Exciting book 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This exciting book starts when Keith Steadman drops the winning pass. He decides not to play football anymore because he feels like a loser. He has nightmares every night about the dropped pass. It is a good story because it shows how he overcomes his mistake with his family's help. I think you should read this book to find out more!

ALL EYES ARE ON ME 5 out of 5 stars.

"All eyes were on me. I fell to the ground with the football right beside me. I hated myself. This is a quote from Football Nightmare.

I liked this book. What I liked about the book is that Keith doesn't gives up. I can relate him, because I dropped a pass one time. I like Matt Christopher; he is a good writer. This is one of his best books. I also like Undercover Tailback and The Shortstop From Tokyo.

Editorial Review:

Keith Stedman dropped the game-winning, undefeated-record-making pass that would have made him a hero instead of a loser. Still haunted by his gaffe, he's considering quitting football for good. His friends and family convince him to stick with it, but his troubles are far from over. Another player seems determined to do everything he can to keep the bad memory alive in the minds of his teammates-including Keith. Can Keith overcome his own obsession with the past and succeed in the present?

One of my favorites 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I love this book! I have read it so many times, my book has fallen apart, and I have had to purchase a new one. This book is such a touching story about courage and the love between siblings. I am a football fan which does help, but even those who don't understand the game of football, can understand this story of compassion and selfless giving. I don't care how many times I read this book, I cry at the end, even though I know what is coming. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Editorial Review:

Together, they won college football's highest award.

This is a true, memorable, compassionate story of courage and love between two brothers. In 1973, while John Cappelletti was winning the Heisman Trophy as the outstanding college football player in America, his younger brother Joey was suffering from leukemia. But John, now a running back for the Los Angeles Rams, had a very special medicine for Joey. It was called touchdowns. And John scored them in bunches because they were "Something for Joey." The story of the Cappelletti family is a story of courage you will never forget.

The book title says it all 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This a small book full of football facts, just as the title says. There are no pictures or diagrams, and not many references to famous players. It's a lot of stats, like what the score of the first Army vs. Navy game was or who has the most rushing yards at a Super Bowl. My fact-loving 9 year old likes the book, but there's not much here for younger kids. This book is more like a traditional encyclopedia focused on football, and definitely for the older crowd.

Editorial Review:

Pablo loves playing flag football with his friends, but he isn’t quite as good as all of the other kids. He practices all of the time and his heart is really in it, but he gets intimidated and always seems to mess up during the games. When the team’s quarterback hurts his ankle during the biggest game of the season, a very nervous Pablo has to take his place. Will Pablo be able to overcome his fears?

The book The Long Arm Quarterback is a good book. In the book they start a six man football team. There team is pretty good but they are not the best team in the leage. There are three or more book on football that Matt Christopher has writen. I would like to read more books on football that Matt Christopher has writen.

Totally Unqualified to Write This Book 1 out of 5 stars.
7 of 24 people found this review helpful.

You must be kidding me! I cannot think of a single person in the universe less qualified to write a book about sharing. Owens puts himself before the team, tears down teammates and coaches, and has created poisonous environments on two teams (49ers and Eagles). He shouts out "I love me some me!" on the sidelines during games. This is not someone who should be held up as an example to our kids.

Not gramatically correct...only for TO fans 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book for my nephew since he's a T.O. fan. When I got it I thought it was cute and had a good lesson in the story. I would say however that it's not the most gramatically correct book so I didn't think that was the best lesson for kids. I wouldn't recommend it for other children unless they're a T.O. fan. If so then it's fine and they'll really like it I'm sure.

Editorial Review:

Young children will learn an important and valuable lesson about sharing through this wonderfully illustrated and fun book written by NFL star Terrell Owens. Little T is a boy who doesn't want to share his new football; he is afraid that his friends might mess it up. When he tries to play by himself, however, he realizes that football isn't any fun alone. Thanks to his mother's good advice, he wins back his friends, and learns the virtue of sharing and the importance of being fair.

Editorial Review:

Blind golfing, anyone?

Edward Bogard - Bogie for short - may be blind, but he can learn just about anything he sets his mind to: riding a bike, parasailing, playing guitar. Even though many things come easily to him, he stunned when he hits at a driving range and finds he has the swing of a pro.  But blind golfing is a team sport, and Bogie needs a coach.

Enter Birdie, the kooky and mysterious girl next door. A bit of a loner, Birdie creates elaborate worlds in miniature in her basement, and has managed to make it to age twelve without learning to ride a bike.

