Good Book (and this comes from a Patriot's fan) 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I debated whether to write a review or not - as a Patriot's and Sox's fan.
Well, I think the book is pretty good. It is a simple life story that could have happened to many kids, and maybe many adults too - not knowing their purpose in life.
As the book tells us:
Be free to dream,
Have faith, and
God will answer in HIS most magical way.

Motivation for children 5 out of 5 stars.

A true to life and feel good book you want your children to read. A great family book. Parris Martin

YES YOU CAN! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

You Can Do It! YES, You Can! Tony helps guide his little brother, Linden, to determine his dream. Tony follows the example of his parents by putting faith, self-reflection, along with the love and support of family to the test. Even though Linden acts up at school (sometimes) the positive reinforcement from his devoted family helps him see God's plan for his life. As Linden discovered his dream and when he did the support of positive community leaders and his family made all the difference.

This Christian based book was written for children ages 4-8. However, this inspirational story can be enjoyed by young old alike. The remarkable illustrations will provide hours of enjoyment for the kids in any household - especially young African American boys. There are several points in the book that should have everyday occurrences in households across America - committed families, prayer at dinner, active in sports, and striving daily towards a dream. Share this fantastic story with kids and help them achieve their dreams - whatever they may be.

Editorial Review:

Tony Dungy's little brother, Linden, is a third grader who is having a bad day at school. Linden is the youngest of the Dungy family and the least motivated because he hasn't found "it." In a family where everyone seems to have found their special talent, all Linden knows is that he wants to make people happy.

With encouragement from his parents, a helping hand from his older brother Tony, and inspiration from God, Linden learns that if he dreams big and has faith, he can do anything!

It's still in print! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I read this book as a child over and over again in the 1960's. I read it so often, the spine fell apart and I lost the first 20 pages. I didn't think this small book would still be in print--but it is! My grandparents were from Norway, I have visited there several times and recall conversations with relatives about hardships during the Nazi occupation. The book reflects the national pride the Norwegians feel for their country and the risks they were willing to take to do what was right - not easy, but right. I still have the book--now I can read the first 20 pages! This book is one of the most memorable books I read as a child--and I read alot!! The story has stayed with me.

Editorial Review:

Based on a true story, Snow Treasure is a tale of heroism set in Norway during World War II.This amazing book, continuously in print since 1942, tells how brave schoolchildren outwitted the invading Nazis. To keep their country’s gold out of Nazi hands, the children sledded thirteen tons of gold bricks down the mountain to a waiting ship. The appearance of innocent winter fun fooled the Nazis, and the gold was taken safely to America.

Beautiful illustrations perfectly capture the nostalgic tone and bring this thrilling adventure to life in an attractively priced gift edition.

Football dog! 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This book is so good. The dog steals football plays to make his owner's team win. They win a lot of games with his help. One day Mike told his dog not to come with him and he didn't. Guess what happened then? Read this book to figure it out. You'll love it.

1st grade football fanatic could not put the book down 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

My newly-reading first grader couldn't put the book down. He finished the 47 or so pages in no time. The vocabulary was challenging, the plot interesting and the illustrations "grown up." It would be interesting to boys and girls, football fans and non-fans alike.

If your child is not reading at the 1st grade level and able to decipher a few words like "triumphant" and "defenseman", I recommend Leonard Kessler's "Kick, Pass and Run." The difficult words are one's like "receiver" or "touchdown." Would work for a younger early reader. Note that it is easier, but still about 64 pages long.

An excellent book for little football fans 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Both of our sons love sports. And both have loved this book. It's simple, easy to understand and easy to enjoy. I, and my boys, like it because the stars are the animals, and the little boys that play football. The pictures are simple and descriptive enough to convey the message and the story moves along quickly enough to keep short attention spans occupied. We've read Kick pass and Run hundreds of times in the last 4 years, and now that we own a copy of it ourselves, we'll probably read it twice as often.

Editorial Review:

Rabbit was the first one to hear it.
Duck was the first one to
see it.
Cat was the first one to
feel it.

