Use this book and the Thelma brain dump .............. and you'll pass the exam easy! the Thelma brain dump question and answer are like exactly the same questions from the exam and this book also has similar question and the right answers... Don't for get to do some practice work too... We don't need paper MCSE's out there we do need you to know it hands on too...

Not very helpful. The practice questions are too easy and too few in number to be helpful for the 70-087 exam. And the layout drove me buggy. Sorry Sibex.

Helped me get absolutely KILLED on the exam. I couldnt even pass with this book and testmaster, and I have passed two exams already(TCP/IP in two weeks). You need much more or youll be killed too. I suggest Sybex(I know uggh sybex) test success and transcenders. The transcender for 087 absolutely rocks.

I am not usually a Training Guide fan, prefering instead for the Exam Crams. After failing the exam twice, though, I realized that I wasn't getting the information I needed from the smaller book.

I bought - and feverishly read - this book from cover to cover. I practiced with the simulation software and filled in the blanks in my knowledge. Nervously, I took the exam a third time and an now able to call myself an MCSE + I.

Each section covers a different exam objective as presented by Microsoft. Each objective is broken down into manageable chunks and explained so that the reader can easily study and find what he/she needs to know for that objective. Following each chapter will be a series of review questions that relate to the chapter. I have used a number of exam cram books in the past as cert exam prep tools and I was very happy with them but this particular book is very poorly written, alerts that the reader about knowing certain concepts but does not cover or explain the subject concepts, and also has a number of editorial mistakes.

I certainly would not recommend using this book as a exam aid or for refere.nce

Too much useless information 2 out of 5 stars.

This book would be great if the title of the exam was "every thing you could possibly know about Windows 2000 Server Architecture". The book bogs you down with so much useless information about the design of 2000 Server. Instead of focusing on what you need to pass the test this book drones on endlessly about the most trivial apseects of the operating system.

I bought this book based on the fact that it has a lot of exam-type questions. Unfortunately, the answers are in a section entitled '...questiosn'. A basic diagram in the first chapter or two was clearly incorrect. The authors recommend setting up AD on organizational boundaries - a sure trip to major hassles, as companies reorganize all the time.

I'm a beginner in Windows, after a long career deep into the bits and bytes of MVS. I do not know if this is a bad book, but I do know that the errors I've found make me wary of everything in it.

Of all the computer books I have purchased over the last few years, this one deserves special mention. Not only will it NOT prepare you for the MCSE exam, it's superficial coverage, miniscule screen shots, and poor organization have left me wondering what other use I can find for it (a hot dish coaster for my dining room table?). If someone can figure out what a 60+ page section on installing NT Server is doing in an IIS-4 study guide, please let me know. Even the included CBT CD can't rescue it from the realm of the totally useless. I consider this review a civic duty .. please, don't waste your money on this one.

I think everyone is being hard on Sybex's two great writers onthis book. This is an outstanding book that gives you detailedinformation about the topics you will need to cover in this exam. Not only that but it includes lots of movies and learn keys cd and simulators.

The questions sybexs uses are half decent. If you plan on buying book to pass the exam, it is not going to happen. However you can combine this manual with EASYCERT's. Yes Transcender is a good testing system, I have them all. BUT! Transcender is the absolute worst for IIS4. USE EASYCERT and you will pass.

This book was well written, few mistakes. The terms are well explained and understood. There are plenty of snap shots of the program you are reading about its not just crazy. There are lots of labs and information. You must be crazy to give this book a bad rating.

* I gave this 5 stars, it only deserves 4, but I have to boost the rating for users who gave it 1 * haha

this book is the best tool for preparing for the exam 215-70. It also includes explantions for answers

I used the Sybex Virtual Test Cnter for the W2K Professional exam with great success, but this product is poorly put together. While the number of questions and their difficulty level is good, they were poorly edited. I have found:

-Questions that had the incorrect answers listed as the correct answer.

-Questions that had the incorrect answer listed as correct even though the explanation listed the correct answer as being correct.

-Questions that used exhibits that had nothing to do with the question. It's kind of tough to get a questions about GPOs right when you're looking at a picture of Disk Management.

These aren't huge hurdles and can easily be worked around, but they are really annoying when you're trying to study and read the explanation of why your answers are wrong. It's just that Sybex is a respectable company, and they should be able to do much better on this product. Their W2K Pro VTC was great, and they have no update patch/fix for this product.
