book. My daughter really likes the stuffed dinosaur and I see that the book is now listed as out of stock. A well-liked gift for my daughter either way.

Great 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I love these books. Everyone of the books in the series have met mine and my child's expectations. Of course being a boy he loves the dinosaurs and as I the mom, I love the values, manners and morals they teach.

Editorial Review:

What if a dinosaur catches the flu?Does he whimper and whine between each "At-choo"?Does he drop dirty tissues all over the floor?Does he fling his medicine out of the door? Just like kids, little dinosaurs hate being sick. And going to the doctor can be pretty scary. How DO dinosaurs get well soon? They drink lots of juice, and they get lots of rest; they're good at the doctor's, 'cause doctors know best. As in their previous book, Yolen and Teague capture children's fears about being sick and put them to rest with playful read-aloud verse and wonderfully amusing pictures.

Doctor DeSoto book 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 9 people found this review helpful.

You can call me StoryMaker. "Doctor DeSoto" is not my favorite book, and I especially don't like the end. I like how they are animal people, but are the size they are supposed to be. What I mean is, they are animals that talk, walk on 2 legs, and live in their own house, but unlike most people animals, they are the size they are in real life. It would probably be a book a young child would adore (probably most children ages 3-5) but I don't fall into the "Dr. DeSoto lovers" category or the "children ages 3-5" category. This book is where a mouse named Dr. DeSoto (a dentist) finds out a fox is seeking dental care. Dr. DeSoto never let an animal that might eat him come in before (that's where them being the size they are in real life is important), but the fox really wants that dental care so Dr. DeSoto's wife lets him in. The part I hate the most is the end when Dr. DeSoto gives the fox his so-called special treatment so he won't eat them. That so-called special treatment causes the fox to not be able to eat anything, even if it isn't a DeSoto family member at all. He could DIE if it dosen't ware off! I actually don't have a lot of complaints, but this book is not very exciting. Overall, perhaps you may like it, but if you like foxes, this book will not please you. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"

Editorial Review:

"Doctor De Soto, the dentist, did very good work." With the aid of his able assistant, Mrs. De Soto, he copes with the toothaches of animals large and small. His expertise is so great that his fortunate patients never feel any pain.

Since he's a mouse, Doctor De Soto refuses to treat "dangerous" animals--that is, animals who have a taste for mice. But one day a fox shows up and begs for relief from the tooth that's killing him. How can the kindhearted De Sotos turn him away? But how can they make sure that the fox doesn't give in to his baser instincts once his tooth is fixed? Those clever De Sotos will find a way.

Great beginning reader! 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This book, like most of the Hello Reader books, is a wonderful introduction to reading for young children. As a teacher of young children, I know how important it is to offer children books with short, repetitive words that they will begin to recognize by sight. This books contains many of those words. My five-year-old twin daughters read this one every night as they are anxiously awaiting the day when their first teeth will fall out!

Disappointed 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book for my son's birthday, because we had previously read and loved "Even More Parts" by the same author. It is nowhere near as clever and was a huge disappointment to both of us. It is also much shorter than "Even More Parts" and that made it seem even more disappointing.

Makes Reading Fun 5 out of 5 stars.

The best way to get a child interested in reading is to make reading fun. This series is a good start. It's short and simple and funny. KEEP KIDS READING! Make it fun and make them laugh.

Sounds AWEFUL 1 out of 5 stars.

Why is it that as American generations progress, parents become less and less aware of the sensitivity of their children's hearts? My husband and I (who are in our 20s) are extremely careful about exposing our sons to things that cause unnecessary stress and fear. We do not shelter them from real-life experiences but are careful to explain them in a way that they can understand and move on from (i.e. our cat disappearing and our horse dying from old age), yet why give a child something to fear that is not necessary? If one would like to explain a certain idiom that we have in society, one can do so when the question arises (which will most likely not be very often). While we do not own this book, I was appalled to see the pictures and ideas that this would give our children who would otherwise not have thought of these horrific things (they are 2 & 5). I was looking for a book that might name and/or explain body parts in a funny and cartoonish way- not a Halloween or horror story for little minds. My conclusion is this: Aren't there enough bad/scary/weird things going on in everyone's normal life without having a story book to present more of those things to your children?