But what is it? It turns out to be a football, and it leads the animal friends to discover the exciting game of football.

Young sports fans have cheered Kick, Pass, and Run for thirty years. Now Leonard Kessler has reillustrated his classic I Can Read Book in full color, bringing this popular tale to a new generation of beginning readers.

For The Kid Who Dreams Hockey 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful book for your little hockey star. Filled with beautiful vibrant pictures and following an excellent story, this is a must have for your kid.

Editorial Review:

Nearly all kids who learn to play hockey dream of becoming a hockey star. In this book, Kimberly Jo Simac shows beginning hockey players that this dream can become a reality. Beautifully illustrated, this book introduces budding young hockey players to the sport's team spirit, challenges and rewards.

Through this rhythmic story, youngsters will learn that hockey is a life-long journey that requires committment and dedication. They also will discover that for team players who learn to accept defeat and graciously claim victory, the rewards are great.

Hockey is a great sport that encourages families to spend time together. It leaves an indelible stamp on the lives of all dedicated players. It allows hockey stars to shine, not only on the ice, but also in many other arenas of life.

When I Grow Up I'm Going To Be A Hockey Star is a book for all who love to skate or who dream of it.

A Great Book For Kids 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I coach a team of 8 through 10 year old girls, and I bought the book hoping to find an explanation for offside that kids that age could understand.

While that element was only so-so, I found that the book is a great resource for kids in many areas of the game. Truth is, I personally learned some things (like the "Argentina" free kick play) from this book as well.

Some things I liked:
- Most of the book is written in simple terms (there are a couple areas that might confuse kids)
- Puzzles and games and such to keep kids' attention
- Many areas of the game covered from rules to technique

Some things I didn't like:
- While it is for kids, it is not clearly geared to any particular age group, so there are parts that are too complicated for younger kids and still other parts that would seem too "childish" to older kids (overall, I felt it would be most useful to the 8 and 9 year olds on my team).
- The puzzles and games don't do anything to reinforce the information learned in the book. They are just for entertainment.

Overall a very good book, and for 8 bucks, it's definitely worth a buy if soccer is your kid's thing.

Ty Lewis can't believe it when Coach V recruits him for the football team. This is Ty's big chance to prove how fast he is on the field, get a fresh start in a new school, and be like his older brother, Thane "Tiger" Lewis, who's about to graduate from college—and is being courted by the NFL.

But Ty's guardian, Uncle Gus, won't let him play. Uncle Gus needs Ty to scrub floors and toilets for his cleaning business while he cooks up gambling schemes with the local mob boss, a man called "Lucy."

When Lucy hears just how famous Ty's older brother is, he becomes suddenly friendly. Desperately worried, Ty must come up with a plan to save Thane's football career—and, ultimately, his life.

Author of the New York Times bestselling Football Genius, former NFL player Tim Green will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for Ty—and enjoying an up-close look at what it's like to be inside the NFL.

The last Magic Tree House that I read was Hour of the Olympics. I liked it because it had a lot of interesting facts about the early olympics. I thought it was funny that some people wore armor when they ran in races! I suggest that you read this book!

MY BOY LOVES READING 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

It's become a nightly tradition 5 out of 5 stars.

My four year old son is in love with this chapter series! A friend suggested it to us since he seemed ready for a more advanced reading material at bedtime. My husband reads him a chapter every night...sometimes more because they don't want to stop. It's become a great tradition for them, and something they both look forward to. We love that there are so many in the collection! Start with number 1 and just continue. :)

This book is about two twins that love the game of football, but one of the twins is handicaped. When his other brother plays in the football games, they switched their minds and the twin that was normal would be sitting in the wheelchair. I think that this book is very good. Its not the greatest, but its good for kids like in the middle school or junior high.

Editorial Review:

Twelve-year-old Michael, confined to a wheelchair after an accident, uses mental telepathy to communicate football plays to his quarterback twin brother Tom, then suddenly finds himself on the field in his brother's place.
