Editorial Review:

Take one of the most significant landmarks in a toddler's life—potty-training—and treat it in exactly the right way—with funny, silly humor—and the result is the perfect gift and all-around kit for the toilet-training set (and their parents).

Here's everything needed to say good-bye to diapers forever, including a 32-page full-color book, four toddler-size "magazines" for bathroom reading—including Vanity Fairy, BQ (Babies Quarterly), Rolling Stroller, and Sports Animated, 100 toilet targets, reward stickers, a potty chart, a helpful brochure for parents (written by a pediatrician), and, best of all, a child's very own roll of toilet paper on a refillable holder. With its happy illustrations of a proud and curious toddler (unlike most other potty training books, this one is gender-neutral), the Potty Caddy Book answers the questions little kids actually think about: Why does the toilet make such a loud noise when it flushes? Will I fall in? Why do I need to stop using diapers? Where does everything go? But it does it all from a toddler's perspective, with the help of far-fetched creatures (swamp elephants, space aliens, and the Poop Police), plus songs and tips.

Warning: Contains bathroom humor.

Great book for little reluctant princesses (and princes)...! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a really nice book about a little princess that, for whatever reason, didn't want to use the potty (sound familiar?). No one could figure out why. Maybe she needed a new potty. Nope. That didn't work. The king and queen were scratching their heads. Then one day, she found out she could wear big girl underwear (a little different style in the days of dragons) and she liked her underwear so much that when it came time to empty her bladder, she didn't want to ruin them so she found the nearest toilet and went, her underwear still on, wrapped around her ankles. HA HA! That's so funny. My daughter loves this book because the story is like the Princess and the Potty segment of the "Potty Power" video, one of the best potty videos around. It's a cute story. It will help you train your little one - boy or girl. The truth is, sometimes you just don't know WHY they won't go. You'll enjoy this book!!!

Editorial Review:

The king and queen are at their wit's end -- there's not a potty in the land that pleases the princess. In their comical look at toilet training, Wendy Cheyette Lewison and Rick Brown turn an all-too-familiar dilemma into a royal romp.

For older children learning to go potty. 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book has lots of great info for parents as well as nice pictures, but it's written for older kids who can already speak well and ask complicated questions. It seems like it's aimed toward children over 2 1/2, most of whom are already in the process or done learning to use the potty. I do think the notes for parents will be useful for me.

shows nursing and co-sleeping 5 out of 5 stars.

Unlike most books, this book pictures a mother nuring her baby and a co-sleeper. I am not fond of the cartoon illustrations, but they are not terrible (I usually prefer photos instead). My 19 mo. old daughter loves this book.

Great book for AP and "crunchy" parents 5 out of 5 stars.

My son loved this book from the time we got it. In fact he is now 3 1/2 and had been using the potty for quite some time and he still asks to read it. Loved it's pro-breastfeeding slant. Also really appreciated its talk about diapers as we used cloth and always dropped the poopy in the toilet when they were dirtied. (Packages of disposables also tell you to do that actually as it is considered bio-hazardess waste) However, if you are not pro-breastfeeding and are uncomfortable speaking frankly about body functions, then this wouldn't be the book for you and there are probably many other books out there that would suit you better. Highly recommend this book!

Our son loved it! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a very simple book and I think that is part of its appeal. We started reading it to our son just after he turned one, and it was just a book. It wasn't only for the bathroom, or intended to help train him, but we treated it like any other book. I don't know how people can expect a book to potty train their children. Books like this shouldn't need to be instructional- the parents need to show them what to do. We had this and a few other potty books on the bookshelf (he also loved- and still loves- Too Big for Diapers) and we just read them when he chose them. We figured it would just gradually get him used to the idea, and when he was ready he'd do it. Well, at about 28 months, with very little prodding from us, he decided to wear big boy underwear and he kept them dry! He had his share of accidents, and it was a few more months before he'd poop in the potty, but overall he's done really well (he's almost 3 now). He still sometimes says "bye-bye pee-pee or poo-poo" like Grover does on the last page, and he still likes to read it occasionally. I highly recommend this and Too Big for Diapers for younger children to just get them used to the idea of using a potty.

Editorial Review:

Toddler Grover and his Sesame Street friends are just beginning to learn about potty training. This interactive board books talks directly to readers and allows them to "flush" a potty at the end. A perfect introduction to the issue of toilet training for toddlers and their parents and care givers!

Relevant for toddlers 5 out of 5 stars.

My 2 1/2-year-old grandson loves this book. He likes the illustrations and the simple wording. He asked me to read it over several times.

I appreciated the message because he is told to wash his hands after he goes potty, after he pets the cat and after he comes in from outdoors--and of course, before eating. I think he liked this book because he could see that the princess had to wash her hands throughout the day just as he does!

Perfect for little prince and princesses 5 out of 5 stars.