Then someone anonymously enters Bogie in a golf tournament-with a million dollar prize.  If he can team up with Birdie to conquer the greens of Hawai'i, could she be the unlikely key to victory?

"Gutman has another winner here...younger YAs and reluctant readers will enjoy this suspenseful and often funny tale."--KLIATT

A delightfully different Thanksgiving story, refreshingly light on holiday sentimentality 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

One of Ethan's earliest memories is a long-ago Thanksgiving when he was very small --- too small to go out to play in his extended family's traditional Turkey Bowl football game. That year, it was so cold outside that everyone called the game the "Ice Bowl." They wore layer upon layer of clothes, and their hair was white with frost. Ethan, along with his best friend Alex and the rest of the small neighbor kids, cheered the game on even as they shivered in the frigid air.

One year, Ethan remembers, it rained so hard on Thanksgiving that the football field turned into muck. That year, the family nicknamed the Turkey Bowl the "Mud Bowl," but they had a fabulous time anyway. One aunt slid through the mire to make a touchdown, and a cousin splashed 20 yards for another one. Again, Ethan had been one of a cheering crowd of wet but happy too-small-to-play football fans.

The "Fog Bowl" happened last year. Ethan was still just a tiny bit too small to play that gray day. Players found fog football confusing; they couldn't figure out which way to run because they couldn't see in the mist. Ethan, Alex and the neighbor kids could only hear some of the plays, but they cheered like crazy.

At long last, finally, when Thanksgiving Day rolls around, Ethan is actually old enough to play in the Turkey Bowl --- and his anticipation is beyond words. So that morning, as the holiday food fragrances waft through his house, Ethan scrambles into his football jersey and pants, his heart thumping fast with excitement.

When he bursts into the kitchen, shouting with glee, he sees all the usual Thanksgiving kitchen sights: turkey and ham ready for the oven, squash soup simmering, heaps of stuffing, and an assembly line working on a variety of pies. However, what he doesn't see is what he is the most anxious to find: his Turkey Bowl teammates. Only Mom, Dad and Grandpa are in the kitchen. When he asks where all the relatives are, he finds out that the roads are not passable because of a blizzard, so they are unable to come. Ethan can't believe it. The year he and his friends are old enough to play in the Turkey Bowl, there isn't going to be one.

He and Alex spread the word throughout the neighborhood. The downcast youngsters all gather at the school to stare at the snowy football field. But then Ethan gets an idea that just may save the Turkey Bowl...

This is a delightfully different Thanksgiving story, refreshingly light on holiday sentimentality. Kids are sure to relate to Ethan's disappointment and then cheer at his solution (and are unlikely to notice that the resolution comes maybe just a shade too easily). Small football fans will be especially enthralled. The illustrations are particularly pleasing; each picture tells a story, capturing emotions and details in a way that may remind parents of Norman Rockwell's paintings.

Editorial Review:

It's Thanksgiving, and that means it's time for...football!

Ethan has waited his whole nine-year-old life to be old enough to play in the annual family Turkey Bowl football game. This is his year. He wakes up Thanksgiving Day, dresses in all of his football finest, and runs downstairs to greet the team -- his whole family.

But the kitchen isn't full of aunts and cousins and uncles -- a blizzard has snowed them out. And it looks like the Turkey Bowl just isn't meant to be this year. After all, who could play football in a blizzard?

Ethan, that's who!

I simply could NOT put this book down. After turning the last page, I was emotionally wrung out. I had laughed, cried, sat on the very edge of my seat... I can't WAIT for the sequel!!

This itty bitty book is great for itty bitty hands 5 out of 5 stars.

My son, now 14 months, loves this book. We would read it to him when he was an infan, and now he loves to flip through it by himself and "read" it outloud. It's just the right size, and the content is simple and colorful.

Great Gift 4 out of 5 stars.

A great gift book for infants or preschoolers. Some fans might be upset that not all teams are represented! But why not teach your child the color gold with a picture of a Super Bowl ring?

Shy Violet, but Otherwise Excellent 4 out of 5 stars.

My 11 month daughter loves this book. The colors in the pictures are so vivid. I do think it is a little strange that violet/purple is not represented, but we like the book anyway. Lifting the flaps is a nice change of pace if you're like us and read a lot of touch and feel books. It's a good value for the price and would make a nice gift.

Editorial Review:

These fun-filled sticker books are also great teaching tools. Young children will learn the basic concepts of shapes, sorting, opposites, and colors while they match the stickers to their appropriate places.
