I enjoyed this Christian Fanstasy very much 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

As both an author and reader of fiction, I was impressed with "Grail Conspiracy". Maybe it is because I have always enjoyed a book that could hold my attention and make me think at the same time. In a nutshell, the characters are believable and yet a little out of the ordinary and the story line interesting. Give this book a try.
I have also written a book about the cloning of Jesus, but my main story line is ten years in the life of a little girl who was "chosen by God" to be the next Madonna in the second coming of Christ.

Editorial Review:

Winner of Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year Award for Best Mystery. On assignment in the Middle East, television journalist Cotten Stone stumbles upon an archeological dig that uncovers the world's most-sought-after religious relic: the Holy Grail. With his last dying breath, Dr. Gabriel Archer gives it to Cotten, uttering "You are the only one" in a language she's heard from only one other person--her deceased twin sister. What begins as a hot news story for the ambitious young reporter soon turns into a nightmare when the Holy Grail is stolen and strange "accidents" befall her dearest friends. Running for her life, she turns to John Tyler, a priest with firsthand knowledge of religious artifacts, for help. An anonymous source leads them to New Orleans during Mardi Gras, where an abominable experiment is underway that--unless destroyed--promises to unleash an ancient evil upon the Earth.

Great Story With Spiritual Dynamics Throughout 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Heaven's Wager combines suspense, intrigue and spiritual warfare into a compelling novel.

The protagonist, Kent Anthony, loses everything he holds near and dear, much like Job of the Old Testament. Unlike Job, Kent was not a believer at the time. The losses in his life pushed him further away from God. In spite of that, God keeps working on him in a variety of ways.

The spiritual battle rages on while the other human events of the book play out.

It all combines into a page turner story. I have read several of Dekker's novels. Every one of them has been very good. This is no exception.

Editorial Review:

Kent Anthony is a brilliant software engineer who is cashing in on a brilliant career. He's finally living the idyllic life, far from thoughts of theft and murder and other kinds of horrible criminal behavior.

He's left his past far behind . . . or so he thinks.

This story will bring you face to face with a hidden world more real than most people ever realize; a world where the unseen is more powerful than anything seen.

Love this series!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I loved this series! I wasn't sure about reading a Christian Romance but this is so much more. Dee Henderson has a way of making you feel as though they are the real deal and you are right there with the O'Malley's. You'll laugh, cry, and everything in between. Enjoy!!

Good Suspense story. 5 out of 5 stars.

Lisa O'Malley is a forensic pathologist who has a difficult time with Jesus' resurrection. Quinn Diamond is Marcus O'Malley's partner in the U.S. Marshal's Service. He's been trying to get Lisa to go out with him. Unfortunately, pursuing Lisa is going to be almost impossible because he's already asked out her other sisters!

Their paths cross when the cases they are investigating become intertwined. I love how we get to continue to follow the O'Malleys we already know and how we are able to get to know the others before we read their stories. I wish my family was as close as theirs is.

The other O'Malley novels are: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each is a wonderful read!

Editorial Review:

Women are turning up dead. And Lisa O'Malley digging into a crime means trouble is soon to follow. She's a forensic pathologist and mysteries are her domain. Book number three in the O'Malley series brings back Lisa O'Malley and U.S. Marshal Quinn Diamond from The Guardian in a tense investigative thriller. She's not a believer, and her journey toward faith is a fascinating look at how a forensic pathologist views the Resurrection. Quinn has found loving her is easier than keeping her safe. Lisa O'Malley's found the killer, and now she's missing too ...

A little bit deja vu, but an intriquing read 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Having just finished all 6 books in the O'Malley series, they all carry the same theme with an unbelieving O'Malley being attracted to a believing partner. Book #4 is no exception. It's a little bit "been here, done that" with Jack as he meets Cassie. However, Dee Henderson kept my interest in the story line and she definitely did her homework in detailing the life of a fireman. She uses nuances in her writing to make the characters real and keep you attached to them. If you don't mind reading a bit of "same song, different verse", I'd recommend "The Protector" and each of the books in the O'Malley series.

