Not so harmless 2 out of 5 stars.

Cute? Parts are. Harmless teen read? Not really. Grace is 15 years old and spending the night with her boyfriend in his cabin while her aunt enjoys a fling with the bodyguard.

Fair 3 out of 5 stars.

This young adult book is a nice read - basically harmless and cute!

No big revelations and not a horrible read - kind of vanilla - enjoyable and forgettable.

Amazing Book 5 out of 5 stars.

This YA book puts the emphasis in all the right places. Meet our heroine, she's young, she's a superstar, and she's got it all. Money, success, designer clothes, designer bags, and a rockstar lifestyle and yet she suddenly realized she's not happy. Why? Because she wants a regular life. A life of substance. A life with friends and boys and high school. Great book, great author.

Editorial Review:

Grace Kincaid, the Anna Kournikova of the tennis world (beautiful, teenaged, and the BEST in the world), calls her mother on the eve of the U.S. Open and says three little words: "I want out." Whereupon her mother flies to her daughter's side, cancels all further engagements, endorsements, press conferences, tournaments, and gives Grace an entirely new identity. Which includes a make-under, a former FBI agent as a mentor and bodyguard, and a new life in Medicine Hat, Alaska—population 813.

The Million Dollar Kick 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Genre: Fiction
Three sentence summary: In this book Whisper Nelson is chosen to kick a ball past a professional soccer player and if she makes it, she is awarded $1,000,000. There's just a little problem: she is not athletic. She has not played a sport since she was eight.

What I liked most about the book: The thing I like about this book is that Whisper has a chance to win $1,000,000.

What I didn't like and why: The only thing that I didnt like about the book was that it was about soccer and I do not like soccer very much.

My favorite character and why: Whisper Nelson because she wasn't very athletic but she still tried. (why wouldn't you if you made the goal you can win $1,000,000.)

The scene, line, or passage that meant something to me and why (page#): Well it was probably when she was getting ready to kick the goal. It's exciting to kick a ball and if you score you win $1,000,000 dollars.

What I would say about this book to someone else: That it's nice that the characters are realistic and the author Dan Gutman discribed the setting very well.

One question i have after reading this book: I wonder if the soccer player became good friends with Whisper Nelson.

My strongest reason for recommending this book: Well if you like sports you would be very interested.

Editorial Review:

Whisper Nelson’s mental videotape remembers everything—including scoring a point for the opposing team in her last soccer match four years ago (yikes!). So when she wins a chance to kick a goal past a professional soccer goalie for a million dollars, she’s torn. Should she risk further embarrassment in front of all of Oklahoma City—and worse, in front of her middle school? Win or lose, taking the million dollar kick might be just what Whisper needs to make her dreams come true.

First golf book 1 out of 5 stars.
12 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I returned this book because it has absolutely nothing to do with golf--sand castles in the bunker and kids rolling around on the green. I guess adding lightning to the rainstorm might have taught one lesson in the book. It certainly doesn't portray the behavior I want from my children on or near a course.

A fun and charming story! 5 out of 5 stars.

What a charming book...and quite fun to read. It is a great book for the beginning reader. My first-grader loves that she can read it herself. The illustrations are so colorful and fun, even my 2 year old is captivated by the pictures. A great find!

Excellent Book That Get's Your Child Interested in Golf!! 5 out of 5 stars.

My boys love the book, they want to read every night. They love to find tweeter the bird on each page. The book does a nice job at making Golf sound FUN, obviously the most important thing for your child to learn.

Editorial Review:

Join four young kids on a fun-filled day of discovery on the golf course. My First Golf Book is a charming, colorful, hardcover picture book and a great first-reader. Share the game you love with the little ones in your life!

A low in children's book writing 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

If you want to appreciate how bad, simplistic, and lacking in imagination this book is, pick up any classic children's title, read it first, then read "Hello, Wally."

We received this as a gift for our newborn son since we're both Red Sox fans. We thought it would be great. After giving it a whirl, I don't think we'll be reading this to our son in the future. It's boring, plain and simple. And if you ever thought to yourself, "Gee, I could write something like this!," well, with this book that's actually probably true.

Look, I love Jerry Remy as a baseball announcer. He is incomparably and endlessly entertaining on NESN-- I don't think anyone could replace him. But please, for the love of God, no more children's books, Remdawg!

Simple but fun 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Nobody's going to confuse this book with great children's literature -- the text on each page consists mainly of people saying "Hello, Wally!" to Wally as he goes about his business before, during, and after a game at Fenway park. The illustrations are very cute though. It's a good choice for Sox fans with very young children. (The listed age range is 4-8, but it's completely appropriate for parents to read to babies and toddlers.)

This is a wonderful book for young children. Helps children to understand something about the game that obsesses their parents. Also a fun way for kids to learn their ABC's. Beautiful illustrations and fun rhymes. Also highly recommended is the author's companion book: Count on Golf

Help toddlers learn the alphabet while learning the game of golf! The ABC's of Golf uses common golf terms and objects to teach the alphabet to children. This is the perfect gift for that grandchild, niece, or nephew. Hardback; 35 pages.

