Very Good Information 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I remember when I was a little girl and my mom reading this book to me. I purchased it for my daughter so we could have "the talk", which she felt was torturous, but I still think that the book is great! Easy to read, relevant information without being overwhelming.

Great Deal, Super Seller, Thank you! 5 out of 5 stars.

What can I say, this book arrived promptly, in great condition, just what we ordered. Our 10 year old was already going through changes, and it helped out a big lot, THANK YOU

Well-presented, but thin on information 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I used this book w/ both my boys and it was fine, but I didn't love it.

The first half of the book is all "We're going to talk about puberty", "puberty is what we're going to talk about", "get ready to talk about puberty" - etc. I grew bored and so did my kids. It's like a novel with 7 prologues.

The second half of the book finally gets into some well-presented and age-appropriate information - about breasts, erections, periods, pimples, wet dreams, masturbation, etc. These topics are covered in what I think is just enough detail - with cute pictures to alleviate tension and about 2 pages on each topic. I give the second half of the book 5 stars.

One thing I didn't like is that the book assumes a level of knowledge. What I mean is, it goes right into talking about how semen want to get out of erect penises to go make babies, without covering how exactly babies are made. This book is for 9 - 12 year olds who should have some basic knowledge but I think a brief refresher (instead of all the filler in the beginning) would be good.

A word about ages: My oldest got a lot out of this book at 10. My second son was far too immature at 10 and giggled until I finally put the book away and waited a year. Obviously, a parent must use their judgment with regard to what ages they should present this book to.

Editorial Review:

Discusses the mental and physical changes that take place during puberty.

It really works !! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book was an absolute God send ! After about a year we finally have no more stool witholding, potty dancing and agonizing screams when it is time for our little girl to poop. Thank God and the author of this book.
Our daughter could relate so well to Ryan that she wanted us to read the book over and over again and she started pooping without fear.
We do still use Milk of Magnesia every other day as a stool softer.
(Check with your childs Doctor before using any medicine)
Our pediatrician was not helpful at all with the functional constipation
and treated me like I was neurotic. It is heart breaking to watch your
child go through this and feel powerless to help. Buy the book you will
not regret it !!

Editorial Review:

Ryan is scared to use the potty. He's afraid to have a poop because he's afraid it's going to hurt. When Ryan's parents take him to visit Dr. Gold, she engages his imagination with the story of Bill the Coyote's messy house. She also shows him what happens inside the body, and explains how different foods make using the potty easy or hard. This story, along with Ryan's "poop program," will help young children gain the confidence they need to overcome this common problem and establish healthy habits.

can't get up the nerve to ask someone out?
got my period so early?
doesn't even know the right way to kiss?
feels pressured to use drugs?
still hasn't hit puberty yet?
wants to avoid the gang scene?
worries when my mom doesn't come home at night?
is scared that I might have AIDS?
can't decide what form of birth control to use?
has no idea how to tell my friends I'm gay?
goes on eating binges?
has never had an orgasm?
is shut out of the popular crowd?

Changing Bodies, Changing Lives has helped hundreds of thousands of teenagers make informed decisions about their lives, from questions about sex, love, friendship, and how your body works to dealing with problems at school and home and figuring out who you are. It's packed with illustrations, checklists, and resources for the answers you really need. Seeing the connection in everything 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is by far one of my most favorite children's books. "I am part of all I see, and all I see is part of me." Those first two pages sum it up.

The illustrations are warm, gentle, and beautiful. If you look closely you can see little elves and fairies hiding in the forest. My girls love to try and find them while we are reading.

I have given this book as a gift many times and it is always well received.

Thank you Chara for creating such a wonderful book for our evolving little ones (and their parents)!

Beautiful!! 5 out of 5 stars.

As a mother of a 15 month old daughter, I was looking for a book that I could read to her that would teach her that she is connected to the universe. I believe that all of our energy combined is God (for a lack of a better word)...and this book says this beautifully. I think I would have loved this book as a child as much as I do as a mother. This is my new favorite children's book after reading it to my daughter for the first time today. I almost had tears in my eyes it is so wonderfully written. I'm looking forward to giving this book as a gift to other spiritual mommy's that I know. The illustrations are lovely and kept my daughters attention the whole time. I will be reading this to her very frequently.

Editorial Review:

In a journey that carries the reader far beyond the printed page, a child discovers his common link with all of Life. Inspired by Sister Star, he finds the light within his heart and, as his version expands, he sees that same light in all other things.

All I See Is Part Of Me is warm and inspiring--a delight for children of all ages--a book whose message is never forgotten!

Editorial Review:

"I kept wanting it to happen. When it did I remember thinking, 'It's about time.'"

"I was worried at first. Then it really wasn't so bad after all."

"I remember my brothers weren't allowed to hit me in the chest anymore. I was kind of pleased about that."