Editorial Review:

Jack O'Malley is a fireman who is fearless when it comes to facing an inferno. But when an arsonist begins targeting his district, his shift, and his friends, Jack faces the ultimate challenge: protecting the one lady who witnessed the arsonist ... Book number four in the O'Malley series brings back Jack O'Malley from The Truth Seeker in a page-turning thriller. It's Christmas. And in this time of celebration, Cassie Ellis has found the real meaning of Christmas; Jack is still searching to understand. Who is Jesus? On that answer rests his hope that someone greater than he is in control of a situation spiraling into terror.

Bug Man Meets Dog Lovin' Lady, Sparks Fly 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Tim Downs doesn't disappoint. I complained last night that I may never finish the book b/c I was laughing at nearly every line. Despite that, I did finish and it's one of those books, I'd actually read again.

Nick is sarcastic as ever, but don't think that that detracts from the other characters in the book. Special Agent Nathan Donovan is back for a semi-meaty cameo. Alena Savard and her reclusive ways are intriguing.

Part of what makes this book excellent is the dialogue and part is the characterization and yet another part is the intricate plot that twists, turns and still thrills. Definitely a worthwhile read. If you're not a Tim Downs fan yet, you will be.

Captivating 5 out of 5 stars.

All of my life I've heard this story. Visited a church where Steve and Mincaye were speaking. Then saw the movie. WOW! Yet, the book was all that and more. Captivating. Inspiring.
The portions that speak of clashing cultures and languages were especially great for me. It helps me to see others as the same as me. To realize that no matter where we live, or how we are taught, there IS a universal human condition, variably expressed in our individual lives and societies.

Editorial Review:

2005 ECPA Retailer's Choice Award winner for best biography/autobiography!
Steve Saint was five years old when his father, missionary pilot Nate Saint, was speared to death by a primitive Ecuadorian tribe. In adulthood, Steve, having left Ecuador for a successful business career in the United States, never imagined making the jungle his home again. But when that same tribe asks him to help them, Steve, his wife, and their teenage children move back to the jungle. There, Steve learns long-buried secrets about his father's murder, confronts difficult choices, and finds himself caught between two worlds. Soon to be a major motion picture (January 2006), End of the Spear brilliantly chronicles the continuing story that first captured the world's attention in the bestselling book, Through Gates of Splendor.

Whispers of the Bayou 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I finished this book yesterday (saying Wow! all the way through). I'm still saying, Wow!!! Mindy gives us several possible suspects and keeps us waiting 'til the end to find the final answer. New information is given throughout until the full picture is revealed. Sometimes I finish a book and wish there were more to it. Not with this one. It has just the right suspense, personal instrospection, and final resolution.

Editorial Review:

From the author of the popular Million Dollar Mysteries and Smart Chick Mysteries comes a new stand–alone novel full of hidden staircases, buried secrets, and the promise of hope found in knowing God.

Miranda Miller wasn’t looking for the news the day the letter came. But, trying to survive in troubled circumstances, she welcomes the chance to change her location for a period of time. The letter informs her that her grandparents’ estate is finally about to become hers. She immediately heads down to Louisiana and the old house by the bayou. There Miranda finds secrets that lead to life–changing revelations.

This suspenseful story reminiscent of old Gothic tales has a complex mystery and a vivid sense of the Deep South. It shows how God can take the darkest circumstances and use them to light a bright path leading to the future.

From J. Kaye's Book Blog 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Spoiler Alert!

FIRST THE DEAD by TIM DOWNS is the third book in the bug man series. Nick Polchak is the bug man, a forensic entomologist. He is part of the DMORT, Disaster Mortuary Response Team.

One day DMORT gets a disaster alert, hurricane Katrina is going to hit Louisiana. Usually there primary objective is to gather bodies so that they can identify them and inform there families, but this time they are sent to rescue survivors. Nick has never been very good with authorities and following the rules, so he and his friend Jerry go looking for bodies.

