A great potty training book. 5 out of 5 stars.

I've used this book when my older daughter was going through potty training. Now we are doing the same for our youngest. I loved how it emphases that it's okay to have a mishap and just to keep on trying and eventually you will say good-bye to the diaper forever.

Almost the same as another book-buy the other 1 out of 5 stars.

Our son really loved Karen's "Toes, Ears and Nose" and although I was disappointed with the text in some of the manners books she wrote, I thought I would give this a try. This was the second potty book we bought-the first was "The Potty Book for Boys" which is cute and really enjoyable for our son. I was extemely shocked when we read this and, low and behold- the words in this book are almost exactly like the other book! This was confusing for our son and difficult to explain why this was almost the same. I will never buy one of her books again. Buy the other potty book and you will not be disappointed.

Editorial Review:

Mommy got me a brand new potty!

But I'm not ready yet!

I want to run and play.

Uh-oh, I peed in my pants.

But Mommy says, "That's okay!"

Children will love following along and lifting the flaps to see the child play, sit on thepotty, eat, sit on the potty, sleep, and then sit on the potty...until finally there is success.

Written from a child's point of view, this new potty-training book will help children join in the final refrain, "I'm so proud of me!"

Too Big for Diapers (Too Big Board Books)

Ok book but could be more detailed-my grandson has very good comprehension and seemed bored with the book very quickly.

Great book! 4 out of 5 stars.

My daughter loves Ernie. I got her this book and she loves sitting on the potty reading it over and over. Now she doesn't want to stop reading it even when she gets done going potty!

Potty Training Fun 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a must along with Elmo's potty video. They work together and my 2 year old loves them both.

Good book, not great 4 out of 5 stars.

I've purchased a lot of potty books and this one is just ok. My daughter enjoys the pictures. There's not much to read (which can be good), but the phrasing is a little...I'm not sure of the right word, maybe just different. I kind of throw in my own words on each page and my daughter seems to enjoy my version.

My daughter has two other potty books she likes better: Tinkle, Tinkle, Little Tot and The Potty Book for Girls. Hope my review helps.

Baby Ernie is too big for diapers! He's ready to try out his brand-new potty. It may take a few tries, but soon Ernie learns he can use the potty all by himself!

funny book kids will love! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

All children love to learn about their bodies and what comes out of them. Kids enjoy talking about poop, so this is a funny book they will love to read over and over. The illustrations are funny! This is not a book that really teaches children about WHY we poop - just that we all do.

Cute, although Disgusting 5 out of 5 stars.

While my husband thought this book was hilarious, I was a bit grossed out. My 2 year old loved it of course. A great book for a potty-training child or for giggles on the back of the toilet.

Good Poop Book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I purchased this book for my son, due to his issue with pooping on the potty. It was and still is a hit! He loved reading this book over and over again. And his issues with going on the potty were quickly resolved! Even now, a year after being completely potty trained, he still wants me to read him this book! One of his all time favorites!

Editorial Review:

"Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi is part biology textbook, part sociological treatise and all celebration of a very natural process. Both my daughters begged me to read the book over and over again. They marveled at the enormity of the elephant's poop and searched with the skill of a scientist for the tiny specks which represent bug poop. The text is simple and straightforward but not without humor.

One of the best books ever for potty time (and for today's politics) 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 10 people found this review helpful.

Although ostensibly written to teach small children a basic lifeskill, this is also a fine book to teach Republicans some basic conservative principles.

It begins by explaining how, when Michael's diaper is wet or dirty, "he tells mommy or daddy. Then they put a new diaper on, and Michael is clean and dry again." Now, think Presidential and how voters will replace "Diaper George" with either Barack or John.

After Michael's parents bring home a potty, George (I mean Michael) does the obvious; he sits on it, fully clothed. Then he sits his Teddy Bear on it, 'cause he likes Teddy (Roosevelt). Sounds like Michael (I mean George) needs some on-the-potty (I mean on-the-job) training ... or at least to listen to his Daddy.

The book is a beautiful, sensitive and helpful guide to training a young child in one of the basics of life. It's written in language simple and clear enough for any Republican (I mean parent) to understand in teaching the basics of what's important.

It took Michael (George) some time. "Michael sat and sat. This time something happened. Mommy and Daddy and Michael looked in the potty. They saw pee and poop." Sounds like what prosecutors saw in the Abramoff lobbying scandal, doesn't it? Of course, cleaning up pee and poop is a lot easier than cleaning up Washington.

Consider the following sequence: "One day Michael forgot to use his potty. His pants got wet. The floor got wet, too." During Hurricane Katrina a lot of pants and floors got wet. Remember, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job"?

Please, don't let the political similarities deter you from buying this book. It deserves the high ratings others give it. What's more, when your child is properly potty trained, pass it along to some Republican to help them start over again from the basics.

