This book written by L.M.Montgomery is about a girl named Anne Shirley who is eleven. She comes to live with Matthew, and Marilla Cuthbert from the orphanage in Nova Scotia. As this cheerful, spirited orphan gets into trouble, she brightens the life of everyone she meets. The Cuthberts were expecting to get a boy to help with farmwork, but instead they got Anne.At first, she was a handful, but then everybody came to love her, even Gilbert Blythe.Gilbert Bltyhe was a boy who teased Anne, but later they became friends.Gilbert, and Anne were the two smartest students in Avonlea. They both ended up being teachers when they grew up.Then, there is Anne's bosom friend Diana Barry who got intoxicated with rasberry cordial.Anne Shirley of Green Gables,Avonlea is a very excellent book, and I would recommend it to anybody.
Editorial Review:
A brother and sister send for a boy to help them on their farm, Green Gables. By mistake they are sent an 11-year-old girl. She picks a fight with anyone who mentions the colour of her hair and causes havoc, but ends up being loved. The author wrote "Anne of Avonlea" and "Anne of Ingleside".