What mysterious condition are these now grown-up girls talking about? Ah, yes, puberty! With scads of personal stories and an abundance of useful, detailed information about girls' changing bodies and feelings, author Lynda Madaras and her daughter Area Madaras have expanded their guide for girls on the verge of change. First published in 1983, the bestselling classic has been revised and updated several times over the years to keep up with ever evolving facts and wisdom about puberty in girls. In this third edition, the authors continue their straight talk on the menstrual cycle, reproductive organs, breasts, emotional changes, puberty in boys, body hair, pimples, masturbation, and all the other fun, scary, and interesting things that go along with growing up. Filled with anecdotes, illustrations, diagrams, and honest, sensitive, nonjudgmental information for the young girl, the revised edition also addresses the new scientific facts about when a girl actually begins puberty (earlier than previously thought), advice on "female athletic syndrome," eating disorders, unwanted attention because of early development, and information on eating right, exercise, AIDS, STDs, birth control, and so much more. A welcome, reassuring book for parents and daughters, designed with the understanding that some girls and parents will want to read it together, and some will want to read it on their own; without a doubt, though, all will benefit. Got boys? Don't miss What's Happening to My Body? Book for Boys. (Ages 8 to 15) --Emilie Coulter

Grossology and you 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book. It uses all the correct terms, shows the child how to say the word, and presents the facts in a fun and easy way for children to understand, not to mention a few giggles to boot!

Great for the younger children 5 out of 5 stars.

I have two children, ages 6 & 8. Both of them sat down and had full attention the entire time I read it! Filled with tons of niffy facts...and gross ones too! Even I learned a few things!

Make learning fun for your kids 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Who says science has to be boring? Our kids (7, 6, 4) are about the ideal ages (better for the 7 year old than the 4 year old though). I bet 10 year olds would still enjoy it. Our daughter enjoyed it as much as our sons - don't think it is just for boys. Kids have an odd fascination with all of the topics in the book (e.g., snot). The grossness draws them in, and the text is engaging so that they actually learn something while having fun.

Another gross book which can't be put down! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book for my three sons because they (and I) LOVED Grossology. Once again, they (and I) were laughing and 'grossing out' while they read. If science were taught this way in school, I'm sure my boys would look forward to learning all the more. Highly recommended for reading to your children or leaving them to read alone...all while laughing your heart out, with a load of 'eeewws' included. As my oldest son said, "It's 'grosser' than the other...'grosser' and just as funny."

Editorial Review:

We have news for you: You are gross. (And you thought we’d never find out!)

Educational 5 out of 5 stars.

This book explains about how the human body deals with reflexes. It gets a little technical, but a four or five year old can definately understand the content. I enjoyed reading this book to my children because even I learned a little that I either had not learned or had forgotten.

Young, inquisitive minds 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Even if your youngster hasn't asked, this book helps the "thinking" process of asking "why". When this question is asked about things that they can understand, it begins the process of asking why about lots of other things.

Great for those who also ask why on their own.

Editorial Review:

Ka-choo! Brrr. Yawnnnn.

Have you ever wondered what makes you sneeze when you're in a dusty room? Or shiver when you get out of the bathtub? Or yawn when you're tired? All of these actions are reflexes. Your body makes them happen even though you don't tell it to.

Budding young scientists will be amazed as Melvin Berger and Paul Meisel reveal the mysteries behind the reflexes that happen in our bodies every day and offer fun-filled experiments to try on family and friends. Let's Read and Find Out Science, Stage 2.

A great book for sleep time problems 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

Dawn Huebner has written a wonderful book about helping children deal with nighttime fears. I am child psychologist who specializes in anxious children and I have been recommending this book to the parents of my patients. I use the book as an adjunt to my therapy. However, parents and children can easily benefit from this book on their own. I What I like about this book is that it creates a sense of fun about dealing with anxieties at night. It has some great suggestions about playful games that have a purpose as in her"The Famous Fear-Melting Super Hiding Game". I always value books that give me ideas and a vocabulary about how to talk with children. Dr. Huebner book has many suggestions about how to use child friendly language to deal with nighttime fears. My child clients have liked doing the drawing and other assignments contain in the book. This book will be my standard recommendation for children who struggle with those anxious feelings at bedtime.

Editorial Review:

Wouldn't it be great if you could climb into bed, snuggle under your covers, and fall asleep without any fuss or fear? Without listening for noises or thinking about bad guys? Without an extra drink, or an extra hug, or an extra trip to the bathroom? Bedtime is tough for many kids. If you're a kid who dreads your bed, and are convinced that nothing short of magic will make nighttime easier, this book is for you.

What to Do When You Dread Your Bed guides children and their parents through the cognitive-behavioral techniques used to treat problems with sleep. Fears, busy brains, restless bodies, and overdependence on parents are all tackled as children gain the skills they need for more peaceful nights. This interactive self-help book is the complete resource for educating, motivating, and empowering children to fall asleep and stay asleep--like magic!

I like this book because it taught me all different things when i was littler. Like how to brush my teeth, floss, wash my hands, wash my hair, get exercise, how to deal with a cold, the right food to eat, and how its important at the end of the day to get your rest. This book taught me so much and im thankful for that.

The book is great and has wonderful healthy positive messages. My kids love it and ask to read it over and over. The only dissapointment is that it still has one page with the old food guide pyramid.

Staying healthy and self esteem 4 out of 5 stars.

Some really important messages in this Seuss style beginner book including
the importance of hygiene, exercise, good nutrition, body safety, recognising and talking about own feelings, everyone is special and unique.
Sometimes the rhymes lose a bit of their rhythm, but overall I think it is a fair adaption of Seuss style, but most importantly it is a fun way to begin concepts of taking care and valuing yourself with young children.
