Secret Weapons Over Normandy Strategy Guide 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

Don't buy the game without buying this companion guide. It gives you a birds eye view of every level, every plane and every weapon in the game.It tells you were hidden planes are and all secondary and bonus missions. It also gives info on flying, bombing, dogfighting, and bonuses when you finish the game.Get this guide before it goes out of print like ace combat 4's guide did or you will have to order it used.Unfortuanly these guides seem to go out of print long before the game does.Another reason to buy these guides is you get to see what every level looks like before you get to play it and what enemies you will come against.

This guide covers PS2 4 out of 5 stars.

Complete waste of money - don't buy it! 1 out of 5 stars.

Clearly not written by a pilot, this book is no more than a rehash of FS95's existing online documentation & help, with a few extras thrown in that any idiot could find for himself on the internet.

The promises extended by the cover (and avertising copy) about this book include "Cross-Country Flight Navigation"... on this and ALL other subjects in the book, the detail is light, the exercises scanty and unstructured.

This book is a rip-off! I will be returning my copy today.

Editorial Review:

For the most recent update of the perennial king of flight simulators. You can count on a big market, swelled considerably by upgraders who will want full details. This is the book that provides them.

Completely useless book. Don't buy it. 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have the 5.1 Flight Simulator version of this book. That is indeed an interesting and stimulating book. I expected this one to be as interesting the 5.1 version and that was the reason for buying it. The Windows 95 version is a total deception. It offers virtually no interesting information, besides the one you can get browsing Flight Simulator's interface and help system. Save your money. Avoid the book

Excellent 5 out of 5 stars.

Without the availability of all the VOR and NDB frequencies shown in the book it is very difficult to fly from one area of the country to another. I use it daily for all my flights. I realize these frequencies are available within the FS 98 program but this is more convenient.

Looks like they wrote it in 10 minutes. 1 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I've never before purchased a book that had so many errors. From simple typographical errors to word-substitution errors ("altitude" instead of "attitude") to information that's just plain incorrect ("If the glideslope needle is below you, it means you're too low" and "Hmm, in this image the plane is banked to the left and the turn is co-ordinated, so therefore the pilot is making a right-hand turn").

I can forgive the editing errors -- maybe Microsoft just doesn't want to spend a whole lot of time producing a book which is in essence a game manual. But to have three supposedly qualified pilots make so many errors with regards to flight information is just unforgivable.

Editorial Review:

It takes most pilots an average of 60 hours of instrument training before they are allowed to take the instrument rating flight test. Microsoft Flight Simulator provides one convenient method for learning how to fly, and INSTRUMENT FLIGHT TRAINING WITH MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 98 shows pilots how to make the most of it. A licensed commercial pilot, Michele Chambre focuses on instrument flight in a book that should capture an important segment of Flight Simulator enthusiasts.

Old but still useful 5 out of 5 stars.

Even though this book was written two years ago and Microsoft has since released two versions after the one this book was written for, the book is still quite useful.
