Always a winner! 5 out of 5 stars.

Patricia Polacco's style and warmth comes through again! Her words bring you into the story with ease and you find yourself watching a family situation unfold. Hanging onto every word so you will not miss any of the action, you become part of the story. This story involves her brother, Rotten Richie and a very valuable lesson taught by their mother for both of them when they were younger. It's a normal part of childhood that all siblings encounter but the human element evolves sharing with the reader that no matter what, respect comes through when you are in someone else's shoes. As always, photos from her childhood gives the personal touch readers crave for.

Editorial Review:

Seems like Richie’s entire goal in life is to make Trisha’s impossible. Especially when he takes to teasing her about her beloved ballet class. Trisha knows how much work it takes to be good at ballet—much more than the stupid hockey Richie plays! So she challenges Richie to perform in her ballet recital, and Richie agrees, under one condition: Trisha has to join his hockey team for the big game!

This hilarious follow-up to My Rotten Red- Headed Older Brother is a sibling swap of slippers and skates that will leave you cheering for both sides.

Danny & The Dinosaur 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is another terrific book by Syd Hoff that brings back childhood memories. I loved it then and I still love it now. My kids enjoy reading this book over and over again. It is filled with colorful pictures and the story line is so cute and fun. Another great book by Syd Hoff.

Editorial Review:

Danny loves dinosaurs. When he sees one at the museun and says, "It would be nice to play with a dinosaur," a voice answers, "And I think it would be nice to play with you." So begins Dannys and the dinosaur's wonderful adventure together!

But a dinosaur is no ordinary playmate. Even the most everyday activities become extraordinary, like finding a big-enough place to hide a dinosaur in a game of hide-and-seek, and keeping him from knocking over houses with his long tail. But Danny can teach a old dinosaur new tricks. It's the most fun this dinosaur has had in a hundred million years!

Originally published as An I Can Read Book over 40 years ago, this classic story is perfect for reading together.

Danny's out on the town with a real live dinosaur. And whether they're eating ice cream or playing hide-and-seek, these two are having one hundred million years of fun--all in one day.

A great little read :-) 5 out of 5 stars.
20 of 20 people found this review helpful.

I reviewed Game Day earlier in the year after buying it for my nephew and both he and I (yes I admit it) loved it. Full of great pictures and a nice message, this is similar to Game Day in that respect.
Both Tiki and Ronde have written this together (it's also going to be their last book in this series). It's about learning how to be a team, which these days (after seeing kids and parents brawl) is an important message. It's also about perserverance, and learning to rely on family. They base their stories loosely around their own childhood experiences growing up playing ball so the story is sincere. Now that they each play for the NFL (Tampa Bay and the Giants), these brothers are hero's to little kids and so their words are more inspiring and meaningful. That's a big appeal in their books.
In Teammates, they are teammates on the Cave Spring Vikings and when Tiki is upset over the way he plays a game, his coach inspires him to believe in himself. So with the help of his brother Ronde, they secretly practice each morning before school to help give Tiki's game a lift and help him hold onto the ball.
It's well written and the pictures are as good as always. It is inspirational to kids and they make it enjoyable. I really think all kids will love it and find lessons in here, and it will make an excellent birthday gift to a little one be it boy or girl.

Editorial Review:

Tiki and Ronde are brothers, best friends, and teammates on the Cave Spring Vikings football team. It's the last preseason game against their arch-rival Knights -- and the football is suddenly knocked out of Tiki's grip. What gives, he thinks, I've always carried the ball this way before.

Inspired by Coach Mike, who tells Tiki, "You've gotta believe," Tiki begins secret practice sessions with Ronde in the morning on the way to school. Will it make a difference in the next big game against the Knights?

Based on the childhoods of NFL superstars Tiki and Ronde Barber, this story of determination and of confidence will inspire all who read it.

THIS BOOK IS OUT! AND SO ARE YOU READ IT NOW 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

THE STUPENDOUS DODGEBALL FIASCO IS TOTALLY AIR HEADED AND FOR PEOPLE WHO... WE'LL GET TO THAT LATER. THIS BOOK IS BY JANICE REPKA. THE MAIN CHARACTER IS PHILLIP EDWARD STAINSLAW. HE IS A CIRCUS BOY. HE WAS ACTUALLY BORN INTO A CIRCUS. NOW I THINK THAT'S TOTALLY AWESOME AND OUTSTANDING... BUT NOT PHILLIP. HE THINKS IT'S MISERABLE. NOW I KNOW THAT MOST BOOKS START OUT WITH A BORING BEGINNING, BELIEVE ME!!! BUT NOT WITH THIS BOOK, JUST START THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE BOOK AND WALLA, IT'S CAPTURED YOUR ATTENTION. ANYWAY BACK TO THE STORY, PHILLIP'S JOB IN THE CIRCUS IS TO.... OH MY GOSH THIS IS FUNNY, HIS JOB IS TO SCOOP UP ELEPHANT DROPPINGS WITH A POOPER-SCOOPER. NOW THE PROBLEM OF THIS "STORY" OR AS I WOULD SAY IT A "COMICS" IS THAT YOUNG PHILLIP DOESN'T LIKE LIVING IN A CIRCUS AS A CIRCUS BOY. FOR HIS BIRTHDAY, WHICH JUST PASSED, HE GOT A SWALLOWING SWORD. HOW WEIRD IS THAT. MOST KIDS WANT A DIRTBIKE OR A XBOX OR VIDEO GAMES. PHILLIP GOES TO LIVE WITH HIS AUNT AND UNCLE. THATS WHERE THE REAL STORY STARTS, IN HARDINGTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS STORY TO PEOPLE WHO LIKE SPORTS AND ACTION. I WOULD RATE THIS BOOK A 5 STAR BOOK BECAUSE OF THE PLOT AND THE RESOLUTION. WHEN YOU FIND OUT THE RESOLUTION YOU WON'T PUT THIS STORY DOWN.
GOOD LUCK BOOK LOVERS. THANKS FOR READING MY REVIEW

Editorial Review:

Phillip comes from a circus family, but all he really wants is to be a regular kid. After persuading his parents to let him move in with his aunt and uncle, he winds up in Hardingtown, where everyone is wild about dodgeball. When he gets slammed in the face with a speeding ball in gym class, he decides to take the dodgeball bully to court. But can a circus boy take on the Unofficial Dodgeball Capital of the World?
This uproariously funny middle-grade novel carries an inspiring message about sticking to your beliefs, however unpopular they may be.

