I was looking for a more in-depth instruction book for drawing flowers and this wasn't it. I believe this book would be wonderful for young artists just starting to draw.

This book was sent in error. I was purchasing books for two grandsons 10 & 6. I had returned that book but purchased 3 more of her books.

Editorial Review:

Clear, step-by-step illustrations show youngsters and other would-be artists how to use simple shapes to draw realistic likenesses of 30 different garden flowers, among them a sunflower, daisy, rose, morning glory, tulip, daffodil, poinsettia, Easter lily, pansy, jack-in-the-pulpit, bird of paradise, iris, and 18 other lovely blossoms.

high quality learning 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This book teaches how to tell time with minutes in an easy to understand, visual way. I bought this for my 6 year old son and he is learning with ease. The book is very high quality. I also bought several of their other books for gifts and have been very pleased with every one. I highly recommend the Kumon products!

Very Helpful 4 out of 5 stars.

We liked it. Dd age 6 at the time thought the beginning exercises were too easy so we skipped those. I appreciated the concentrated study of time concepts and my dd liked the colorful format.

Excellent!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book teaches children how to tell the time in the most simplistic, yet effective way, that even a child who has trouble learning will get it! The graphics are very appealing yet do not distract from the subject matter being taught. When a child has completed this book, they will be able to tell any time on an analog clock. I would recommend completing all of the pages, even if the first few seem a bit easy. These pages help to reinforce the concept of telling time and lets the child build confidence for the lessons that come later.

Editorial Review:

This second book in the Telling Time sequence helps children learn how to tell time down to the minute. By using a variety of different activities to keep children engaged, this workbook helps children learn this difficult skill without feeling frustrated or anxious.

Note to Teen Librarians: Great Book for Program! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I am having a back to school program for my teens at the Library teaching them how to make easy and delicious after-school snacks. This is a great book. Just looking at the flyers I have up, they are psyched that we will be making snacks created (and taste approved) by teens. The recipes are easy, the ingredients are easy to find, and the best part is these will be healthier for them than microwavable, perservative-riddled frozen "snacks." I also like that there is a section on breakfast food since many teens tend to skip this very important meal. The cool thing is that a lot of the breakfast recipes (like the scones and even the breakfast casserole) can be made in advance and grabbed when their scurrying out the door.

Editorial Review:

Teens Cook is an instructional cookbook that teaches young adults how to make great meals and be confident and independent in the kitchen. Authors Jill and Meghan Carle are teenage sisters with nothing much in common when it comes to food except that they both know how to cook really well. Together, this dynamic duo have created more than 75 recipes for breakfasts, snacks, sides, family meals, dinners for one and desserts.

Better than your average sticker book! 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

When I first looked at the title/price of this book, I thought it was overpriced for a sticker book. But then I actually leafed through it and saw it was so much more. This isn't your typical coloring book where you add a few stickers. This is like a real book where you get to add the photos. My son (age 7) LOVED it. Once the stickers were all placed, we removed the empty sticker sheets and he's been reading it over and over just like a regular book. These DK books are awesome.

STICKER BOOK 4 out of 5 stars.

i BOUGHT THIS BOOK FOR MY 4 YEAR OLD SON. NOT ONLY DID IT HELP HIM WITH NAMING ALL STAR WAR FIGURES IT HELPED ME GET TO KNOW THEM AS WELL!

Very Dissapointed 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I saw this and thought it would be a great gift for my Nephew for Christmas. He loves Star Wars. From the discription I thought it would be a pretty good size. It was maybe 5 pages and was well above someone who would be 2 let alone a 8 year old. This would be better described as a waiting room sticker book rather than a deluxe sticker book.

Editorial Review:

Rediscover the excitement of the original Star Wars movies and create your own picture book using the characters, vehicles, and spacecraft found in this book. More than 60 superb full color stickers let Star Wars fans get into the action, and each section includes key information on favorite characters and creatures.

Fun For The Whole Family! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have purchased the "I Spy" books for my daughters since they were little girls - one is now in high school and the other one is in college and they still enjoy these books. We like to have races to see who can find all of the objects first! A must have for everyone.

These are great books 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The Eye Spy books are great. They have pictures of different objects, for example a store window, and a riddle. You have to find the objects listed in the riddle.

Some of them are difficult and require some creative thinking. For example; it might say a nail and you have to remember there are nails in the wall and nails on a hand. Some you just have to have a good eye for detail. You might have to find three fish and one might be a real fish, one a button fish and one a cloud shaped like a fish.

My son who is seven enjoys these and revels in finding all fo the objects. We like to do it as a family to see if we can find every object under a set time or a race to see who can find all the objects first. Sometimes we make up our own riddles for a page and then try to find the objects.

Enjoy.

