My favorite in this series! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I loved this book! I read this book on my lunch breaks at work and I was wrapped in the story and suspense I didn't want to put it down! I really enjoyed the way the characters have developed and we've learned more about them as their relationships have progressed. Now that I've finished the three books, I feel like they are friends I miss.

One thing I particularly enjoyed about the series as a whole is that though the book is a faith based fiction story, it's not 'preachy.' I feel I could pass these books on to someone of a different faith and they could enjoy them the same way I have.

Editorial Review:

Readers of mysteries and cat lovers alike will devour this third whodunit in the Jacques & Cleo, Cat Detectives series by bestselling author, Gilbert Morris.

When White Sands, Alabama, is chosen as the location for an international cat show, cat lovers from all over the world flock to the beach. Jake Novak is disgusted at the idea of people fawning over cats, but his downstairs housemate, Mary Katherine Forrest, is delighted. And when the favorite pedigreed cat is kidnapped, however, the cat–loving world is shocked. Then other favored contestants disappear and Jake is hired to solve the catnapping.

As the plot thickens, the friends of Jake and Mary Katherine are drawn into the chase—Beverly Devon–Hunt, Enola Stern, and Oceola Plank join forces to run the catnapper to a blazing finish—aided of course, by Jacques the Ripper...

Proof that Terri Blackstock knows her stuff! 5 out of 5 stars.

I would have to say that Terri Blackstock has shown her abilities as a writer once again in this book. She has demonstrated an absolutely excellent writing ability when it comes to this whole series! I greatly enjoyed "Word of Honor," and some of the themes of a covenant that were so prevalent in this book that I think are oftentimes overlooked so easily in our society. Mind you, I think there are a couple of points in which priorities lose their place in this book, but I also believe that they are restored before the end. I enjoy the murder mystery that is held in the story of one man's faithfulness to God, his family, and his friend. I also really enjoy the story behind Jill and Dan and all the struggles of their relationship while they're still so on and off. Most of all, I love the Christ-centered theme of all of Terri Blackstock's books. This is one sister in Christ who really knows how to write 'em!

Editorial Review:

In the third book in the Newpointe 911, Jill Clark learns the meaning of covenant when she is taken hostage by a suspect in a deadly bombing but isn't convinced he's guilty.

This book was one of the best books that I have read in awhile. The whole series by Terri Blackstock is excellent. This is the kind of book you can't wait to find out the end but, you hate to finish reading it.
My 14 year old daughter also read it too and loved it. If you are a fan of mysteries and also of romance you should pick this one and the whole series up.

Mystery 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the fourth book in the Cape Refuge mystery series and completes the story in a satisfactory and fulfilling way. Terri Blackstock is true to her readers, she doesn't "fool" any of us while at the same being able to slip in that quirk or surprise fact toward the ending that keeps the reader turning pages. The Cape Refuge characters are warm, smart and human!!! I have read all four of the Cape Refuge series and recommend them highly; they have a Christian slant that is light and does not preach or come on heavy-handed but is very today.

Editorial Review:

In the fourth book of the Cape Refuge Series, a teenage girl is found murdered, and the scene matches one in a book by a famous mystery writer who just moved to the island. This murder has a connection to Hanover House, and the residents there might never be the same.

Blackstock's books are a real joy 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Having just finished the Cape Refuge series, I moved on to another by starting Private Justice, the 1st book in the Newpointe 911 series. (Subsequent books, in order, are: Shadow of Doubt, Word of Honor, Trial by Fire, and Line of Duty.)

I would agree that the premise of this book may be somewhat far-fetched, but suspension of disbelief is part of the enjoyment. Everything doesn't have to be so totally realistic.

As in the Cape Refuge series, Newpointe 911 introduces us to characters we grow to care about. Assuming they continue throughout the series...have only read this 1st one so far.

I will admit I grew a little tired of the "misunderstanding" between Mark and Allie about Mark's supposed straying from the marriage vows. She jumps to conclusions after walking in on Mark hugging a female colleague and he gives in and moves out way too meekly. As his devotion to her proves itself over and over, she steadfastly continues to be angry. It takes a near fatal injury to bring them both around....too formulaic? Maybe, but I say overlook it and just enjoy the book.

Editorial Review:

Even in the midst of her affectionate and chaotic Italian family all living in the Bronx neighborhood where she grew up, Sofie Michelli feels alone. For too long, she has been caught in a net of loss and despair. When an old woman murmurs, "Finchè c'è vita c'è speranza" Where there's life, there's hope, Sofie feels the familiar words penetrate and awaken something. She is alive. It is time to let go, to start again. Rese is not sure what to make of Lance Michelli's healing gift, but she feels protective of this humbled version of the swaggering man who turned her life inside out. As they find new footing, the Sonoma villa they once intended as an inn becomes a refuge for the downtrodden--including Lance's sister Sofie. Driven to protect the weak and innocent, Child Protective Service worker Matt Hammond responds to a call and finds an infant abandoned to the care of an odd assortment of misfits. He reserves judgment on the unconventional caregivers--who both concern and fascinate him--but he is especially drawn to Sofie, the mesmerizing woman with a dancer's poise, eyes like dark copper pennies--and scars on her wrists.