I used this book to teach proper handwashing to a group of 4 & 5 year olds . Its was very helpful and I highly recommend it.
Perfect for preschoolers.

Very helpful 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I'm a nursing student and bought this to teach handwashing to day care and preschool students. Actually, I bought 3 different books and this was the only one "simple" enough for that age group to appreciate. The others went into viruses versus bacteria and were better for much older groups. I've used it 3 times for teaching groups and each time the children are engrossed in the story while at the same time learn about good hygiene. I especially like that it teaches germs are present even if you can't see them - something hard for little ones to get. Even though it centers around a "Princess" who has to wash her hands, the male children were just as interested in the story.

Editorial Review:

When the little princess hears about the germs and nasties living all around her, she understands the importance of washing her hands a lot.

My son's favorite potty training book 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

My son just turned 2 and is starting to show an interest in potty training, so I got several books for him...this one is definitely his favorite. He loves the real-life photographs (not just drawings)...I think it's easier for him to connect with. He also gets a kick out of seeing the teddy bear use the potty too. The text is nice (a lot of rhyming), though some of the words are too sophisticated for him...he doesn't seem to mind. We love that this is a boardbook, since he's still a bit rough on regular paper pages! Highly recommended.

Not worth the money 2 out of 5 stars.

I have two children of potty training age...a boy and a girl. I bought both versions and they are both pretty much useless. Neither one of my kids are intersted in the book...there is no storyline or cute characters. It is more of an encyclopedia of potty. Not really worth buying in my opinion.

Editorial Review:

These colorful books use friendly images and rhyming text to encourage kids to develop good behavior patterns. As an added incentive, each title comes with a sheet of star stickers and a special reward chart. Each time kids meet one of the goals, a star goes on the chart!

These two engaging books take the worry out of toilet training by motivating boys and girls to get excited about using the potty.

My Son's Favorite 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book has cartoon type illustrations and lots of references to being a "Big Boy" and going "pee-pee" or "poop-poop". There is also a cat that goes pee in it's litter box, along with the little boy going on the potty.

It talks about being afraid of the flushing sound and there is a button you can press which makes a "toilet flushing" sound, followed by a young child giggling. It is kind of cute.

Only 2 complaints about it: 1) It shows the little boy standing up to pee in a child sized urinal(which we don't do) and 2) it refers to poopy diapers as being "dirty". I do not approve of using the word "dirty" to refer to to natural bodily functions. I just skip over that word.

All in all, I don't love this book, but my 2 year old does. He loves the cat, the flushing button and the references to being a big boy. And really it is he who needs to enjoy it, not me. So I do recommend this book.

Editorial Review:

Toilet training is a natural step in a child's development. With this book and a little bit of parental patience, toilet training will be easy and rewarding for both parent and child. Includes a toilet flushing sound chip which brings giggles and laughter to toddlers learning this essential life skill. It also features a potty training progress chart!

okay book purchase 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 2-year-old and I think this book is okay. The art work is a little hard to follow for me, although my son doesn't seem to have a hard time. He likes the poetry of it. It isn't a great potty training book, per say, but nevertheless, an okay purchase. One part I don't like is pushing the standing up to pee for boys, I prefer to start him out sitting and progress to that once the actual going in the potty 100% of the time is established.

TIME TO PEE! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Wish I had purchased this sooner. My grandson was already on the home stretch so the chart and stickers were useless. However, we did read it five times the first day and again the second day.

Editorial Review:

Toilet training has never been such an adventure as when it is introduced by popular cartoonist Mo Willems. With his signature humor, the author gently leads children through each step in the process that will finally bring them to their emancipation from diapers. Featuring a crew of funny mice holding up signs with the text, children will be amused and inspired by this hilarious new picture book.

Editorial Review:

No more diapers for me! That’s what toddlers will proudly proclaim after they hear this appealing tale of a lovable duck who takes the big step. When Piggy can’t come out to play because he’s busy sitting on the potty, Ducky realizes it’s time to grow up, too. A sweet and subtle story, with two huggable animals that children will embrace.

A wonderfully funny book for encouraging potty training! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful book for toddlers and one that I don't mind reading over and over to my daughter. It is a very funny book for potty training about a young girl whose potty is stolen by the farm animals who think its the greatest thing ever. My daughter's favorite page reads, "What an amazing invention, what a wonderful device, but a little privacy would be nice." My daughter subsequently insists on privacy when she has to make a poo - something I don't mind at all!

Editorial Review:

When it’s time for potty training, both toddlers and parents will have fun with this book. Told in verse, it’s the story of Suzy Sue, who has something very important to do! The truth is, she needs to poo—but someone has snatched her potty away! Kids will laugh at the big, bright color illustrations as they turn each page, and as Mom or Dad reads Suzy Sue’s funny story. Worried, she goes running all around the farmyard, asking each of the animals if they’ve seen her potty. Fortunately all is well at story’s end—and toddlers will be encouraged to use a potty, just like Suzy Sue.