Editorial Review:

This bestselling book features a collection of favorite I Spy riddles that send readers searching 12 photographs for hidden objects.

not as great 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We own the Dim Sum book by the same author, and the Sushi book is not as great. The pictures are still wonderful, but the words don't flow as easily, and the last line of the book ends on the back cover. That's a little confusing for my 22-month-old. With the Dim Sum book, there is a strong rhythm and an easy rhyme, which makes my child speak the last word on every page. Not so in the Sushi book.

Unfulfilled 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I was excited to see a book about a topic like sushi available for the young set, and after reading the great reviews, I ordered it and looked forward to its arrival. But... I was underwhelmed. The artwork is interesting, but the cadence is very uneven. Three stars for a great, fun topic, but not four or five because it was less clever and less of a fluid read than I expected. Catchy idea more than catchy overall. That said, because it is unique and is fun to look at, and because there were one or two pages that were great fun, "Hot, hot, hot," I would purchase it again.

Editorial Review:

For the littlest fans of that favorite Japanese finger food comes a sturdy board book sure to inspire giggles (and even some growling stomachs!). Sanger’s textural, mixed media and cut paper collages form an ideal accompaniment to her bouncy rhyming text to captivate/fascinate even the most finicky eaters. Whether a temaki know-it-all or clueless about ebi, First Book of Sushi is a welcome side dish for nori experts and novices of all ages.

If you're a visual learner this book is an excellent addition to any physiology course. It's actually fun and it really does reinforce what you're learning.

Physiology Coloring Book 5 out of 5 stars.

The coloring book is extremely helpful. There were some aspects of Physiology that I was having a difficult time grasping simply reading material from text books and listening to lectures, the coloring book has made understanding many concepts "childs play". I highly recommend this as a supplement to any anatomy/physiology (or even biology) course.

Best coloring 5 out of 5 stars.

As an A&P teacher, I find that students who use this physiology coloring book get it faster and retain the info longer than any other. It is much more accurate than other physiology coloring books. Highly recommended!

Editorial Review:

Designed for self-study, this book fosters active, visual learning through coloring exercises. Logically organized by body system, the exercises with accompanying explanatory text, provide a comprehensive overview of physiology concepts.

Kris the bus driver 1 out of 5 stars.
15 of 16 people found this review helpful.

This is undoubtably the worst jokes you could find. Most children would not even understand the nuances as you have to read the text rather than tell the joke. For instance, "What is the name of the superhero who loves clam chowder? Answer: Souperman." Tell that to a child and see if they laugh! Another example, "Where is the best place to find out the exact weight of a pie? Answer: Somewhere over the rainbow . . . weigh a pie." This joke book is really bad and NOT recommended for anyone. One final example; "What goes, 'Gloom, doom, boom'? Answer: A rhyme bomb." Yuck, yuck.

Rocks 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book is filled with Groaners. I like it a lot. A bit heavy on the Vampire and werewolf jokes, but you can still find some quality here. Good for kids or some classic eye rolls at a dinner party of adults.

Editorial Review:

Especially for young funny-bones, here is a brand-new collection from the master of the hilarious joke himself, Jeff Rovin. Children of all ages will appreciate this incredible assemblage of the most hysterical jokes on all kinds of subjects. Original.

Just OK 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Review by Sherry North, Author, Because You Are My Baby

Eric Carle is a favorite in our house, but this is one of his weaker titles. The illustration of the spider spinning her web barely changes from one page to the next, and there's no clever twist that "makes" the book, like in A Very Hungry Caterpillar. After reading it to our son once, he never seemed interested in looking at it again - but he does ask for Carle's other books often.

the very busy spider 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My son had a copy of this that he had to return. He had the paperback with the raised web that you could trace with your fingers. Grandma bought a replacement which was a flap book instead..... just wasn't the same, so we bought the paperback on line, and it was the immediate success of the past.......

Editorial Review:

Early one morning a little spider begins to spin her web on a fence post. In this multi-sensory book, children can feel the pictures as well as see them, while they hear or read the easy rhythmic text. Alongside the visual excitement of Eric Carle's vibrant collages of familiar animals is the tactile experience of feeling the spider's web as it grows from a simple line into a complex and beautiful creation - a perfect story for reading aloud and sharing.

Ideal for a Fairy Party 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is a lovely children's cookbook. Yes, it's fairly small, but it has 30 recipes--I wasn't expecting the Joy of Cooking for children or anything. My daughter wanted a fairy birthday party, and I used a number of the recipes--they were all delicious, and I saw more that we'll be trying in the future. I particularly liked the Magic Bonbon Cookies and the cupcakes decorated like mushrooms. What I also really like about the book is that you can have spring/summer or fall/winter themed recipes--nice, depending on what time of year your child's birthday is.

The recipes lean more heavily towards sweets, but there are savories in there as well. I think the book is especially appealing since kids love tiny food. The recipes would be fun to liven up an ordinary rainy-day tea party as well.

I recommend this one and am planning to order the Mermaid one as well!