Editorial Review:

Give me a hand . . . hold your tongue . . . scream your lungs out . . . what's a kid to do if he wants to keep all his body parts in place? Well, one thing is for sure, he'll have to be creative. Like, if you want to keep your heart from breaking, just make sure it's well padded and protected by tying a pillow around your chest. Want to keep your hands attached? Simple-stick them on with gloves and lots of glue. Just be careful not to laugh your head off!

4 1/2 Reversive Recursive: Fun With Froggy 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Another in the prolific Jonathan London's "Froggy" series, this book about the amphibious one is a recursive story about all the clothes you must wear on a snowy day--and all the clothes you must take off (in the reverse order) when you forget to put some on.

In this Froggy tale, our green hero wakes up with incredible enthusiasm--it's like he was raised on caffeine--and he just CANNOT wait to go out and play in the snow.

"No! No! cried Froggy.
"I'm awake! awake!
I want to go out and play
in the snow."

Straight away, he puts on his socks, boots, hat, scarf, and mittens. London cleverly uses different sound effects for each item (e.g., socks get a "zoop!," and mittens, a "zum!"), and different verbs for each action: A scarf is tied on, boots are pulled. However, just as the excited Froggy is ready to join the other animals in the snow, his mother yells, "Frrrooggyy!" (and that's a direct quote) "Did you forget to put something on?" Froggy discovers that he forgot one important thing--to put on his pants.

That, of course, is an almost certain lock on kids' attention. But first, Froggy has to take off all his clothes (except his socks--they don't get in the way), put on his pants, then put them all his clothes on again. The hasty frog's mood jumps from joyful to exasperated surprise to determined. Subsequently, his mother clues him into noticing that he has forgotten his coat and shirt, and, of course, his underwear. All this putting on and taking off and putting back on tires Froggy out, and he crawls back into bed. The book's basic plot and repetitive scheme will engage most toddlers, and teach them a lot about clothes (they all look so cozy!), sequencing, and word structure. The illustrations, colors, and font are big and bright, and despite all the action, the pages look uncluttered.

(One very minor complaint regards the synchronization of text and illustration. On one of the three pages where Froggy realizes he forget to put something on, he is shown smiling as he prepares a snowball. It's really unfortunate when this sort of editing error occurs, and I've seen such problems [poor continuity is another example] in other books for kids.)

Illustrator Frank Remkiewicz also does wonders with facial and body expressions. Still, I wonder whether somewhat older toddlers and those in early elementary school might feel a little disappointed that Froggy doesn't get to play. It's realistic--a kid or a frog WOULD get tired with all that dressing exercise--but I didn't like that the mom smiles so broadly when Froggy goes back to bed. However, I doubt that the intended audience is going to give a rivet about that.

Editorial Review:

Froggy wants to go out and play in the snow, but his mother has to keep calling him back in to dress him properly for the cold weather.

This is one of my favorite children's books. There are lots of lessons for ongoing analogies. But the best part is that the book is funny and loved by kids.

Very Disappointing 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I did not find this book very funny or amusing. There's nothing wrong with enjoying healthy food -- whether you're a goat or a child.

Hey, that's my name! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

First of all, I'm a little biased. My name is Gregory, so as a child, I naturally loved anything that had the same name as me. This book made me laugh and now, probably 10-15 years later, I randomly thought of this book at work and thought "hey' I'll check Amazon!". (Something which didn't exist when I read this book)

I don't know if this book will teach anybody anything, but I do know that I read it growing up and I turned out pretty good. The eating of violins and tires is funny to the childish mind. Heck I still find it funny. Heh heh.

If you have children (and especially if their names are Greg) then buy this book.

If you don't have children (and your name is Greg) then you may still want to consider buying this book.

Editorial Review:

Gregory, the Terrible Eater, wants orange juice and eggs for breakfast. His parents are terribly upset!

Why can't Gregory eat striped ties and violins, like the rest of the goats?

Jose Aruego and Ariane Dewey have entered into the spirit of Mitchell Sharmat's upside-down, turned-around world with bold, wacky, expressive illustrations. The trio's exuberant collaboration provokes healthy laughter and even includes a colorful chart which gives fresh meaning to the concept of "junk food."