Love this book! 5 out of 5 stars.

My 2-year-old daughter LOVES this book. I often find her in her room reading to herself, saying, "Frog goes, "Weee!" Duck goes, 'Flap!" Down by the cool of the pool!" She reads it 100 times a day, and makes me read it at least three times, too. I highly recommend it

Our favorite 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

My 2 year old daughter LOVES this book. She has almost memorized it word for word and has made up hand motions to go with it. It is a lively, adorable rhyme and the colorful illustrations are wonderful.

Editorial Review:

There's flipping and flopping, splishing and splashing, wiggling and waggling down by the cool of the pool. Frog, Duck, Horse, Pig, and the rest of the gang dance and sing their way through this wacky, watery wonderful story told with a catchy rhyming text and bold, vibrant illustrations. The fun is positively infectious, and you just may find yourself dancing and singing along with Frog and his frolicking friends. Children will delight in this rollicking farmyard romp, an adventure in musical activity--perfect for the nonstop toddler.

Arthur Learns Teamwork 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Children who are ready for their first chapter books will enjoy reading about Arthur's adventures on his ball team. The story is written in a fast-paced style with a lot of dialogue, so most kids will zip through it in no time. The book's emphasis on teamwork and encouraging others just makes the story that much more worthwhile. Great for kids, regardless of whether they are Arthur fans.

Bad Vacation 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Berenstain Bears and to much vacation is about when one of our favorite bear families go on a vacation to a mountain cabin. The ad in the paper said it was by crystal lake and came with a rowboat, it did but will this be a wonderful vacation, or a jump in the mud, or maybe a little of both? Find out when you read The Berenstain Bears and To Much Vacation.

About the Berenstian Bears 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The Berenstain bears was a fun and good book to read for me. After I read this book it made me think of when my family and I go on vacation. This book might take a child quit a while to read because there where a lot of words on each page but they would like this book. The book was mainly about Papa bear having a good time and the rest of the family not really enjoying not having electricity and relying on the woods for food and supplies. When they finally arieve the place is a mess and the lake was crappy. The first night of sleep did not work out too well with all of the animals making noise. The next day Papa bear had now luck catching fish and there was a big rain storm which gave the family pleanty of reason to go home. The Bears where never so happy to see their tree house. This was a good book nothing special about it just a fimly out on vacation with not much to do.

Editorial Review:

The family getaway is a disaster: the cabin's roof leaks, the lake is muddy, and the mosquitoes are ravenous. But when the bears return home and develop their snapshots, they laugh and laugh, fully enjoying the worst vacation they've ever had!

Great Baseball Story 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

In this edition of Amelia Bedelia, Peggy Parish has done another wonderful job at telling a wonderful story. Amelia Bedelia is making an attempt to play baseball, and she has managed to take the lessons literally, as always. She learns stealing bases are okay and putting players out. This is a favorite in my household, and we laughed at Amelia Bedelia's attempts of playing baseball.

Our favorite part was when she hit the winning run, 'stole' every single base along the way, and she ran home like everyone told her to with all the bases. The kids were wonderful in this story and patient, and it was a fantastic read.

I recommend the Amelia Bedelia books for every household. Amelia Bedelia is a fun character, and it will make the kids laugh.

Joy.

Amelia Bedelia "literally" plays the game of baseball 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Not since Abbot asked Costello "Who's on First?" has the national pastime been taken so literally. Taking things literally is precisedly what Amelia Bedelia has been doing ever since she first became a housekeeper. Tell her to "Dust the furniture" and she will dutifully find the Dusting Powder and do as she was told, even though at her house they undust the furniture. In Peggy Parish's "Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia," the Grizzlies baseball team is in trouble when one of their players gets sick and they need a replacement for their big game with the Tornadoes. Who steps up to the plate to save the day up the literal-minded Amelia Bedelia.

The fun, of course, comes when the kids tell Amelia Bedelia to tag a runner or make a base hit. Then there is the uniform that she comes up with (you need a uniform to play baseball, right?). The illustrations by Wallace Tripp capture the fun as Amelia Bedelia plays the game of baseball like nobody has ever played it before. Besides, you should see what Amelia Bedelia looks like when she swings a bat. Fortunately, one things she knows how to do right is to fix an empty cookie jar because she makes really great cookies (although she has doubts about using home plate to serve them on to her teammates). Fans of Peggy Parish's creation will enjoy seeing her on the baseball diamond while there might be some fans of the sport who will be introduced to the literally-minded housekeeper for the first time.

Editorial Review:

Guess who's at bat?

The lovable, hilarious amelia Bedelia is back, filling in for a sick player on the Grizzlies baseball team. Watch out! Because nobody plays ball like Amelia Bedelia.
