WOW!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

From one author to another I tip my hat to Terry Blackstock for this supurbly written ROMANCE. How refreshing to read about characters that could live next door instead of with 'the rich and famous.' "Broken Wings" rings with realism and the authentic action and dialogue will often reduce the reader to grab for the tissue box. Masterfully researched, this narrative and its study of fear and its effect on our lives will bring back similiar experiences for many of us. The author offers insight into recovery with out sounding preachy. Actually the best romance I have read in a long time. Plan to read more from the talented Terry Blackstock.

I love Terri Blackstock's books. I find I can identify with her characters - I am always sad to finish a book. The best part is knowing that she writes her books in a series, so you can keep up with your favorite characters.

Love this trilogy and this book is a great start. Dekker is as good as Frank Perreti in the Christian fiction genre. Love the buildup and the situations in this story is gripping, sometimes confusing, but explained in due time later. Great pacing and great storyline. Makes you want the next book now so you can find out what happens next.

Enter an adrenaline-laced epic where dreams and reality collide

Fleeing his assailants through deserted alleyways, Thomas Hunter narrowly escapes to the roof of a building. Then a silent bullet from the night clips his head . . . and his world goes black.

From the blackness comes an amazing reality of another world--a world where evil is contained. A world where Thomas Hunter is in love with a beautiful woman.

But then he remembers the dream of being chased through an alleyway as he reaches to touch the blood on his head. Where does the dream end and reality begin?

Every time he falls asleep in one world, he awakes in the other. Yet in both, catastrophic disaster awaits him . . . may even be caused by him.

Some say the world hangs in the balance of every choice we make. Now the fate of two worlds hangs in the balance of one man's choices.

Predictable 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 6 people found this review helpful.

After reading the 1st book in the series and knowing "whodunit" throughout most of the book, I thought I would give this series another shot. About 50 pages into the book I knew who the criminal was. I never finished this series. However, I have enjoyed other books by Terri Blackstock.

A wonderful Story 5 out of 5 stars.

The story begins in Celia and Stan Shepherd's house on Mill Street in a small city named Newpointe. The day had gone along just as every other day except for the fact that during the night Stan had a horrible stomach ache and was terribly dizzy.
The doctor's do lab work on Stan's blood and they see that he has been poisoned by arsenic. Celia is traumatized and becomes very quiet. When questioned it comes to the front that her previous husband was poisoned the same way and he died. However, she had been the one who had been tried and came very close to being convicted. Fortunately the charges were dropped when one of the lawyers went a little too far and started to sound biased.
Throughout this whole story Celia is trying to put her life back together and she is trying to keep her world from falling down. Her friends and even some of her closest family members turn their backs on her. It seems to her as if someone is trying to sabotage her and trying to make her look very much like the killer. The police officers are convinced that she is the murderer and so are many readers. Throughout the whole story different things are happening and it seems as if every minute something new is happening. As different people are introduced into the story it seems as if the suspects change so you never really know who did it.
The ending is extremely surprising and many other readers agree with me.

I liked this book, but was disturbed by it. By that I mean, the "letters" between Ishbane and Foulgrin made me really start to think at how Satan works on us.

It is a good book for parents to read.

Isbane ... 5 out of 5 stars.

Alcorn is a C.S. Lewis fan and it definitely reads in this book! It is a great book that will open your eyes to the spirit realm. It is a mix between Peretti's This Present Darkness and Lewis's Screwtape Letters. It does have scenes and topics that aren't appropriate for younger audiences. I would love to see this one at the movies!

Peretti weaves a dark story with a bright message 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

After a camping trip gone wrong in Hyde River, Cliff Benson's body is found savagely mutilated. Cliff's wife, Evelyn, escapes but has no recollection of what killed her husband. It's declared a bear attack but Cliff's brother, Steve, feels there's more than what is being told. Steve sets out on his own expedition to find out what exactly killed his brother in Hyde River. But, as Steve ventures further into the town he meets the local characters, Harold Bly, Doug Ellis, Sheriff Collins and a cooky mechanic named Levi Cobb. Steve soon discovers that there is a dark Oath of secrecy protecting the town's deepest and darkest secret.

