X for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide. Step-by-step explanations of the key tools and features in Office cut straight to the essential information. Plentiful screenshots not only acquaint you with Office's revamped menus and dialog boxes, they also keep you on track each step of the way. Microsoft Office v. X for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide shows you the most efficient ways to use Office apps together—you'll find timesaving tips sprinkled throughout. If you're upgrading to Office v. X, you can't afford not to have this book.

A good overview of Office 2001 for Mac 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 18 people found this review helpful.

I found this book to be a better-than-average example of the Dummies genre. The author gives a good amount of information about Word, Excel, Powerpoint and the new Entourage. There's even information on how to synchronize your Palm handheld to Entourage, which helped me a lot when I did a recent trip. You'll be able to find most of what you need in this book, as it works quite well as a reference to those "How do I do that?" questions. This isn't the all-inclusive guide to Office 2001, but then this is a Dummies book, not one of the much thicker (and much more expensive) Bible series. Especially considering that Office 2001 doesn't come with ANY printed manual, this book should serve you well.

Editorial Review:

Master the entire range of Office programs and tools with Microsoft Office 2001 For Macs For Dummies, your all-in-one guide to getting Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express, and Internet Explorer working together in perfect harmony. Written in plain English with lots of tips, tricks, and techniques on the entire range of Office tools, Microsoft Office 2001 For Macs For Dummies answers the question How do I ...?" with insight and welcome doses of humor.

Not Worth the Money!!! 1 out of 5 stars.
11 of 12 people found this review helpful.

I had much higher expectations for this book...perhaps too high. Normally the Dummies line is rather well thought out and explains most application attributes fairly well. I found this book to be dull, lifeless, and the author focusing more on humor than useful information to keep his reader from putting down this book. One major gripe is in the area on the "mail merge" function as it relates to "envelopes and labels." The explanation of this function becomes too hairy even for experienced computer users, and needs to be revised extensively. If you have no other recourse, this book will, at least, get you started. However, if you need something with a little more bite...I'd recommend the Visual QuickStart Guide.

Editorial Review:

Mac users will get the same features that their PC counterparts have. The text covers all the basics of Microsoft Office 97, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