Fantastic Book -- I've found a new favorite author 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is the first book of Singer's that I've read, but it won't be the last. I literally finished the book and my head is spinning with all the twists and turns the plot took until the last page. This book is a page-turner of a legal suspense. It reminds me of Grisham's early books -- still my favorites of his.

The courtroom scenes are authentic. The characters rich. The faith element finely woven. In fact this book can be enjoyed by all readers -- regardless of faith.

If you're looking for a legal suspense, this book is well worth your time and money!

Editorial Review:

After a series of murders in Virginia Beach, newspaper reporter Catherine O'Rourke experiences disturbing dreams that detail each crime. To aid the investigation, she shares them with a detective working the case. But her plan backfires when she's arrested as the main suspect. Catherine turns to Las Vegas lawyer Quinn Newberg, a high-priced specialist in the insanity defense who believes Catherine may be suffering from dissociative personality disorder. Quinn knows that insanity cases are unpredictable, but nothing could have prepared him for this. To win, or even survive, Quinn needs more than his famed legal maneuvering—he'll need a miracle.

Editorial Review:

Tim LaHaye created the Left Behind Series, which has become one of the most popular fiction series of all time. Those novels, with more that 50 million copies sold, presented a unique combination of suspense and substance drawn from his lifelong study of Biblical prophecy.

Now Tim LaHaye has created a new series that begins with Babylon Rising. The novels in this new series are even faster-paced thrillers based on prophecies that are not covered in the Left Behind books and that have great relevance to the events of today.

Babylon Rising introduces a terrific new hero for our time. Michael Murphy is a scholar of Biblical prophecy, but not the sedate and tweedy kind. Murphy is a field archaeologist who defies danger to fearlessly hunt down and authenticate ancient artifacts from Biblical times. His latest discovery is his most amazing—but it will send him hurtling from a life of excavation and revelations to a confrontation with the forces of the greatest evil. For the latest secret uncovered by Michael Murphy accelerates the countdown to the time of the end for all mankind.

WOW!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

From one author to another I tip my hat to Terry Blackstock for this supurbly written ROMANCE. How refreshing to read about characters that could live next door instead of with 'the rich and famous.' "Broken Wings" rings with realism and the authentic action and dialogue will often reduce the reader to grab for the tissue box. Masterfully researched, this narrative and its study of fear and its effect on our lives will bring back similiar experiences for many of us. The author offers insight into recovery with out sounding preachy. Actually the best romance I have read in a long time. Plan to read more from the talented Terry Blackstock.

I love Terri Blackstock's books. I find I can identify with her characters - I am always sad to finish a book. The best part is knowing that she writes her books in a series, so you can keep up with your favorite characters.

flies on walls tell all! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Rebeccasreads recommends BUG MAN2: CHOP SHOP as a lively & informative mystery about corporate doctors intent on securing a steady supply of body parts, & a young pathologist troubled by the autopsies her supervisor is making her sign-off on.

Dr. McKay finds Nick Pollack, the Bug Man of SHOO FLY PIE, in his greenhouse, & shows him some juicy maggots she's extracted from the latest corpse to cross her table. Together they set out on a trail of clues that will lead them to a firey & fatal finale.

Tim Downs has a hilarious way with words, poking fun of the pomposity of academia & financial tycoons, all the while spinning a gripping yarn. & if the ending, the real ending, leaves a bit to be desired, well, isn't that just like life?

Editorial Review:

An autopsy room is where secrets are revealed...or buried.

Young Dr. Riley McKay has worked hard toward her career in pathology-and now she has secured a fellowship at the renowned Allegheny County Coroner's Office in Pittsburgh. But her promising future is threatened when suspicious activities incriminate her supervising pathologist, Dr. Nathan Lassiter. Bungled autopsies, concealed evidence, and unexplained wounds accumulate at an alarming rate. When Riley is ignored by her seniors and threatened by Dr. Lassiter, she turns in desperation to Dr. Nick Polchak, the Bug Man, to help her uncover the truth.

From a handful of tiny maggots, Nick and Riley begin to unearth the facts, and together they discover that these blunders are not accidents but part of a larger evil that threatens their very lives.

I have read hundreds of books, and never have I walked away feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. Make your guardian angels' job a lot easier, read this book, and stare the devil in the face. Reading this book made me realize how powerful and powerless the devil is. The devil is the father of ALL lies, the bible says. Any and all lies, great and small, are from the devil. Amazing how easy it is to forget that. Like the other reviews on here state, read this book!

Lord Foulgrin's Letters 4 out of 5 stars.

While I enjoyed the book and got a lot from it, it wasn't a page burner for me. It was interesting to see how the enemy twists and uses our human flaws for his good. It really shows the spiritual battle that is always raging on around us. It makes me think about guarding my mind, heart, eyes, and ears from things. If you've wanted to read C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, but just couldn't get through them, then this is a good read for you.