While trying to find bodies they come across a kid with very good eyesight, and they take him along but the kid, J.T., makes Nick promise to help him find his father. Soon J.T. spots something that catches Nick's attention, floating body. He explains to J.T. that if a boy is floating that means that the person has been dead for a long time. Nick sees something else interesting about the body; it looks as if the person was murdered.

When he takes it back to the DMORT base Denny, the leader of the DMORT, he gets in trouble and a warning to stop bringing in bodies. But that doesn't stop Nick. He soon brings in more bodies and Denny calls in the head of the DEA Turlock. Nick gets yet another warning, but is given the permission to tag the bodies instead of taking them. Nick follows that but then he finds another murdered body and instead of bringing them to the DMORT, he puts it in the bottom floor of an "abandoned" hospital. Little did Nick know that the hospital wasn't abandon and the body is soon discovered. Someone is called in and them traces the body back to Nick. Soon Jerry goes missing and so does J.T. Then Nick is almost murdered. Then deny finally has had it with Nick and he is kicked of the team, but he never goes home. With the help of Beth, his ex-girlfriend, he soon finds out who is after him.

This is the best book I have read in a long time. This combines mystery, comedy, thriller, and suspense all in one book. Normally I always read the first book in the series first, but this time I didn't have to. This book explains itself nicely.

Editorial Review:

When a national disaster strikes, "first the living" is the rule.

Unless you're the Bug Man.

When Hurricane Katrina strikes New Orleans, forensic entomologist Nick Polchak signs up to help with the recovery effort. He is known as the Bug Man for his knowledge of insects and what they can reveal about the dead. The government's mandate is clear--rescue the living first, recover the dead later.

But something is very wrong in the toxic soup-bowl of post-Katrina New Orleans.

Someone is using the cover of disaster to kill...hiding the victims of murder in the same watery grave as the victims of Katrina.

It's a tale only the dead can tell. But no one besides the Bug Man is listening.

good book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Well-written Christian fiction. Not your typical romance or mystery, just a good story. I checked it out at the library and enjoyed it, then bought one here to give as a Christmas gift. Another Robert Whitlow book, Jimmy, is just as good, if not better.

Slow moving with an exciting and powerful end 4 out of 5 stars.

While reading the Mountain Top, I was sometimes bored with it. The author supplied unnecessary details, but I kept reading because I was intrigued by the book's unusual plot. Eventually the Mountain Top became a real page-turner. The plot is carefully executed, and the story is completely believable. Some of the characters, especially Peg, could use more depth. Whitlow did a great job describing the two main characters, though. If you like action, it really picks up toward the end of the story. I liked Whitlow's Life Support Life Support (Santee) quite a bit more than Mountain Top, but Mountain Top is definitely worth reading. Author, With Great Mercy.

Editorial Review:

With this suspenseful, action-packed finale, Oliver North concludes the trilogy that has included his best-selling novels Mission Compromised and The Jericho Sanction.

In 2007, soon after the sixth anniversary of the September 11th attacks on America, Jihadists attack multiple targets in Saudi Arabia, destroying oil pumping equipment, crippling pipelines, and assassinating most of the royal family. In the U.S., gas prices soar to over $6 a gallon along with hyper-inflation across the world financial markets. "Non-business travel" in the U.S. is limited to no more than 500 miles per week.

The UN Security Council authorizes an international intervention force, and in a closed session of Congress the "Assassination Bill" is introduced. General Peter Newman is assigned to head a new "Threat Mitigation Unit," and he is given authority to recruit and train up to 100 specialists for the ominous task at hand--to assassinate terrorists.

It is discovered Iranians plan to detonate a nuke in Washington. Newman and a team are dispatched and a chase across Europe and international waters ensues. Newman hunts his illusive nemesis to Mexico and Cuba, but the Iranians have a backup plan in place and ready a plane repainted as a FedEx cargo jet and armed with a nuclear weapon--headed for Washington.