Best Book Ever 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Five Ancestors: Snake (Book 3)

The Five ancestors is the BEST book I have ever read in my entire life. Written by Jeff Stone, The Five Ancestors is about 5 young brother warriors taught in different styles of Kung-Fu: Monkey(Malao), Snake(Seh), Tiger(Fu), Crane(Hok), and Dragon(Long). They all lived in a temple and learned new techniques and moves daily. There was a 6th brother named Ying, but he left the temple angrily because of a fight with the grandmaster. The grandmaster is the master of the temple, and he takes care of the young boys. Years after Yings departure, he returns with an army of soldiers to destroy the temple.
The temple warriors are severely outnumbered, and they fight to the death. Grandmaster saves the boys by putting them into a large crate until the battle is over and then the boys flee. Some say they are the "chosen ones" because they were the only ones to survive the battle. The boys split up and flee in different paths and were supposed to find there true destiny.
The Five Ancestors: Snake, combines an EXCELLENT story, with battles that are so realistic that they leave the reader waiting for more. The action in The Five Ancestors keeps you interested without making you go "yeah right!"
In conclusion, The Five Ancestors: Snake is The Best book in the world. The combined story with action and suspense is a true masterpiece. I would give this book a 15 out of 10 because of how good it is. The entire series is a great and stunning one to leave you waiting for the next book.

Editorial Review:

Twelve-year-old Seh is a snake-style master and a keeper of secrets. Close-lipped and ever-watchful, he has used his highly attuned senses to collect information about his brothers, his temple, and even Grandmaster. Now, with the temple and Grandmaster gone, Seh sheds his orange robe like an old skin, joins a bandit gang, and meets a mysterious woman whose name means Cobra—all the while trying to stay one step ahead of vengeful Ying!

Editorial Review:

Danny and his pet dinosaur have been delighting children since 1958--almost the Jurassic Age to today's preschooler. There's a reason for that. To adults, this dinosaur, so different from the scary guys in Spielberg-land, may seem a bit of a wimp, but he, his friend Danny, the kids in their neighborhood, and the reassuring stories of their simple adventures, are a gentle introduction to the dinosaur universe.

In fact, as a review copy of this reissue lay on my desk, a very grown-up 17-year-old wandered over and remarked "Danny and the Dinosaur. Cool. I remember him. Those books were rad."

Rad indeed. This time author-illustrator Syd Hoff takes us along as Danny and his unnamed companion go off to sleep-away camp. The big guy fits right in; nobody even minds when he wins a race with a single step.

He does his part, though. When the campers go boating, "The children rowed little boats. Danny rowed the dinosaur." When they get tired on a hike, the whole group and counselor Lana hitch a ride home on his back.

Nope, it's not much of a story. But from the arrival at camp to the last goodnight at lights-out, Danny and his dinosaur try new things, help each other out, and generally behave like pals. If a kid and a prehistoric creature can do it, kids know they can, too. (For ages 3 and younger)

I am a preschool yoga teacher and I have seen a few books, but this one is fabulous! My own 3 year old was glued to the book and after reading it she said "again". I definitely plan on using this book when I teach as a little story time. It also gives you step by step instructions on how to do the poses for any beginners.

LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

Great Great Great 5 out of 5 stars.

Editorial Review:

Limber up with this unique, child-friendly yoga book! A light-hearted look at yoga, yet one with a lasting message, My Daddy is a Pretzel is a wonderful introduction to yoga for readers of all shapes and sizes.

Editorial Review:

"This is a boy whose name is Mike. This is Mike’s pride and joy—his bike…"

So begins the inspiring tale of a boy, his best friend, and the adventurous relationship that many children begin when they are young and continue the rest their lives!

Illustrated in a retro-contemporary style, Mike and The Bike rhymes its way through Mike's choosing of his favorite toy - his bike (of course!) - and follows him off on adventures around the world and back home, where he goes to bed wearing his helmet, ready for the next day!

Mike and The Bike is the first children’s book written by Grammy Award–winning guitarist and songwriter, avid cyclist and riding partner of Lance Armstrong, Michael Ward.

Mike and the Bike came into being, appropriately enough, while Michael cycled near his home in Los Angeles.

Includes a foreword by 6-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and a 30-minute CD with music by Michael and his son, Tennessee Ward, plus a special musical narration of Mike and the Bike by the "Voice of Cycling," Phil Liggett.

Editorial Review:

Rocky Fletcher is being stretched to his limit. Until recently, he'd only played wide receiver for the Pythons. Now his coaches want him to learn the safety position, too - a position that opened up when Bobby, Rocky's best friend, broke his leg. Even though he believes he is to blame for Bobby's injury, Rocky eagerly takes on the challenge of becoming a two-way player. After all, the only other player available is Jared, a sullen boy who switched from soccer to football this season. Yet as time goes on, it's Jared who excels at the position because, thanks to Bobby, Rocky keeps missing practices! What's going on between Rocky and Bobby-and why is Jared on the team when he clearly dislikes football so much?