They may need it more than your child. Just look at the mess they've made. Don't you wish someone had read it to George when it was published in 2000?

Editorial Review:

"What a big boy you are!"

Potty training can be fun. With warmth and sensitivity, Joanna Cole and Maxie Chambliss guide young boys though the challenges and rewards potty training—from the first steps to the joy of graduating to big boy underpants! A helpful "Note to parents" is included.

This is a great first potty book. Both my girls have been into the pictures and explanations. I would recommend it.

Favorite potty training book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I recently ordered several potty training books for my 22-month old daughter. This is by far her favorite! The rhyming quality of the book and the pictures are great. She loves the story so much she can almost recite it herself as we read!

Editorial Review:

Every little girl's graduation from diapers to the potty is always a very important moment—and one to make both parents and toddlers proud! In The Potty Book, Hannah needs to have her diapers changed so she can go out and play. Then mom and dad bring home a big box, and Hannah is anxious to open it up and see what's inside. Is it a rocking chair? A bed for Teddy? No, it's a potty—which means that it's time for Hannah to graduate from her diapers. This gentle and humorous little story is charmingly illustrated and told in verse. Little girls will enjoy looking at the pictures and having the story read to them. Meanwhile, they'll start getting the idea that it's time for them to grow up, exactly like Hannah. So that at last, they'll be able to say—"I'm off the potty!"

Great for little boys not wanting to give up their diapers 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book for my son who is 4 years old and is not interested at all with learning to use the potty. He loves books so I thought I would get this to show him that other little boys are being potty trained. Now, the book is adorable and Henry with his teddy makes potty training less scary. My son will sit on the potty but that's about it. But it's a first step!

Great book 5 out of 5 stars.

I was having a hard time getting my son to poop in the potty. This book was a hit! We were able to get him to use the potty on a regular basis just like the little boy in the book.

LOVE IT! 5 out of 5 stars.

Great book! My son has had this book for months and reads it every time he goes on the potty. He loves lifting the flaps, and "reading" the book. Definitely worth the money!

A favorite with some adjustments from Mommy 4 out of 5 stars.

My 18 month old daughter loves this book. It's a big part of our "pre potty training" reading. She likes the flaps (though has torn a couple off) and definitely "gets it". It hasn't seemed to make her all that more interested in using her potty, but I think it's pretty good for our purposes. I do adjust the words a bit - I say "yes, that's right. Tigers poop and pee on the ground and bury it". If you were having issues with your child pooping in the potty (as I've read many do as part of this process) it makes sense to read the book as is. But for our pre-training purposes I wanted to include the pee part. I'd also recommend the Potty Book for Girls for anyone who's in the pre training process.

Editorial Review:

This engaging lift-the-flap book shows children that all creatures have a place to poop: tigers in the jungle, kangaroos in the outback, and monkeys in the rain forest.

With the aid of this playful book, your child will see that he or she has a place to poop, too. While reinforcing the concept of toilet training, Where's the Poop? gives children the confidence they need. This engaging lift-the-flap book shows children that all creatures have a place to poop: tigers in the jungle, kangaroos in the outback, and monkeys in the rain forest.

doesnt look anything like a potty 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The pictures are cute but what is the point if the potty doesnt look anything like one, it is a pot with a handle! I have been reading it to my 21 month old daughter and I skip a lot of the pages. Might be ok for older kids but I am not very impressed with this book.

The classic books on a timeless subject -- for a new generation.

Thirty-two years later, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are the classic books on potty training and have sold more than four million copies worldwide. These children's books help parents everywhere deal successfully with an often vexing challenge for the whole family.

My daughter and I loved this book. I just randomly bought it online, having no idea if we would like it. Then I went to the library to get other books on potty training. I must say this was one of our favorites!! And I got about 12 others from the library. It is well written!

A great potty book!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter always enjoys books made by "DK" because the pictures are real & have vivid colors. I feel she gets a better concept & more encouragement to use the potty when she sees the vivid pictures.
It has great step by step explanations, its simply & the illustrations are colorful enough to keep her engaged. She loves the star stickers with the book also. A nice addition would have been a potty chart to go with it but overall its a great book.

Editorial Review:

Take the worry out of toilet training with these two engaging books, specially designed to motivate boys and girls to get excited about using the potty.

This book is fabulous. Beautiful illustrations and very funny!
My little boy adores it and it's helping with his potty training.

A Must-have before attempting toilet training! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have used this book prior to potty training 3 generations of boys in our family. I introduce it about 6 months before I think each child will be ready for training. The kids love the story and the fact that the pictures are anatomically correct! They carry the book with them wherever they go and eventually "read" it to themselves.

This book is not a toilet training method or an end unto itself. I think it is best used to prepare children for the idea of using the potty. As a parent educator, mom and grandma I recommend it to all parents to use along with Toilet Training in Less Than A Day.I've never known these to fail if followed accurately!