Sounding more like a Stephen King novel, then a piece of Christian fiction Frank Peretti keeps you on the edge of your seat with his wonderfully dark story of sin in it's truest form. The character's are all believable and everyone seems to play a role in the keeping the secret of the Oath. It's one of those books that you say that after one more page you'll stop reading but the suspense is so intriguing that you can't. Word of warning to anyone who is expecting a happy go-lucky story written by a Christian author: the story is VERY dark. Please don't start this book late at night either. You'll lose some sleep.

Editorial Review:

Under cover of darkness, something evil is at work in Hyde River, an old mining town deep in the mountains. Its latest victim, nature photographer Cliff Benson, was brutally killed while camping -- and his wife Evelyn has been driven nearly mad by what she saw, but she can't remember what it was. The sheriff thinks a rogue bear killed Cliff. But townspeople whisper -- and Cliff's death is just the latest in a long string of bizarre "accidents." Cliff's brother Steve is determined to find out the truth about what's concealed in the old caverns near Hyde River, a mystery that the local folk legends only hint at.

This is Eric's breakout novel! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Eric Wilson has written some of the best Christian novels in recent years. His work is detailed and suspenseful, and it's always just been a matter of time before he found that perfect book that would skyrocket him to the public's attention as he deserves. "Field of Blood" is that novel.

Any author attempting to create what is in essence a Christian vampire novel faces insurmountable odds. Eric has found a perfect balance of speculative fiction suspense with just enough realism thrown in to make us believe it COULD be true. His descriptions of the scenery are vivid and make you feel like you are truly standing in the area (mainly because he actually got to visit many of these spots). He gives us evil villains, but never allows it to overshadow the true power in the story. There IS hope found throughout.

The only thing I hate about this book is the fact that it's the first part of a trilogy and we'll have to wait until next August to find out where it's going from here. One thing is for certain: wherever Eric decides to take the story, it's going to be a thrill ride for all of us!

Definitely pick this one up!

Editorial Review:

Judas hung himself in a place known as the Akeldama or Field of Blood.

But what if his death didn't end his betrayal?

What if his tainted blood seeped deep into the earth, into burial caves, causing a counterfeit resurrection of the dead?

Gina Lazarescu, a Romanian girl with a scarred past, has no idea she is being sought by the undead.

The Collectors, those released from the Akeldama, feed on souls and human blood. But there are also the Nistarim, those who rose from their graves in the shadow of the Nazarene's crucifixion--and they still walk among us, immortal, left to protect mankind.

Gina realizes her future will depend on her understanding of the past, yet how can she protect herself from Collectors who have already died once but still live?

The Jerusalem's Undead Trilogy takes readers on a riveting journey, as imaginative fiction melds with biblical and archaeological history.

Divine Appointment ~Reviewed 4 out of 5 stars.

It was an interesting story but kind of confusing, as Teel went into detail about the inner workings of the Presidency: his assistant and the security team that handles different things for the President. Teel also went through the whole election process of a Judge and the detailed workings of that process.

I found myself checking back to see who was the assistant to the President and who was the Assistant to the Majority speaker. It has many characters and a couple of court room dramas, playing out at the same time along with a couple people getting killed in their investigations. It has a good ending and in parts it was suspenseful.

But you don't leave the book thinking, "Wow - that was good." He has some really good points to make in the book about politics and religion; one being a lawyer who is faced with getting real with Jesus in all areas of his life.

Another Teri Blackstock goodie! This has a different twist from the beginning that is enjoyable. I am a Mary Higgins Clark fan and have found Teri Blackstock to be a comparable author and story teller. I especially appreciate her Christian perspective. It is not overwhelming but realistic about how real Christians live their lives. They are not super people who never have problems but real folks who deal with their problems through their faith in Christ.

Another great story from Terri Blackstock. I tend to stick to Christian authors because I enjoy the content. This book was no different. Terri can shape the characters into anything she desires. This book is full of romance, suspense and intrigue. A who-done-it that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I have now read all the books in this series. I am waiting patiently for another one of her fantastic stories. Thanks Terri.
